WOW Great video my friend. So sad they're losing the good ol' washing machine motors. And Emma Clarke's amazing announcements. Completely echo the other comments, it sounds like the S Stock now.
Fr tbf still sounds exactly the same coz of the wheel noise & the 3rd rail shoe brushing against the track pretty much tho the new motor sound really just sounds exact same as the Alstom s stock no improved information screens looks like they’ve nicked that off a 95 stock northern line clearly 🤣
@@tevyekirton33 yes it will. I’m not a great fan of his voice, imo I think female announcers suit the tube much more than make announcers. Emma Clarke is a lot better.
That seemed to take off rather urgently! Moves well - great capture. As already noted by some - it very much has a ‘S’ stock sound. Their old sound will gradually recede into history like everything else that has gone before. Make the most of the unrefurbed ones folks! Hopefully, we’ll see a huge improvement in reliability and availability once these are all done - plus the interior improvements to make these trains more inclusive to all passengers.
I would have to imagine you’re right. They’re likely using the same or similar technology to the S Stock and coupled with the ATC they probably explains why the train is able to accelerate much quicker now
The traction motors sound more like those of the S stock as opposed to those of the 2009 stock. Makes sense given that the 1992 stock has the same top speed as the S stock, whereas the 2009 stock top speed is significantly lower, hence the 1992 needs more powerful motors than those of the 2009 stock.
Ah man, im gonna really miss the older sound of the motors they were the iconic noise of the central line !! But the alstom /bombadier ones are nice too but i have a feeling it will sound like the 09 stock traction at speed. Where the motors are almost i audiable.

I was lucky to see a refurbished 1992 stock at Northolt yesterday afternoon, running westbound towards West Ruislip on a test run. The new motors are the 2009 Victoria line stock motors?
Sounds like this is probably using Alstom IGBT-VVVF drives derived from the S Stock's Bombardier IGBT-VVVF drives. Traction motors themselves are probably based off of the S Stock's motors as well, though id need the data sheets for that to know for sure.
Isn't this the sound that the S7/S8 Stock already makes? The Bombardier MITRAC IGBT inverters? I wish there was more information about the S Stock-specific system on Wikipedia than just a generic "Bombardier MITRAC" and "3-Phase AC Induction Motors" because it sounds nice.
Yes, it is bombadiers traction package. Depending on what it sounds like when you ride it at speed there's a chance the motor sounds like a combination of the older gen and newer equipment. But it's likely they changed the entire traction systems. We'll its alstoms packages now as bombadier gave up their train assets to alstom I think
@@realfrowzso you pick shitty ass dc motors over reliable ac motors just because of the sound, not the reliability. I don't want the washing machines to go either but I gotta agree to get rid of the dc ones sadly
