    actually there are two rubber inserts under the battery. On the video you can see these have both been removed. They go in the small rectangle holes. You must remove these first to release the keyboard slider and replace them after completion to lock the keyboard in place. easy job with a pin etc.

    on the T440's are the backlit and non backlit kb's interchangeable?
    tahnks

    • @LenovoSupport
      @LenovoSupport  8 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Yes. Backlit and non-backlit keyboards for the same ThinkPad model are
      physically interchangeable. AFAIK all ThinkPads that support
      backlighting have the electrical wiring installed regardless of the type
      of keyboard shipped.
      Note that Lenovo gets these keyboards from at least two manufacturers,
      Chicony and LiteOn. If you like the feel of your current keyboard use
      the FRU number to determine who made it and order a backlit version from
      them.

    For t440p, u actually have to remove the backcover first before u can start on removing the keyboard
    After removing the battery, with the battery compartment on the top, there are 2 screws on the top corners, remove them.
    then slide the backcover towards you before lifting it up.

    I have a couple of questions:
    - I have a t440p equipped with a nonbacklit keyboard. Can I install the backlit version?
    - which kind of toolkit (e.g. screwdrivers) do you suggest?
    Thanks

    • @LenovoSupport
      @LenovoSupport  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Francesco! Thank is actually a good question. When it comes to installing a backlit keyboard or replacing the keyboard, we cannot guarantee that installing a backlit keyboard would work, and we highly suggest that you stick with the standard keyboard that came with the laptop since that is the compatible keyboard issued for your laptop. However, if you still wish to have it replaced, you may check this document lnv.gy/2A5iMkG for the Part number of the keyboard for this laptop and please make sure that you choose the same keyboard layout.
      As for the tools that you can use, we cannot recommend any specific tools or brand. Just make sure that you won't damage the laptop while doing the modification since it is not covered by the Base Warranty (lnv.gy/2A0gSC2) for Lenovo. Reggie_Lenovo
