First of all thank you for your comments and tips! Very much appreciated! But don't forget: I am not a real world Q4 pilot and I never claimed to know everything or do everything by the book! I am learning and since I started doing these videos I learned a lot! Still... a long way to go.
What an honor to have you commenting my video! :) I am sorry if I made mistakes but I tried to do a quick tutorial which helps you enjoy the aircraft quicker! I know that I'm not 100% true to the checklists... sorry for that...
No problem in making mistakes....this is how we learn. I am still learning as well :D. The checklists will give you a smoother flow for completing items. Looking forward to seeing more.
have a similar problem.. the nose steering seems fine until i start the engines. then when i push left or right on the stick.. the tiller in the vc moves but the nose wheel does not.
Hey, your tutorial is great.Like you said it is not going to deep into detail and i like how you explain. One question: what scenery is that? Looks like ORBX.
Thank you for this tutorial. Your work is clear, easy to follow and is simple too. Thank you. When yo set your V1, Vr and V2, I believe V1 (130)is set to be higher than Vr(121) and V2(122). Which I believe is a mistake.
Nice educational vid! What enbseries settings do you use (assuming from your realistic visuals you are using this)? Any way you can share your enbseries.ini file
As for the bouncing issue.. run your sim as admin... start your flight with a default aircraft such as the ultralight . when at the gate, go to your aircraft menu and select the Q400 and load it. This worked for me.
Thx for tutorial! Does it support also quick engines start with Ctrl+E as in FSX default planes? I´m flying on Vatsim and sometimes i need to use quick start after clearence from ATC. I have Level-D 767 and it supports quick start of the engines.
Thank you very much! I do use ENB series with settings coming from the forum of REX. Unfortunately I am not allowed to share that as only registered REX Users have access to that forum. Sorry.
I need help pls! When my PFD and all other displays booted up and the aircraft aligned itself and so on, no values are indicated... So there is no speed value, no Altitude no RPM, heading etc. in Virtual Cockpit. When I click on e.g. The PFD it looks the same in 2D as yours in VC. Do u have any ideas? :)
Hi! Have just found this tutorial and, like some other commentators, would love to have greater details about how you set up your EZdok cameras. Do you have a video on how you set this up. I've been trying to customize my EZdok for weeks and never got near this standard!
Nice and good tutorial for the MJC Q400, until to the engine start procedure. Of course, it’s a FSX plane and you can fly so far, but I know the real Q400 very well and there is something different. I agree with the FMS inputs, but it´s not necessary to use EXT AC Power - for Maintenance purpose only J. But the GEN switches (DC & AC) remain always ON. All De & Anti-Ice Systems switched to OFF until engine running (un-feathered) and AC power available. Pack Switches on Air Conditioning Panel must be remaining on AUTO (or MAN) but never OFF (only for maintenance reasons). Also the RECIRC switch should be ON (if engine start performed by APU GEN switch RECIRC OFF) and BLEED switches OFF. Before Engine Start check Power Lever to DISC, and Condition Lever to FUEL OFF! Normally #2 engine should be started first. Precede according following sequence: Set Start Selector to #2 (Ignition Selector should be on Normal - it´s part of the preflight check list). Push Start Switch and light comes on. Monitor NH and on first indication to rising up move #2 Condition Lever to START/FEATHER. Check for light-up within 16 seconds. Power Push-back is possible but not preferred, and not allowed to make turns by the Nose Wheel Steering. But in FSX works better as in real J. Better to use the push-back feature in the FMS in the DATA page under Services. For Taxi there are more procedures - Single or Multi engine, and One-Propeller Feathered taxiing. Some Airlines perform the One-Propeller Feathered taxiing to the Runway and after the flight Single Engine taxiing to the Apron. But it´s too long for procedure explanations….sorry J Nevertheless, a good and informative tutorial for newbie FSX Pilots!
It's definitely one of the easiest tutorials to follow, but you're right, there is some procedural things he gets wrong. One thing you didn't mention is that in real life, you would switch the Fuel Flow lever to MAX after you've started the engine, not MIN.
We use reverse thrust to backup our c130H all the time. Although jdjames8 is correct this is a powerback and using this technique in a civ a/c is highly unusual
I get the Fatal error problem everytime I pick the plane from plane selector. Tried picking it ingame after starting with a different plane, tried running FSX in admin mode, tried reinstalling with admin mode, well nothing really helped! Someone please help me solve this I cannot find it anywhere on Google... I have Windows 8, FSX Deluxe + Acc
Patrick Kotyuk "tried running FSX in admin mode". At lest read the whole thing. Admin mode helps for everyone with everything, but with nothing for me!
For you, you’re able to align the IRS manually (by pressing the align button), but when I go to turn on the DC power, the IRS starts aligning on its own immediately... somebody help?!?
When you turn the electrical power from a cold cockpit..turn on the battery master switch first before the batteries..the power levers should be on the disc (simply called disc and not disconnect) position before you start and if you do not have ac gpu dont turn the switch on...better leave the dc and ac gens on.
I'm a real world Q4 pilot, and echo the comments above from Majestic. Your checklists and flows are off, but then you do explain yourself. A little systems knowledge would go a long way... Couple of comments; > Packs should be left on all the time, unless required off. This is to prevent another helios. To prevent airflow, dont turn a bleed on > Recirc should be left on too > Set up the overhead in one flow, inc ignitions! Very imp, you can destroy a jet engine forgetting about the IGN
Nice video. But some errors. When you select V1, V2 and Vr, you make a mistake. V1 can never be higher than V2. Besides, I recommend to follow the procedures of the manual instead of switching on and off without reason.
First of all thank you for your comments and tips! Very much appreciated!

Still... a long way to go.
Alright, i'm ready, i will jack one of these tomorrow
runningkirk walk are you still alive?
are you that canadian? Kappa
When you are totally new to this Majestic Dash 8 Q400 (like me) this is an excellent video.
What an honor to have you commenting my video! :)

Super video & very clear explanation of procedures. Thank you!
working on fire protection project on dash 8 Q400 ..your video was really useful ..thanks!!
U mentioned that this video is gonna be fancy. It wasn't. IT WAS AMAZING !!!!!!!!!!!!!
So very helpful a really cool aircraft to learn to fly...Thank you
After watching this video 4 times at the same time with my FSX flight, I have mastered the Dash! Thanks for the tutorial! Subbed :-)
Excellent tutorial. Now I just have to study it for 25 hours!!
Great video mate, really helped me get this thing in the air!
I believe that that is with either old or pirated copies? As I bought it and didnt get this problem.
Excellent video. Can you please tell me what you're using for your cameras and scenery? Thanks
Thanks. Are those Mark's ENB settings that he used with FTX EU England by any chance? Those are the ones I use now.
have a similar problem.. the nose steering seems fine until i start the engines. then when i push left or right on the stick.. the tiller in the vc moves but the nose wheel does not.
Hey, your tutorial is great.Like you said it is not going to deep into detail and i like how you explain. One question: what scenery is that? Looks like ORBX.
Nice tutorial. Very useful. Thanks.
how do you control the taxi on ground? when i move my joystick, how i normally taxi, it doesnt do anything in the dash?
Thank you for this tutorial. Your work is clear, easy to follow and is simple too. Thank you. When yo set your V1, Vr and V2, I believe V1 (130)is set to be higher than Vr(121) and V2(122). Which I believe is a mistake.

I’ll save thus video for later. I’ll watch a lot as soon as i buy this plane :D very useful

Hey I'm starting a virtual airline consisting of only Dash 8's can I use this video as a training video ?
is there anyway to make the sensitivity much better? kinda hate the input delay on this aircraft
Good Video! This is a pilot edition?
Thank you very much! I do use ENB series with settings coming from the forum of REX. Unfortunately I am not allowed to share that as only registered REX Users have access to that forum. Sorry.
This video helped me a lot thanks!
Whoever you actually are, you're a horrible person.
omfg this is the funniest thing ive ever seen in my life
lol. pushback on your own! ...just be careful with that.
😂😂😂😂
Rich had a great sense of humour.. he would have loved this comment.

Can you watch the propellers spin from the outside view on start up?
Sure!

Pretty cool man. Where'd you learn all this?
How is the auto pilot turned on? When I click it, the yaw damper turns on, but the auto pilot will not turn on? Thanks.
Fantastic video! Just got this aircraft.
Of course. But please mention where it's coming from.
Hello, how do you get to do those dynamic view changes on the cockpit?!
where can i get this awesome plane ?!?
You're welcome! Specs are at my channel info.
Um for some reason some of my display panels turned off and my engines won’t start

im extremely keen on learning the real procedures. would you be able to teach me? or atleast make me a list from cold and dark? kindest regards Aaron

Why i have takeoff warning sound after every landing
How did you Fix the Bouncing Issue?
Can you please help, my LNAV never engages. I've watched lots of tutorials and read the manuals but still no luck
***** dw mate I fixed it

Thanks for making this video
hi. stunning graphics in fsx. which pc specs do you have and which addons/scenery are you running?. thx
my fmc isnt turned on when i go into the cockpit.
Lost it at 12:43 re: Nav 1 source. You were going. . ."um . . .um"
I have jyst bought this for p3dv5...is this still relevant or is this a different model
should work!
Yep. You have to turn it on!
Ist sie schon verfügbar ? Nicht mehr in der Beta ? Dann habe ich ja mal einiges verpasst haha :D
Thanks for this awesome Tutorial
I know this is an old video, but its still very helpfull! Thanks man!

You gotta start FSX in admin mode.
Patrick Kotyuk

are u using lbs on the fuel ?
For you, you’re able to align the IRS manually (by pressing the align button), but when I go to turn on the DC power, the IRS starts aligning on its own immediately... somebody help?!?
Can u create a simplified checklist and upload it??? Please!
Is FMCalways an add on? Even if I install PMDG or aAerosoft Airbus x extended?
No, the FMC comes with the aircraft. Go with the PMDG 737NGX. It is, in my opinion, the best out there, although I haven't tried the Q400.
"Thrust levers to disconnect" you reckon??
I went to set the squawk but it automatically changed it to 2116.
It starts bouncing violently all over the place when I load it up. I heard many people are having problems with this but I cant fix it :/
when i try to start up engine 2 it doesnt work because the button doesnt light up can someone help

Whats the ENB series you use
How to set the flight speed
how can you see other traffics with their real liveries?
Add-on. Ultimate Traffic 2, World of Ai, whatever you like
Hehe.. Very good mate! (By the way the DC control switches should be turned on from right to left! hehe) ;-)
Nice tutorial! It helped me a lot, thanks!
lohnt es sich das zu kaufen ?
how can you move the view like that?
I think you mean EZDok Camera Addon.
+EngineIgnition why not use high rpm

Sweet fx ?
Would you ever do a GTX 2080 card? 😨😢
this is a great work
awesome Broth
So this knowledge is ok but I can’t download a 3-D gun blueprint?
No. Don't you dare start this bullshit up with the flight sim community.
I have a black dong blueprint you can download
birit911 you seem like a guy that likes black dong downloads
Thanks does this work on aero fly?
To be honest I don't know... if the Dash is simulated correctly it should...
EngineIgnition yeah i actually tried it already it did not work:(
@@fr4nz51 As I said. I don't have any experience with the sim or that addon. But I suspect that it's a "light" version of the aircraft.
@@EngineIgnition ohh aero fly is a mobile flight simulator and i expected those controls you did in your video would work but sadly it did not
I went to taxi but it wasn't letting me turn!?:( I tried using ailerons and using rudder and neither work:(
Try reinstall. Else contact their support. Until they answer, just use differantial brakes and thrust
use the tiller, like in a real aircraft
Guys it's simple make sure nose wheel steering is on its just above the tiller
I can't remember, it is fixed now though.
You never turn off gen switches, they are always left on for any plane.
Which bouncing issue?
Are u using the fsx app?
+yusuf hassen their is not FSX app
very nice tutorial :) helped alot !
Yes you will get full credit please notify me if you make any other Dash 8 or turbo prop ones ( saab340 )
This is called "Powerback" used in situations, wheen pushback isn't possible etc. :)
I wouldn't call it "game" but it is Microsoft Flight Simulator X Acceleration with a lot of addons.
Use the nosewheel steering tiller.
Can't access GPS on MJDHC-8. Can anyone help !
Cheers man, thank you so much I really needed that help ;)
THANKS!!!!!!1 But i needed to watch this 3 time to decorate
enjoyed watching
Great video thanks mate. It's aeroplane though, and route is pronounced 'root' :)
Soo... what camera do you use in this tutorial?
Igor Papic ezdoc rekao je to u klipu
thank you very much to this tutorial.
Nice video. But some errors. When you select V1, V2 and Vr, you make a mistake. V1 can never be higher than V2. Besides, I recommend to follow the procedures of the manual instead of switching on and off without reason.
great job, thanks
Great tutorial :) Helped me out a lot.
Wunderful done, thank you!!!!!
what is this sim called?
fsx with addons.
Vielen dank fürs Tutorial könntest du noch mal ein deutsches Tutorial machen.
Thanks a lot, Super job, Go ahead, ......................................THANKS..................................................
