Before, PTV 4 aired many American dramas up to the '90's. By 2000's, as I remembered as a kid, the network, later known as NBN 4, aired the most of the American news content from Fox News Channel.
Every time I see that Birch Tree Thick Cream commercial back then, it really amazes me that much that I'm starting to appreciate the Netherlands. Sayang wala gaanong produkto na ganyan.

The main reasons why PTV4 slowly pulled out most of its western shows are the ratings and the effects of the PTV Charter. If I remember correctly, PTV's sales and marketing, along with those of other state-controlled channels, were not handled by the network itself until they were eventually transferred to the network. Hirap ding makagalaw lalo't iniiwasan ang red tape at lahat ng financial statements, kailangang audited sa COA.
PTV now airs Voice of America content (Stories from the Grid) at 2:15PM with replays at 10:30PM on weekdays, 12:30PM on Saturdays, and 9:30PM on Sundays. It is the only imported program with English audio.
