This is the best advice I have ever heard. And life experience can definitely give you a reality check. I have done many jobs at 27 years of age. I'm never satisfied. I've always searched for a job I love. Last year I was finishing the last year of college for nursing clinicals and classes, I was working full-time in a warehouse 12 hours a day, 4 days a week. And then I found the housecleaning business and quit my warehouse job. Although I was making more money at the warehouse, it was killing my body!!! I began learning all I could about cleaning and lost all focus of the medical field. Sounds silly but once I had learned I was getting paid $25-40 per hour on my own jobs and be my own boss, I was sold. I knew to really get the big bucks as a nurse, I would have to work doubles and be away from my kids. I seriously found my passion! Some think I'm crazy...but if I can work with less stress and be completely happy at the end of the day, it's completely worth it!
Thank you for posting this. I’m 28 and I have had number ours jobs. I’m done. I’ve found my passion but the real thing is creating my OWN schedule that works for me and my family. And I don’t have to justify why to anyone.
So true. The best job is the one that gives you the flexibility to live your life! Yes cleaning toilets isn’t glamorous, but I wouldn’t trade it for a 9-5!
Attitude of gratitude. One thing about this business is that it really isn't always about the money. When the work is really hard, I make myself think about the job from my clients point of view. I am her help.... she is not just paying me to clean her bathroom, she is paying me to do something that gives her time to sit down with her family and relax, because I have taken some of the work load off of her plate. It's hard to sit down Saturday morning and watch cartoons with your kids when you know that the house is a wreck. I give that to her. I think about the fact that I am a luxury..... I am what they look forward to. Oh to be able to come home to a house that is clean and just relax. We are a treasure. We enable them to invest their time in their family.
I have owned a housekeeping business for 17 years and I screen my clients probably more then they do me and I think in 17 years I have had 5 days I don’t love my job! I actually look forward to working daily I think this line of work is so great I wish more people would start a business! You will make great money and meet incredible people and always be learning
You just earned a new subbie. I have been in the cleaning business for 10 years professionally and I am worn out. Before this I was a CMA. I make more cleaning house then I ever did nursing, and at the end of the day, I may be tired, but its better then a mental drain. BRILLIANT advise, and a great story ;)
I agree! Physically demanding is better than stress! I was laid off as an Operations Manager and stumbled upon cleaning houses after I couldn’t find a job on my area. Best blessing in disguise ever! Now I’m wanting to hire a team and expand! 🙌🏼 Still trying to figure everything out though.
great story at least you had something to fall back on. It's terrible how people with money love to take away your dignity from you..You are very inspirational !
OMG! Tha’s why I love what I’m doing now. I had the same experience Angela. While ago I was working so, so hard for a very little money, until I decided to be my own boss, set my own schedule and earn a very good money. Doing what? Housecleaning!!!!! :-)
Angela!!!! You are brilliant! Thank you for this video! Yesterday, I voluntarily resigned from the hotel housekeeper training program I was in on the Las Vegas Strip, for a fine resort. They work with you to build up to 15 rooms a day in 2 weeks. I couldn't get my speed up, not matter how hard I tried. Probably half the group will drop out, and many of those who pass training will not make it through the 90 day probation because the room quota is too hard. BUT....I am interviewing in 2 days for a time share resort that does NOT have a room quota--they pay you per suite that you clean. I just KNOW that system will be better for me. I love cleaning. I'm doing the right work. I just need to find the right fit. Thanks again for your encouragement. All your videos are encouraging!
Great story. It reminds me of a time I went door to door selling supplemental insurance in heels in winter and I quit that day. I made nothing as it was all commission based. Time is valuable and worth more than free or pennies per hour. Great reminder on a valuable life lesson.
I hired a house cleaner and she came for the first time today. I am amazed at the great job she did and how hard she cleaned. Her pay turned out to be $20.00 an hour for the 4 hours she was here. I supplied the cleaning supplies. The only mistake she made was she put the mop bucket in my hall closet with a wet mop in it when she left, I'm glad I went looking for it and found it. What's a good way to approach her about this mistake? I'm keeping her for every 2 weeks service. She was the bomb.
VERY TRUE AS IT HAS HAPPENED TO MYSELF, HOWEVER IT IS SO SAD THAT WE HAVE SLAVE LABOR IN AMERICA AS NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO WK THAT HARD FOR SOMETHING THAT DOES NOT PAY THE BILLS
After a stint as a secretary to a dad and son law firm which paid very little, and treated me poorly, I quit. My cousin was working at a local dry cleaner/laundry so she put in a good word and I got the job. Minimum wage $1.25/hour back then. Friday was my first day at work. I stood on my feet all morning. The biggest mistake I made was to sit down at lunch. My back and legs were done and I was in pain. I decided right then I did not want to work in a laundry. I wanted to work in an office with air conditioning. I enrolled at a local business college, got a couple more years of business/management under my belt and worked at various administration positions throughout my 40 year career. Was it always great, no. I worked really hard, sometimes 24 hours straight. Walking in another's shoes makes you appreciate the golden slippers you already have on. That was an inspirational story.
Wow, I love your awareness and determination to take control of your life and career. Hats off and high five for taking the initiative to steer your life in the direction that served you best. I'm so proud of you. Thanks for sharing this. 💛
Loved hearing that story. Thank you. It's amazing how many people in this world have never worked hard--I mean really physically hard--in their entire lives. But even more amazing is that there are many more people than that who work their fingers to the bone every day for practically nothing. Makes me appreciate what I have.
Hi Angela!! Thank you so much for your videos! I have tears in my eyes about your story. I passed through so many difficult times as a house cleaner, but i really believe that is a great, great business to be in.
hahahah omg you made my day!!!!! I was thinking about quitting yesterday, but I reminded my self how much I dislike working for someone else, and being treated as a slave or something else. Im good, I just need to stay focus and hire someone to help me
It's true you will have days like this. And, there will be days when you will dislike working for yourself. It's okay to fire yourself from time to time - and if you hire yourself back, make sure it's a better, brighter version of you. Being a business owner is tough and not for the faint of heart. You've got this. 😱💯😍
Omg me and Angela did the same path. I use to work for Salvation Army and I was a sorter there for a year. Yup she's right speed is everything. But those skills are what actually is used in cleaning too. It's the hard work. God bless guys 🇯🇲🇯🇲❤️❤️
Hi Gail, try Sprayway Glass Cleaner. Here's a product review I did and it worked well on the top and bottom of my glass table: th-cam.com/video/uKEW6Qr4kJ8/w-d-xo.html
What a great story!! In my 25 years I have had FIFTEEN minimum wage jobs. I am now on the path to a career as a teacher. Every single job showed me the way to my dream job. I’m not a house cleaner, but I have major respect for those who are. I watch your videos because I enjoy home making and I value any cleaning tips I can find! Plus, your stories and insight can be applied to any life situation. Thanks for sharing!!
Omg! Just looking and listening to your experience, I am exhausted! I have worked temp long and short term. I was pretty much earning a dollar or so above minimum wage and back then it was about $6.00 an hour. I did front desk reception and answered phones because I had no skills, so I did what I do best, talk. I say all this to say, I treated that job as if it were my own company. I gave my very best I could tell when I was doing a great job, because they wanted to hire me. As a temp I got to see the company on it's gut level so when I turned them down I had a just cause. I eventually became a independent contractor calling my own price, times and locations. It was a learning lesson for me and a jump in my confidence in myself and abilities Thanks again, Angela, as always you raise the bar on professionalism, integrity and standards far and above the accepted norm. You are the best
😂😂😂😂 I Had that Experience and I ALWAYS Laughs at myself for it !!! I did an 8hrs shift cutting hair and i only got $ 23.72 That was My Priceless Moments of life
Great story. I thought I would have been smitten by the management offer, so good for you. Then I remembered someone in my household hiring a service worker as a side job from the company he worked for on his own time. He came and looked hung. Then he stood with shoes on an uncovered mahogany sidebiard with fluid from the machine he used for cleaning the ceiling dripping into the wood!
I've been thinking of doing this for years. I've been out of work for so long, just because I couldn't get any that would fit around being a Mum as I have no one around - having always been shy and struggled to make friends.. I've not had anyone outside of our house. I've just put it off through fear that's only built over the years. I know I'm not lazy, but I also know I clean my house in my own time.. so I do worry whether my fitness is up to scratch (minor health issues too).. Can I work quick enough after all this time, at this age, I don't know. I guess I won't know until I try. I've just become totally reliant on my other half (with him making every decision for years, me having no money of my own, so no say) for almost a decade and a half. It's just been way, way too long. So I'm having a hard time getting back to work as it is, I'm not educated, never had a career,.. Only lately I've been considering breaking my back in a warehouse just because it's the only hope I have. Yet that's not what I want, not at all, its only because being my own boss is so scary... wasted energy I know, but it's getting over those fears after losing so much confidence and barely speaking to anyone for years and years. I've got myself into a mess. I need to do get back into fitness(!) and do a LOT of research as I don't know where to begin, or what's expected (is it worth offering to shadow someone and work for free, just to get an idea??). Anyway, I greatly appreciate your videos. I only found them today and I'm going to watch them all and make sure I make notes! Loved this video.. I've had some sh*tty jobs too! You made me smile saying you framed your check! Your fitness must be on point though! TY so much x
Ma'am, you are something special. I frequently gripe & moan about my situation at work and home. But, just as frequently, I remind myself there are MANY people in this world who would dream to be living my first world life. Then, I kick myself for being so ungrateful, and move on, a little ashamed, but more content. I think you're cut from the same cloth. Oh, BTW... Subscribed!
Angela, thank you so very much for this video as well as all your others! I love your integrity, genuine, authentic and inspiring energy! Your sharing of your wisdom, knowledge and experience has truly blessed me!! Thank you so much!
Love your videos. I work as a caregiver for county. Not a nurse. You do light cleaning errands; and some doctor appointments. We have a check list. The challenge I find is people have a lot of clutter. I have found myself getting to close to people it will bite you. We can be fried from this person if they just get bored with you. I have had some very strange happenings. Your videos still can offer me some advice. Thanks so much. Angela Jennifer 🤩
I'm so happy I found you today. I'm in Italy and I work at a supermarket but I also run my vert small cleaning and ironing business (myself being my only employee😁). Just wanted to thank you
@@AskAngelaBrown thank you so much for replying. I'm listening to all your videos as I'm working and I'm gaining so much knowledge from you though the cleaning system is very different here.
Thank you so much Angela. I have just discovered you and have been binge watching your videos. Alot of your tips are things I already do but there are other things you do that have given me inspiration. Like the power drill scrubber except I plan to find an attachment that has a scrubby pad instead of a brush. I have been cleaning since 2013 for myself. Ive been struggling lately with mental health and am once again at home today. I cant explain what this video meant to me in terms of keeping positive. Its good to know there are strong ethical people like you. Thank you.
I love all your vlogs but I must say this one is my favorite. I feel like quitting this business all the time especially when I have employees quitting, or showing up late, or really impossible customers. I sometimes feel like it's taking over my life. You just gave me a strategy when I feel like that.... thanks
This is an awesome story! It gives me hope that I can find another cleaning job. I recently was fired yesterday from my former new job of one month. I was completely devastated, but I know somebody out there will want me. I had worked previously for a year before getting hired on with a cleaning company on the promise they would give me full-time work. Anyway I'm currently job-applying and filed for unemployment benefits in the meantime. I have a meager emergency savings set aside for this very reason. You're video is very helpful and your attitude is awesome. I don't know how I would have reacted to getting paid a small amount, I probably would have been in tears for all my hard work had I been in your shoes. Thanks for the video. I'd like to go into housekeeping by myself and be my own boss, I just wouldn't know where to begin. However, I do have a good work history until the unfortunate job loss happened to me yesterday. So I guess it's a start.
I’m so sorry to hear about your recent job loss. I have several videos that you might find helpful. Here is one to start off with: th-cam.com/video/6jLUqlUEJhg/w-d-xo.html I wish you the best of luck and am sending virtual hugs and prayers your way. 🤗 🙏
Thank you. I needed to hear that right now. Now Im hoping I get the job. Im just so scared Ill not be able to keep ontop of it all or not do a good enough job ... I will keep referring to your videos as a go to if I do!
I love how you explain things. You are very smart lady. I am not in the business, and I feel motivated to clean because of you! I mean to be able to see the details that I never saw before. Thanks for your videos.
Thanks so much for watching. Anytime someone is motivated to clean and it improves the way they are living - my heart fills with joy. Thanks for sharing this. You made my day. 👏👏👏
I'm here watching your videos after thinking I'm not cut out for housekeeping. (After 20 years) thank you for your honesty. I'll be heading out with my bag of rags again! 😂
Hi Andrea I came across watching your TH-cam, I learned a lots from your cleanings topic & excellent advise and you make me laughing a lots. You are very sincere & down to earth person. Thx you very much. From 🇨🇦 😊❤
I'm so glad that you are enjoying the videos and that they have been informative. Thank you so much for your feedback and this comment, I appreciate it!
Wow Angie this is a very good story very motivating story for all of us housekeepers to think that we have a really hard job thank you so much for sharing this God bless you
Excellent video! You are so interesting and multifaceted, I watch almost all your vids and I always go away with inspiration, know how and a smile. This is such a great lesson about perspective.
I’m so glad this came up because I really have one of those days 😫and by watching your video it inspired me to do better tomorrow and give all I have . Thank you so much for your advice.
Love the story! I've quit clients. When you have to use a scraper to clean grime off the floor and things like that, it's not worth the money. I had a guy I was taking care of thru the county. He was mostly blind, but he drank a lot. When it came to there being actual human excrement all over the bathroom, in the tub and the floor... 🤢 I decided since I don't have a hasmat suit, nor the will to clean up that mess that I was done with that job. He needed a nursing home imo. Anyway, I've got a full schedule with great clients and homes I enjoy cleaning now. I have one day off a week and that's when I really clean my own house. Which is the only part of my job I don't like is that I clean on my day off!! This morning tho, I've binge watched your cleaning videos. 🤣
Hi Jackie, thanks so much for watching. It's true there are times that you will have to part ways with clients for one reason or another. At Savvy Cleaner we have a renewable contract that includes a new walkthrough each year with the client, and new pricing. We re-evaluate our working relationship to make sure that our working together is still a win-win for us both. During many of these walkthroughs we've parted ways with clients for any number of reasons, but we always left on good terms. It's okay to not keep the same clients forever. Thanks for sharing your story. I'm sending you a big virtual hug. 🤗

I found this extremely motivational thanks Angela
Glad the video was motivational. Thanks for watching. 😊
Whoa! Thanks for the reality check!!!!
You're welcome and thanks for watching. 🙂
Loved this story!!!
❤️
You're a wonderful storyteller and an even better person!
Wow, thank you! You are awesome!😊
I love your ethics and how hard-working you are, Angela! Thank you for your videos!
Thank you so much, you made my day!!!😍😍😍
Ma'am, you are something special. I frequently gripe & moan about my situation at work and home. But, just as frequently, I remind myself there are MANY people in this world who would dream to be living my first world life. Then, I kick myself for being so ungrateful, and move on, a little ashamed, but more content. I think you're cut from the same cloth.
Oh, BTW... Subscribed!
Hi 0rnery, you just made my day. Thanks for your kind words of encouragement and support and for joining the conversation. I appreciate you. 👍
Thanks so much for this video. I’m a cleaner at a primary school. Today is my first day starting this year. Wish me luck
Good luck. You've totally got this! Keep me posted and let me know how it goes. I'm here rooting for you. :-)
@ I am Baked, do they require past experience of cleaning?
Wow, thats a great story, Angela!!! I LOVE these videos!!! God bless you for taking the time to share all your knowledge/experience with us!!!
Angela, thank you so very much for this video as well as all your others! I love your integrity, genuine, authentic and inspiring energy! Your sharing of your wisdom, knowledge and experience has truly blessed me!! Thank you so much!
Aww...you made me blush! Thank you so much for your sweet and kinds words! They are truly appreciated. Sending hugs.🤗😊💕
You're awesome for doing what you do! Thank you for your feedback and thanks for watching. 🙂
You are a incredible communicator. Great informative videos. I need good advice cleaning the house, I learned so much from you. Thank you.
You are so welcome! And thank you much for your kind words and for taking the time to write this comment, I appreciate it! 🤗
Angela this needs to be a Ted Talk! They had you working like you were in human sweat factory.
I appreciate you watching the video. 👍
Very good advice, no matter what one's profession.
Thank you.
Ella, Thanks so much for watching the show and leaving a comment. I’m so glad you found the video positive and helpful . 😊

Thanks in advance!

my daughter does this part-time. She's selective but it is still hard work!
How did she get clients my hubby and I want to do this until he gets his Psychology license how did she get started

This is exactly what I needed to hear today. Thank you.
You're welcome, glad it was helpful.
I love all your vlogs but I must say this one is my favorite. I feel like quitting this business all the time especially when I have employees quitting, or showing up late, or really impossible customers. I sometimes feel like it's taking over my life. You just gave me a strategy when I feel like that.... thanks
Thanks for leaving such a nice comment. 👍
I just love watching your videos! 🥰
Thank you so much!! I'm glad you like them! 😊
Sorry to hear that you got fired. Sending you hugs🤗, positive vibes and wishing you lots of luck with the job search.
I’m so sorry to hear about your recent job loss. I have several videos that you might find helpful. Here is one to start off with:

I wish you the best of luck and am sending virtual hugs and prayers your way. 🤗 🙏
Thank you for all the positive vibes. I wound up finding a much better job that paid far better too. 😊
That amount of pay is absolutely criminal!
The pay was so bad that it reminded me why I was in business for myself. It was a great lesson.
What an AMAZING story! Hallelujah, you’re incredible, what you say is co true!! Keep pushing
Thank you so much for your feedback, I appreciate it!😊
Amen! I can relate. Great video
I am so glad you liked the video and reached out to let me know. 👍
good for you Angela! ethics, other peoples, can either make or break you. how wise you were to walk away from that employer.
Thank you. 💛 It was one of the best decisions I ever made. I'm so glad I stuck with house cleaning.
Thank you. I needed to hear that right now. Now Im hoping I get the job. Im just so scared Ill not be able to keep ontop of it all or not do a good enough job ...

@@AskAngelaBrown your welcome
Love the story!
I've quit clients. When you have to use a scraper to clean grime off the floor and things like that, it's not worth the money.
I had a guy I was taking care of thru the county. He was mostly blind, but he drank a lot. When it came to there being actual human excrement all over the bathroom, in the tub and the floor... 🤢
I decided since I don't have a hasmat suit, nor the will to clean up that mess that I was done with that job.
Awesome Awesome Video! Thank you for sharing your experience🤯💪💪💪
Great story 😺
Thank you! 😊 Glad you enjoyed it!
YOU ARE INCREDIBLE! Great Mind Lady

Good story, and it is true, house cleaning pays more than many other jobs, even professional jobs.
