Just a note, wedging the rotor past the bracket isn't ideal and will scratch the rotor pretty significantly. Instead, remove the brackets. The scary looking bolts on the back are polygon square, which also accepts a 3/8 ratchet wrench. Just put the stub in the hole, no socket or bit needed. You might need a 3/8 breaker bar. 7:04
IMPORTANT: On the normal AUDI TT (not TTRS) you CAN'T pull out the rear disk without pulling out the carrier first. In fact, the rear carrier is hold on with two M14 triple square bolts (a bit rare), and you won't be able to do the job without that m14 special bit. Also, even if in the TTRS (with another carrier with more room) you can pull out the disk, you will scratch it as you show in the video. Don't make the same mistake as me. Because i trusted the tutorial and now i have to wait 2-3 days to get the M14 needed.
😅 I’m having the same issue too… lol. I spent about an hour trying to slide the new disc in, only the find it won’t go in.. trip to Halfords, got spline bits up to a M12.. didn’t fit.. had to order a set from Amazon 😭
@@lloydsands6147 how did you get the old disc out before you tried to put new disc in?? Lol good thing Audi didn't use an old English whitworth sized bolts
Very good step by step informative video as always, its helped me a great deal to do the whole suspension and disc/pad changes. I do get the forced disc issue however it was minimal impact in the disc it pushed through nicely without too much hand heavy force, so a tad pedantic I think there! personally I would have removed the bracket anyways to clean it up a bit. Carry on with the great videos.
Very helpful video. I'm just doing my back brakes on my 8j now - one caliper, both discs and all the pads, but there was absolutely no way the discs could be removed and replaced without unbolting one of the carrier's fixings and spinning it out of the way. 🤷♂️
Great Presentation, Bad on me :-( for thinking all Mk2's were the same. as the brackets do need to come off on my car as well as I noted in the comments below and an M-14 needs to be obtained, not available in my town so the 2 day wait.. The information for taking off the bracket and the size of the bit would've been helpful for your viewers IMHO, maybe add it with some on screen dialog. What about the electrically operated hand brake as the one you was changing the disk and pads was a mechanical one
