  • Who wants to shovel gravel? We don't! Jacob's ingenuity is at its finest as he makes a backhoe attachment for getting gravel out of the trailer.

    interesting idea. You could also, if the trailer's frame is sturdy, use your backhoe to pick it up from the lead end, even if its just to a 35 degree angle, you could then easily sweep the gravel out.

    as I watched, I saw you "using" electricity here and there. After awhile of living OFF GRID, one comes to become "normal" in terms of using electricity. I have to stop myself now and then, and say to myself: What I am doing, that electricity comes of the sun, via the science of magic crystals that make the power in the panels and stores that energy in the magic crystals of the battery.
    Gosh, I love this TECH
    Great work on using your brain and not just your back, in building the tools you need. Doing so via the magic science of solar power. I also always wanted to learn how to weld. Maybe some day

  • @heymakerphd1982

    You could fabricate an adjustable "shoe" (like tiller runners) so that the blade couldn't dig in more than what you set it for. Might make things easier on your trailer. - I would like your photog better if it weren't quite so focussed at all times. When it's your eyeballs looking, you see more of a panorama, what's going on around. Makes for a better understanding of the situation.

    Is Darla the fuzzy black cat still around? I haven't seen her for a video or two.

    • @dionh70
      @dionh70 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also, when you're squeegeeing the gravel out of the trailer, I'm surprised that you don't start at the end closest to the backhoe & scrape out more manageable portions.

    • @aboulderlifeoffgrid
      @aboulderlifeoffgrid  ปีที่แล้ว

      We miss Darla 😢. We went to bring her in one night and couldn't find her. Usually when that was the case, she would be there in the morning. As far as we know she wandered off. Hopefully to a new home. That's what we hoped has happened.

      @@aboulderlifeoffgrid My wife is a certified, card-carrying crazy cat chick, so we know cats. We live in a semi-rural area in SoCal, so cats going missing in our area is frequently due to a larger critter snacking on them (bobcats, coyotes, occasionally raccoons, even the occasional hawk). My wife cat-egorizes (see what I did there?) that event as "recycling". Always sad, but Nature's gonna be Nature.

    Would it hurt the trailer if you used the backhoe to lift the front of the trailer and dump the gravel? That is a good idea to rake the gravel instead of shoveling, I wouldn't have thought of that. That is the reason you make the big bucks. lol

    • @SJC49
      @SJC49 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I thought of that at first but I think if you lifted and dumped the trailer you would destroy the sides.
