To be honest, that's now how Muay Thai fight, too much jumping, and Muay Thai would definitely aim for the opponent's leg in which they kicked whilst their opponents charged forward, then Muay Thai will use his elbow to attack your head, is how full fledged muay thai fight

The "muay thai" guy did everthing wrong, he should have kicked the legs of the jiu-jitsu guy and work with the jab, so that the jiu-jitsu guy didn't project him and then that nice armbar...good for the jiu-jitsu guy!

    • @barrettnichols2949
      @barrettnichols2949 9 ปีที่แล้ว +8

The Muay Thai guy should've either sprawled over the guy and clinched him, grabbed the jujitsu player's head and knee struck him, or both in different orders. A striker has the advantage of reach over a grappler, but if he doesn't prevent the takedown, or at least reverse it, he's a dead man. A striker flat on his back with a wrestler on top is in deep shit. There are ways a striker can continue to fight while on his back, but they require some distance from his opponent, who could either be standing or on the floor too. If he goes to the floor first and starts using that position on his back to start kicking, he can do some serious damage to the knees, or even sweep the legs out, but that's a last resort. The last place I'd want to be, as a boxer/kickboxer, is on my back.

    Basta saber aplicar a técnica.

Skyler thanks. Great to see someone with your experience posting.
The Gracies walked into an octagon with only two rules (no eye gouging, no biting) and beat all comers. More than once.
That was a style vs style contest and they showed the merits. Also that they would test it. Aikido for one, refuses to spar or test their mettle. Very telling.
Now it is possible to see style vs style and decide which one works for your personal talents. Don't TOUCH aikido or anything unproven. My advice

Kanglong Yang The Muay Thai man may have just had his first match against a person trying to tactle his legs. If he just drilled for a few months on sprawling, and striking against a tackler/leg grabber, the match would not be so lopsided, and his Muay Thai skiils would show to be very effective with just the addition of some simple "sprawl and brawl knowledge".

It's very common in other martial arts to only practice for untrained fighters. Judo even taught as a sport is STILL effective in the street, that's what I love about it. Fighting a skilled opponent is a totally different game. And I don't want to say it's poor classes per se, but more a lack of the traditional teachings that make Jujutsu/Judo the complete form it should be.

The Gracies used basic strikes to create openings for a clinch to take down. As a BJJ practitioner I feel it important to point out the "BJJ" guy did no such thing and took some bad shots trying to close in. A BJJ ground game without knowledge of how to safely close the distance is not much more then a sport game. That said, that slam had to hurt. The MT guy kind of did a brake fall and kept his head from hitting the ground, but there's no way on concrete that wouldn't have stunned him a bit.

I ended up learning bjj because of this. Don't under estimate it. If stand up is your strong point and you have no ground techniques then your only hurting yourself. Find all you're weak points and make them stronger to better yourself as a fighter. Don't be stupid and just stick to one thing and say..ohh its cuz he had pads blah blah. I was taken down everytime by grapplers to the point I had to learn it and now I love it and actually prefer to fight on the ground lol

You're right. A striker kinda has to lay you out. Grappler just has to subdue you.

Its feels like a Crocodile waiting to drag its prey into water. It waits & waits and with a sudden action it drags and the prey is unable to do anything.

If you want people to think that your martial arts is the best. You have to beat Muay Thai. It's always been like this. This is a good indication that Muay Thai is the pinnacle of martial arts. Muay Thai has proven that they can defeat their opponents even if they fight under unfavorable rules. They have proven it countless times. To defeat your opponent by not using your strongest weapons like elbows and knees. At the same time, what would happen if jiu jitsu had to fight under disadvantageous rules like Muay Thai? What would happen if you were forbidden to strangle, forbidden to break arms, forbidden to break legs, or forbidden to hug? You can bet that jiu jitsu fighters will never be able to defeat their opponents the way Muay Thai can.

Thing about jiu-jitsu is that it can be used against almost any martial art. Some martial arts have kicks and punches that can end it, if the jiu-jitsu guy dodges your kick, or straight up grabs your leg, than can get you on the floor and just dominate. can't do fancy kicks with a guy mounting you.

2016's New Star Player Because it's origin from Ninjitsu which hybrids with Western wrestling move. All those submission moves used in UFC is mostly Asian killing/Assassins art used probably over 1000s of years.....
