This could not have been produced any better than you have done. It was clear in sight and sound. There were multiple shots for clarity and interest, the pacing was spot on, and you included every step. You are a natural born director!
I just did my first oil change on my 2011 CBR 250r and because of your video took about 10 mins LOL! THANKS AGAIN FOR SUCH A GREAT VIDEO. No BS straight to the point!!!
Just got done with my first oil change. It was a breeze thanks to your tutorial. Thanks a lot! Keep posting! My stupid Honda dealership wanted $165 just for a straight oil change.
VERY GOOD VIDEO THANKYOU. No bs, no rants, or tangents. Just straight to it with great camera angles and explanations you can actually understand THANK YOU
Thank you Brown Brady, I look forward to your maintenance vlogs as they are truly Canadian in content. Good tip on the new oil filter needing to be loaded and then the engine topped up. I may have missed this but not now.
Very clear explanation, good video and audio quality. And you explained it very politely. Did not miss any detail, just perfect!!! Loved watching it and defenitely very useful.
Great video, the best CBR250R oil change video on TH-cam. I changed my oil and filter a couple of weeks back and forgot to undo the filler cap before I removed the sump plug, made a bit of a mess!
+Munday182 Thank you for the kind words. Yes, that has happened to me in the past as well, especially when I change the oil in my car. The good thing about changing the oil on a bike is that it's so easy to clean up the mess.
This video is perfect! I'll be changing my motoroil for the first time and I was kinda anxious to do it alone (as a girl), but now I'm much more confident it'll work out. Thank youuu!
I missed this video in August i put the bike away on Dec 27th I had the dealer do the first service (recommended by them) to to change the oil & check the valves. Excited to do this myself early & i mean early next season!
Great video! Changed my oil today and had a couple of comments. (1) I partially removed both middle cowls to allow full removal of under cowl. Not too hard, didn't take much time and gave me great access to oil filter. (2) I used all dealer parts. Dealer pulled part number 15410-KYJ-902 for the oil filter number which did not match what I found online initially. I called the dealer and checked online and confirmed 15410-KYJ-902 is a direct replacement for 15410-KYJ-901. It fits just fine. (3) As recommended in video, I too recommend using a funnel to pour new oil in (after trying without and spilled some). (4) Old crush washer on my bike was wrong size and was fairly difficult to remove i.e. inner diameter too small. This is why I tend to avoid dealers for service work. Why pay $90 labor for someone to use the wrong parts for such a simple task? Not the first time I've had someone use wrong parts for an oil change. Geez. (5) Didn't find online prices much cheaper for parts so purchasing at dealer seems to be best choice for me. (6) Bike on rear stand works well for this task, allows a normal drain pan to fit beneath bike and provides a little more working room (can put kickstand in up position).
We have same motorcycle! Same year too, mine is just all black. This is a good tutorial. I’m planning on doing my own oil changes, so this is very helpful.
I change my 2011 cbr250r oil once a year at the end of the year..whether it needs it or not :) needed a little refresher course before getting to it this fall...nice vid..very well made..subscribed..
Damn, they almost got me for $150 and I said the same thing after watching this. I bought supplies to do this two times for less than what I was about to pay for one oil change and chain cleaning...
Excellent video, clear explanation it was easy to understand, I've just bought a CBR250r so your videos are like an online academy for me, keep the good work!!!
I HIGHLY recommend removing the left side fairing. The lower front screw for the oil filter cover is WAY too hard to get out of there if you don't. Sorry, I don't have miniature hands, but they are not big by any means.
Seems your bike like your family member.. So clean and well maintained. I am planning to missing company free servicing because they messed up with my brakes and chain. Actually they applies engine oil as a chain lube. I scold them all when I seen this.
Thanks for the video, helped immensely. I bought 1 litre of motor oil and although I could see it going in, the lvl never rose to the markers. How much is needed? I read up that capacity is 1.5 liters.
well such a nice informative video to watch... having a 2013 cbr 250r myself made me love watching your videos.. hoping to see more videos relating to cbr 250r. need to know when to change the oil .. i mean after how many kms?
Hey @BrownBrady, is it ok in your opinion to add some oil into the oil filter and then put it in to avoid air bubbles? I usually do that. Also, have you tried Motul 300v10w40?
Great video by the way.Very nicely done. Do you think that soaking the new oil filter in new oil before placing it in the oil filter cover would be any help ....just wondering...
+Laurie Bass I don't think it would since it would get soaked anyway once you put it on. The only potential advantage I think would be that the gasket would be pre-soaked and would provide a better seal? Not sure.
Great video Question I just did an oil change on my cbr250r and there is steam coming from the engine when you turn it off. It comes for few seconds when you turn off the engine.is that normal.what would the issue be??
I just finished my oil change. My only concern is: the oil in the sight glass never filled. I put in a litre of oil. I don't have a bikestand but surely it should show it was filled? I idled the bike watching the glass and no change. No level drop but it's as if there's no oil in there at all.
Hi brownbrady great video very easy to follow. I’m having trouble loosening the bolt to release the oil it’s locked it pretty tight. Anyone has advice on how to loosen the bolt?
I'm assuming you're talking about the oil drain bolt or plug. First, make sure you're turning it counter-clockwise if you were facing the head of the bolt. Also, make sure you're using the correct socket with a long extension, and not a wrench. If you still cannot loosen it, stop before you round the bolt. You can also try an impact wrench, or try a penetrating lube spray.
If you know that you're using the precisely correctly sized socket ( and I'm not talking about one of those sockets that aren't "squared" and have easily 16+ little teeth...use a regular squared socket with 8 sides to it), if you can find the room. use a hammer be it a rubber mallet or metal hammer to tab the end of your ratchet to gentle break loose the drain plug. I have to do that sometimes on my civic si 05's .
Thanks for the advice! Wish I read your comments before forcing it and squared off the bolt lol 😆. I had to go to a mechanic to replace the bolt, and i changed the oil about a year ago. Im about to do it for the second time this afternoon and needed a refresher from your video. Thanks heaps! Really helpful video keep up the great work
Did our first oil change on this bike... It leaked badly out the filter cap area. I think we put the filter in backward and also, we didn't have another gadget that came with it. We will get a new gadget and do it again.
So I snapped one of the bolts for the oil cover.. (I used a torque wrench). Also, the oil filter was missing the spring. Any insiggt? , I haven't driven yet.

+spdklls7 I'm glad you found it helpful. Thanks for watching.
here in brazil honda recommends using 10w30. When changing oil, use a total of 1.5L. many are having problems with lack of lubrication in the engine.
Thanks for this video. About to change my oil and filter and this guide was perfect.
THANK YOU MY BOY BROWN
Great vid for those new to this. Tutorials are very helpful. Looking forward to the next one BB.

+tomfarr56 Good recommendation. I agree, those screws on the oil filter cap are hard to get to without removing the bottom fairing.
Seems your bike like your family member.. So clean and well maintained. I am planning to missing company free servicing because they messed up with my brakes and chain. Actually they applies engine oil as a chain lube. I scold them all when I seen this.
Liked and subbed. Amazing quality and detail. Thank you so much. You just saved me a lot of money.

It'll help......make a mess
i like pouring a good amount into the filter before hand. gets messy sure but also prevents air pockets from being trapped inside your beloved engine!
Great video! I have the exact same bike :) what stand do you you / where did you get it?

Hi brownbrady great video very easy to follow. I’m having trouble loosening the bolt to release the oil it’s locked it pretty tight. Anyone has advice on how to loosen the bolt?

Thanks for posting your question on my channel. Your question has been featured in the January 2018 episode about swingarm spool and lift stands.
Really helpful video keep up the great work
When will be the Giveaway of a cbr250r exhaust
Hey I was wondering if i could use the same replacement parts on my CBR 125? or are they completely separate models?
Would it be ok if i don't change the oil cap gasket when I change the oil? Or is it a must do?
nice vid man. thanks alot
+Navishkar Sadheo Thanks for watching.
Did our first oil change on this bike... It leaked badly out the filter cap area. I think we put the filter in backward and also, we didn't have another gadget that came with it. We will get a new gadget and do it again.
The tutorial was great but you didn't explain how many quarts of oil go into the motorcycle
So I snapped one of the bolts for the oil cover.. (I used a torque wrench).
Also, the oil filter was missing the spring.
Any insiggt? , I haven't driven yet.
Same thing happened to me last week while I was putting the last bolt on. Have you ordered a replacement bolt for the oil filter cover yet?
Can you just use a front stand to raise the bike or do you have to use a rear stand?
