Surprisingly , no mention of Bethlehem Steel , in Pennsylvania , the company that built most all of the pieces of the Golden Gate Bridge . At that time , there was no facility on the West Coast that could produce that much quality steel .
@@joseluisfernandez613 You are either a troll or know nothing. Bethlehem Steel made their own documentary film, it clearly shows they used freight trains to bring the fabricated parts to the Philadelphia harbor. It was then loaded aboard Bethlehem cargo ships , shipped through the Panama Canal, and up to the San Francisco Bay, where it was unloaded and stored at Bethlehem Steel facilities in the S.F East Bay at Alameda. The steel assemblies were barged from Alameda to the bridge construction site as needed.
The designers and engineers of the Golden Gate Bridge were fortunate that their design didn’t suffer the design flaw of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. The winds must be in the same range for both of these locations but the design of the Tacoma Narrows focused on making the deck structure lighter, if I’m not mistaken, and the harmonics of the movement caused by the wind were at a frequency that was self exciting and self amplifying, the deck structure with tragic results.
I like watching videos on your channel. Unlike short videos on other channels, you can learn a lot of interesting nuances about the subject of the story. Thank you very much.
This channel should do a video about Hanger One at Moffett Field. It’s almost done being re-clad after being stripped 10 years ago. It’s more stunning now than the day it was built. .
Sir no doubt Golden Bridge 🙂🙂pionner certainely but a mariage betwen engineering and natural beauty 🙂🙂tell us more about the widding, celebrated on the bridge in the night 🙂🙂no photos diffused 🙂🙂🙂
Great video Thank you, i heard many years ago that the painting crew starts at one end of the bridge and by the time they make it to the other end and finish, they go right back to the other end and start over, day after day, month after month, year after year
Sir on the Normandy & The island of Oleron bridges, 😅😅 the children singing quietely (sur le pont d'avignon) i realized that we need a college for knowledge😆😆 and architects engineers for bridges 😅😅😅otherwise we would be swimming to across🙂🙂🙂

Who cares
Bethlehem steel in Pennsylvania must of marched it over as well cuz they didn’t use boats or trains from the west coast right
Pennsylvania where 😂

Bc the documentary is about the bridge not the steel.
Stunning bridge and excellent documentary.
Well put together, love the documentary beautiful and sad story at the same time, ❤❤
The Sydney harbour bridge was just as important to sydney siders n was build around the same time.
❤❤❤❤ 😊😊 Thanks!
I love this bridge ♥️🙏🏼😊

Mind Blowing
Excellent program thank you

Unfortunately, the Golden Gate Bridge Highway & Transportation District uses it as a cash cow by endlessly increasing the bridge tolls.
How much is the toll?
@@PjDurkin-m9sbelieve it's up to 11 now
@@flipmode916 Wow! Outrageous!

🎉 congratulations 🎊
Wonder of the modern world, you say. 😮 P.s. second in line. 😅
It goes all the way to Suisun Bay and Fairfield Ca I lived there for 12 years in the 80s when I loved the lady's 😊

Wow. The gravity point is center for flyings. A jet wings on high golden meltings. One time only please.
Outstandind documentary, but I hate that metric system.
No...I love it. It is simple because it is decimal. All to do with 10.
And the scientific and engineering world use it throughout the globle
Protect the divers! Did they lose any people during construction???💞🇺🇸🙏✌

That’s not true five different crews tend to the worst areas year-round. Seven men on each crew.
@rrrobeltnest7295 for a total of 35 painting crew
When I was a kid I saw a movie where a giant Octopus took it out..Think the movie was called It came from beneath the sea.
Interesting documentary. I found it interesting that the building companies (six companies) and of course Bechtel Corporation aren't identified.

@21:09 it is still standing.....huhhh I hear Elton John 😂🎉❤
Looks nice from nyc
I feel the Varazanno bridge in New York is bigger than the golden gate bridge.
Why are all of the statistics given in the metric system? This was the 1930s!
Nowadays, they have to worry about an altogether different type of smoldering piles in San Francisco!
The bay bridge was built around the same time. That’s 2 suspension bridges connected.
SUASIDE BRIDGE 😊
I still think the forth bridge is more impressive.
1:21
I really didn't need 'longest span' explained😂
Obviously made for Canadian (metric system) audiences.
And a lot of the progressive Western world.
And Australia. 😁😃
39:33 UFO's? wtf?

"Really helpful". Yet over 2,000 jumpers lost. That is a catastrophe.

Karen ?
So? And yet you watched it.
sadly, its known for its gay bath houses - not the bridge.
What's wrong with that?
