I'll be the first to comment. That was nice to watch. Thank you for showing that. I had my 2nd class firemans licence once apon a time. Entery level to become a boiler engineer.
Built a small boiler before. Real fun doing the work. That's a lot of nice work you showed there. Thanks again

What does a 2nd class class fireman's licence mean?

Good question. That is a question on the exam for the state of Massachusetts.
I should know this by heart, but I had to look up the offical answer.
"This license allows the holder to operate any boiler or boilers under the engineer or fireman in direct charge thereof." So the criteria is as follows. 2nd Fireman, 1st Fireman, 3rd Engineer, 2nd Engineer, 1st Engineer & State Inspector. I think you can jump the line if you had boiler experience in the military or The Merchant Marines. At the discretion of the State Inspector. Every state in the U.S. has its own rules.@stuartdixon747

Thanks Harold really interesting vidio, I think I'll have no problem with my Tich boiler, I was always dubious whether I would have enough heat just with propane. I do have the Seivert burners including the large one plus the cyclone burner to do the stays, so I should be okay. I have started soldering the boiler together, I was just concerned I'd have enough heat when I got to the foundation ring, thank for the confidence building vidio from the good old 1990's when things were still normal.

Glad you found the old video of use, when I built the boiler for my tich it was silver soldered without any problems using the Seivert torch,it really is a powerfull setup is the seivert, I compleatley silver soldered a Maisie boiler with the gear,I just recomend that when you come to the foundation ring you are best to carefully pack round the outside and inside with some broken firebrick or somthing simmilar to keep the heat, and thank you Martyn for watching the video.

@@popperkeg1234 thanks for letting me know about the LBSC group, I will check them out. Mine has slip eccentrics also, and is running on air now. Lots of work still to do on the boiler fittings and tanks. I post new videos every week or two. Many thanks! Bill.
