  • Toyota 3.4 Timing Belt Replacement
    This is an updated video, I had released this video a week ago but the video got flagged for Copyright Claim. So I had to go back and edit the video. In this video I have a 3.4 Toyota that needs the timing belt replaced due to maintenance. I will show you how to replace this timing belt and some of the tools I use. Let's go get it.

    I wish more videos were like this!!! It’s so helpful a lot when things are explained and you can watch step by step on how to do things with explanations of what to do and not to do and why. This was extremely helpful and I’ll definitely subscribe.

      Thank you very much, honestly the whole reason I started my channel is because when I first starting working on diesels I did not have any training or any techs to help me. I would research on TH-cam what to test and how for a symptom, or if it was a repair I would skim through for the important info. I am happy to pass a long my experience and love to hear when it helps people out. If you have any questions message me on Instagram. I have actually helped quite a few people with specific things on Instagram. Thank you for watching I appreciate it.

    Here is my take on that harmonic balancer. I just took one off today actually. While it was very snug side to side, ie trying to pry it off, wasn't happening. What I ended up doing is, it had a very slight looseness turning, ie clockwise ad counter clockwise just a tiny bit as it contacted the woodruff key. This was enough with outward pressure to slide it off the crank.:) now just looking for the bolts holding the ac compressor tensioner housing.

    • @NutsandBoltswithTone
      @NutsandBoltswithTone  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You have to remove compressor from bracket then the ac bracket. 4 bolts in compressor then 4 or 5 in bracket. Thx for watching

      @@NutsandBoltswithToneI’m having SO much trouble with this. The bolts on the compressor are really hard to reach and some bolts won’t come out fully because they hit the frame before they can fully come out. I have a 2003 Tacoma 3.4L.

    As long as you have all the timing marks lined up with the engine top dead center compression stroke does it really matter where the lines on the belt is

    • @NutsandBoltswithTone
      @NutsandBoltswithTone  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are referring to the lines on a new belt the answer is not however those lines are there to make sure that all the cams and crank all line up correctly. So I mean I guess the lines do matter just not sure what you are referring to. If you message me on my Instagram I can try to help you more. Thanks for watching.

    • @stevanrose7439
      @stevanrose7439 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      After you have all the timing marks lined up and the belt on you should be good to go. It’s recommended that you turn the engine over two times by hand. And when you do the belt marks and the cam marks won’t be lined up any more.
      Maybe after several hundred revolutions they might come together and then be off again after the next revolution.

    • @NutsandBoltswithTone
      @NutsandBoltswithTone  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah you do because you need to remove upper radiator hose, also why would you not replace water pump? That seems odd to me. I would personally never replace a timing belt with the water pump not even on my own vehicle. Thanks for watching and good luck.

    What I have done in the past is to put a piece of cardboard inbetween the fan and the radiator that way there is a cushion so the fan doesn’t hit the radiator.

      Then you cannot use paint markers, you have to align all the sprockets and make sure it is timed properly. Then roll the engine over 2 full times and confirm all your timing marks lines up. Thanks for watching.

    • @NutsandBoltswithTone
      @NutsandBoltswithTone  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well maybe it was only certain years I am not sure, I just know that everytime I do a timing belt on one of these I have learned to tell the service advisor if it is FED or CA. I have got the wrong water pumps so many times that I learned my lesson. The reason for the different water pump is if it has an external oil cooler on driver side of block. Sorry if you wasted your time I am just trying to help people out. Thank you for watching.
