What you said about the MXR Distortion + is hilarious and true. Yes, those things do indeed sound like a box of bees. But I liked it when I was fifteen and used an old one from the 70s to boost my JMP stack. It gave me that Randy Rhoads tone, which isn't my cup of tea these days. Two years out of sheer nostalgia I bought another MXR. It did nothing for me. It was the worst of all my pedals. I much prefer the Boss SD-1, Ibanez Tube Screamer, ProCo Rat, Friedman BE-OD, and the JHS Andy Timmons. But the best of all was the SD-1. That's about the most usable overdrive pedal out there.
