Phalanx was used initially by Greeks and the formation spread from there. Citizen soldiers in armor with heavy round shields and spears strong from the front but weak from the flanks. The Roman legions used a similar adapted system that allowed for more flexibility in the field. If a falanx could be anchored so they could not be flanked, it would be hard to beat.
God. I love the armchair historians on some if these channels. Perhaps future generations won't be as ignorant. Good on you, good people. Teaching isn't a profession, it's a lifestyle.
@@carlfranz6805 wouldn't all historians be armchair historians. Historians mainly compile and compear various sources and that can be done from the comfort of an armchair
I'm just envisioning 'the tools in the shed' being like Ironman's home or possibly Washu's lab, if you know Tenchiverse. Some kind of fully automated Depot class facility just hidden under the shack and shrugging into action when the nice befuddled aliens were in the shack for lunch.

The explanation of what a phalanx is was completely wrong but since it is coming from a space hillbilly it's also entirely in character.
Its correct in s very simplified way
@@_tertle3892 well the Romans did use phalanxes early in their history but I think the formation this story is referring to is a maniple

as a beginning banjo player "angry banjo strumming" is a sentence that is now gonna stick with me for eternity
“Are you sure we don’t owe you anything?”
“Get the hell off my lawn”
Thank god I wasn’t drinking anything when that line came out

You have to fly a ship to get whats wrong with it.
How about last first and first last
Now I want to see a hillbilly working at NASA because sadly I know he would do a great job.
you think there aren't?
There have been a few.
For the Author(s), for the narrator Agro Squirrel, for the algorithm !!!
I initially thought that when they landed their ship was gonna descend into the dirt into a massive underground workshop
I was expecting a more combat directed story, but this was a great surprise.
The entire time I'm just imaging banjo strumming everytime Emmet speaks
I'd swear that hillbilly was my dad. From his opinions, humor, and mechanical skills. Talked very much like him too.
"Angry banjo strumming followed"
A savant in the woods is just fine.
This characters one liners are hilarious 🤣
people power..huya!
people may be small...but they are legion! trying to be good and helping each other can go a long way..
