    I forget the exact figure but somewhere around one amp + or - about 300mA, so not too much. I think I may have gotten it to 2A once but that may have been with a short thick arc or with a CRT TV.

    I agree. I made an astable 555 driver (that uses the 2n3904 and 2n3906 with a power transistor). I rectified a 24vac 900ma power supply and put it in series with a 6v battery and a 12vdc power supply, while using a 2nd 6v battery to drive the 555. It was a total of 42 volts going to the flyback and I got 75kv out of it and 3 inch sparks. There was very high current and it was enough to burn plastic and melt wires on contact.

    If I had 3 pins that had continuity with each other, how would which 2 are my primary? Or is all 3 interchangeable?

    CRT's implode when broken. Best to deactive them by breaking the vacuum seal with pliers at the end of the gun assy. There will only be a few seconds of air rushing in. Protect your eyes with safety glasses before doing so.

    The horizontal output transistor that drives the flyback transformer in most tvs have 160vdc on them. So 160vdc is high speed swimming the flyback.

  • @quicknuclearscience
    @quicknuclearscience  12 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    WOW! Sounds like the 555 drivers are way ahead of the 2n3055, still you had an amazing setup with 42volts. Did the 42v kill the flyback?

  • @DashzRight
    @DashzRight 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    HI , I have a question for professionals, (or maybe not).
    Energy is transformed right nor created or destroyed, then if the power of a 12v 10A battery is 120 Watts and those 120 watts don't kill you even if you put the battery in your tongue, Why these flybacks are so dangerous? They keep outputing 120 w with a higher voltage but the amperage is inversely proportional so there should be not much current flowing...
    This is troubling to say the least.

    @axelasdf Thanks:) My camera has no spot for an external microphone so instead when im editing videos in imovie i take away some of the background noise. As a consequence of less background noise i sound like im on the phone so do you think i should sound more normal with more background noise or on the phone with less background noise.

    What is the voltage of the TV transformer?

  • @petermines
    @petermines 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This is quite the case. There is often a great deal of misconception over the current/ voltage issue where folk tend to say that it is the current that kills. EHT is quite capable of killing a person at just a few milliamps.

  • @MagicManTD
    @MagicManTD 11 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @teslascoiler459

    in order to get bigger sparks,
    you simpley need to use a higher voltage on the flyback driver,
    like 12 volts, cuz other flybacks that i know of work with 12 volts...

  • @azizjamalitalhar5399

    Try swapping the MJE13009 for a TIP35C and you will get a much better arc. I have tried with several different transistors including both the MJE and TIP. TIP wins hands down. The rest of circuit keep as is. I also tried MJE13009 in parallel also TIP35C and 2N3055 the 2N3055 wins the parallel. I am going to go the voltage way and try mosfets next. Keep experimenting its great fun!

    My morbid curiosity forced me to watch more especially considering the comments. At 11.29 my heart was in my mouth, you grabbed the CRT in such a way that was soooo dangerous.... good grief.... if that neck had broken (And they are fragile at this point) with your hand around it, you could have been picking glass out of your hand for weeks.
    Dealing with a subject like this that you clearly have little knowledge of is wrong......and dangerous.......

    Hi, Brad
    You'll realize far better results winding your own primary and feedback coils (4 to 5 turn primary and 2 to 3 turn feedback)
    Of course you'll need to find a flyback transformer with sufficient core-space to accommodate said windings --- Useful transformers are often present in older TVs and CRT monitors...
    Most flyback transformers don't contain windings adaptable to the Royer topology -- Hence the presenter's difficulty locating a suitable transformer...

    My guess is that is is in the range of 500uA or 1mA but it could be higher or lower, that is purely based on guessing. I doubt it would kill you, with sparks like mine, but it would burn you, some of the people with huge arcs with zvs or 555 drivers could get enough power to kill you.

    I did not finish watching the video because of the distracting background noise.
    More than likely that flyback assembly has a part number printed on it. If you
    Google that part number you can find a link to a schematic diagram of the flyback itself or a television containing that flyback. One or the other of these schematics will list pin numbers which will help you identify the corresponding terminal pins on the flyback assembly. I did this for a very similar flyback assembly not too long ago. I don't know where I saved the .pdf file of that schematic or I would give you a link to it. It did not take long to find.

    DUDE you help NO ONE, if we can't hear YOU nor handle what all the fidgeting with the mic going on, WTF??? There is no point in making an INFORMATIONAL video if we can't make out what you say, or in order to hear you, end up deaf from the amplified sounds of shit hitting the mic. Did you LISTEN to this before uploading it? Normally I would subscribe to a channel providing insight to my interests, or current projects but NO WAY!!! Clean up your audio and video skills then try again or there is no point doing them at all! IT NEVER STOPS!!! You might be so thrilled you got over 100 likes but 56 downs would be ZERO Downs, if you put a little QUALITY into the production! And NO, the info is not so worthy if we can't get THROUGH the whole thing or understand what we suffered through!
    FTR I say what I have constructively, to HELP you see where the faults lie, so you can improve, and not because I wish to insult you, I think you have viable info to share or I would not have bothered saying anything at all. but as mentioned it is of no use if it can't be gleaned from what's here! Maybe write up a transcript with time, and I'll read and watch without volume! ;-)
