    Well, a Leica M6 is not really know to be weather sealed and had no plans to find out how it could handle rain but while I was shooting in St. Petersburg it started to rain and I refused to stop shooting. xD
    For all of you who where concerned when I posted a photo of my wet M6 on Instagram, I can assure you that the camera still works just fine. Also my 28mm Summicron survived the rain without any issues.
    See you soon in the next one!

    If people stop and think about it, imagine how much in depth there is to a different world of possible photographs when rain is introduced. It’s an entirely different world opened up . Good on you for getting out there and making it happen!

    Kudos to your guts to shoot with the M6 in the rain and with a flash🙀👍! Here in Germany I would expect to go from streetphotography into a decent streetfight if I would try this (or at least a somewhat nasty discussion with the police)🤪🥳. And although I‘m not the biggest fan of streetphotography with a flash, your pics came out pretty good😃👍👋!

    Hi Robin, are you still using that new very small video camera you bought like 2 months or so ago ?
    The raindrops on the video camera lens gave some sort of nice bokeh stars around the lights, very nice.
    Thanks for walking in the rain to share this video hehehe.
    Greetings

    A small "umbrella", made out of a piece of plastic, would prevent the lens of the GoPro getting wet. Or at least reduce a volume of water on the lens. Likewise, I was using plastic bags to cover the camera a lot during the downpour. A hole on it for the lens, then you put a lens hood from the outside, maybe a smaller hole on the bag for the viewfinder and voila! Now granted, I vas using autofocus cameras, both film and digital, without any issues. Doing that with the manually focussing lens is a bit trickier...

    It’s crazy how much you decomplex the idea of shooting with the flash. I do shoot, my own with the flash in the streets, but I do always feel guilty and very weird about it. Idk.

    Flash at night probably depends where you live. I shot someone with flash at night in Los Angeles once (Hollywood). I'd just shot an event for someone and was walking back to my car. I had my camera and flash with me, and that was the only time i've ever been yelled at by someone after taking a pic. Plus people here will stab you.. 😬

    • @therealsirrobin

      If people react in such an aggressive way then there are for sure some underlying issues responsible. Something for Sociologists to think about. 😆

    Thanks again for your video! And thanks for mentioning the flash problems - I own 3 Leica M6 (silver, black & titan) and the flash Q20 II is not working on all three of them. I bought this flash because I've seen it in your videos and it is disappointing that it doesn't work on my M6 cameras. It doesn't fire when I take a picture but it fires perfectly afterwards when the film is not transported to the next frame - in this state it is perfectly synced and flashes everytime I hit the release button but it won't once the next frame should be taken. It is a pitty!!!

    • @therealsirrobin
      @therealsirrobin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it's a little annoying and they should try to fix the issue when they have a new version at some point.

  • @wahyan112

    I found the Q20 is pretty finicky.
    Works with most of my film cameras. Works with my cheap film Canon Rebel G, but will not work with either of my two Canon Elan 7.

    • @huij1099
      @huij1099 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m super confused =,D I’ve got 3 Rollei 35’s and I bought one of the Q20 however I just can’t get them to work with it aswell. The cameras r all functioning they will work with any other flash I have, but the Q20 will only work with 2 of my SLR’s.
      I think they should probably disclose that it won’t work with some film cameras, I only bought it cause I saw on their Chinese site they had a picture of it with a Rollei 35 😭😭

    • @therealsirrobin
      @therealsirrobin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it's really strange. Hopefully they will come out with a new version and address those issues.

    • @therealsirrobin

      Less flash would introduce more motion blur. When shooting portraits you have more control but in this case it's simply not possible.

    • @thomasjames7644

      On camera flash makes everything look flat and takes away any dimensionality by taking away shadows. Just taking the flash off the same axis as the lens will fix that.
