    This is how you make a "passing the torch" movie. 1. you don't belittle or humiliate your old hero, but you show he still kicks ass. 2. you make a new generation that is eager and brave but inexperienced 3. you put them together in a tough situation, and you have them both survive and win through their mutual collaboration and determined grit. This movie will always be a clear message by Tom Cruise to Hollywood on how they ruined entire franchises through bankrupt, box-ticking obsessed hubris and massive disrespect.

      It's just too bad the rest of the story was so much lower quality than the action.
      Action movies don't have to be that way. There's so many with serviceable plots and non combat scenes.

      Exactly.
      Star Wars, Terminator, Indiana Jones, 007, and other remade/rebooted franchise treated their iconic protagonists with nauseating levels of disrespect. The T-800 was reduced to raising a family and selling curtains... (facepalm)

    This scene right there is one of the best times in my life. So a week before me and my best bud go to watch this movie, we always have been loved aviation, especially the military one, and my friend here is a sociopath (for me lol). He always loves to see a cringe thing like the North Vietnamese airforce capturing the South Vietnamese F-5, Iranian F-4 and F-14 or the Taliban using a Blackhawk but I'm the opposite I hate those kinds of things and y'all probably know how things would end lol.....So for like a whole damn week before we went to see the movie, he had been talking about how he'd love to see the protagonist capture the F-14 and I'm just brushing it off every time and betting it'll never gonna happen in the film, YES IT DOES HAPPEN IN THE MOVIE LOL that scene his body just shaking with excitement that I've never seen him like that before and keep laughing meanwhile me is just in the denial mode like 3:06 lol. It was a great time but hey that F-14 scene is just PERFECT and I love it.

      You’re calling a Su57 Gen 5? More like 4.25. 😁
      Seriously, those things are ten times less stealthy than an F35; 1 m3 vs. 0.1m3. They have poorly fitted panels and exposed rivets and the design is poor without serpentine inlets that hides the fan blades from radar. They look good though.
      I like how some of them have camouflage that’s darker towards the center of the plane which incorporates the Su27 planform; i.e., the inner, darker area looks like a typical Su27 shape to fool the enemy into thinking they’re dealing with a 27 instead of a 57. Clever.

      in reality there should been F-35s covering them.. i like this movie a lot but the excuse of "no GPS no F-35" was quite lazy.. even if it would be true (Fat Amy can and does laser guided bombs) they could still use them to cover them from the 57s.. as they were the main threat in this mission..
      But well its a movie..in reality they wouldnt attack with just 4 jets either.. it would be a quite large operation with lots of groups of jets doing several tasks (SEAD, escort, EW)

      The F-14 does not have a starter, it needs an external source for electricity for the electrical system and external air to spin the turbines fast enough for the pilot to ignite the compressed air/fuel in the combustion chamber. At that point, the ground crew disconnects the connectors, pulls the pins while the pilot and rio go through their check list and align the INS.

    Of course one must stretch the imagination for most movies but the way Rooster played his part in these scenes was kind of a downer. Everything about the F-14 was new to him. Even the swing-wing design. If his dad flew in one he should have been more knowledgeable. Also he is a total rookie in the back seat as the F-14 maneuvers. He acts like he's never been in a jet before.

    • @perryallan3524
      @perryallan3524 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Always... You need the wings out for all low speed maneuvers. Rooster had never been in a swing wing aircraft before - so he had never seen it in real life before.

    • @root1657
      @root1657 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Roosters point was more of, shouldn't you do that at the runway, this isn't the runway. When the wings started to move, he realized what Maverick was about to do. He would have also noticed the engines starting to spin up as Mav held the brakes as long as he could for a max power takeoff. When the brakes couldn't hold the plane anymore, he releases the brakes, hits the afterburners, and Rooster feels more power flowing through the F-14 than the F-18 can produce, and at that point, they're fully committed, cause there wasn't enough space to shut it down and stop, thus, Rooster spouts the explative.... Maverick mumbles to himself "needle is alive' meaning that his airspeed indicator is working, which is good piloting from day one, so he's back to basics, and then the only thing that matters is that the airspeed be enough for him to rotate the nose up and hope the engines are functioning at full power, which should be enough to brute force the F-14 in to the air regardless of airspeed once its nose up.

      Over the years there have been several aircraft with variable swept wings. The wings are unfolded (spread out) at low speed and take off and landing to provide more wing surface area which increases lift. This helps keep the plane in the air at the lower speeds. At higher speeds the wings are fold back against the plane to allow more speed. This allows the plane to slice through the air like a pointed knife.....
      Ice skaters do slow spins with their arms held out and pull their arms in to their body to spin faster.
