- Bare with me! This video is LONG! Perhaps unnecessary but here it is! In it I go over cleaning Vintage Coach Hardware, the NYC made and the after NYC Vintage coated solid brass hardware. Different techniques!
This is Part 1, part 2 will show you how to remove and reinstall your hardware (or at least how I do it;)
Labour of love❤🎉
I just bought preloved Fletcher, I believe. The inside plastic zipper is not moving freely, do you have any tricks or tips to improve it. I will be washing the whole bag- donking, because it is very dirty in one spot inside. I need to buy some brasso too. I am excited to work on it🎉I have few Coach bags already and I love them all.
This is a great video! Thanks so much for sharing, friend! Have a wonderful day 🌹
I’m new to vintage coach and you are one of my favorite people to watch. I’ve learned so much from you! I ordered a cute little pink make up bag from you yesterday.( I love pink). It’s trimmed in gold and I’m not sure how to clean it up a little. If you have any tips please share. It wasn’t an expensive piece but I plan on keeping it for myself. Thanks for sharing your knowledge 💜.
Me too... polishing is not may favorite part but I love the polished look 😊
Quick comment about brass pieces that have sealer on it. You can take it off with a lacquer remover or acetone. It would save you a lot of time scrubbing and it wouldn't leave any scratches
I’m definitely going to test this!!!!
I have a Roll Bag in British tan that I’m restoring and bought replacement spring lock ! Hopefully this video helps ! I’ll share it to your Facebook group when it’s done 😊
I just picked up a patrica legacy with brass hardware- did they make them with brass hardware or only nickle?
Both
Have you ever had to replace a turn lock. If so what did you use. Also putting those turn locks back on is hard!
I use thin pliers in bags that are a bit more difficult. You really are just starting at the bottom of the prongs to tighten them together then I typically Finnish with a pressing method. I have had to only replace one turnlock and I sacrificed another bag in poor condition for its turnlock. I prefer using original hardware.
@@birdybloom2 Thank you! Ordered some turn locks from the the Buckle Guys. I have a Stewardess bag with a really wobbly turn lock. I haven't been doing this long enough to have a sacrificial bag yet lol!
