The C rating is sometimes the continuous discharge, and sometimes the burst depending how the manufacturer lables it. It is sometimes deceptive. When buying batteries check the specs to see what the continuous discharge is and burst. For example: a 50C battery could have a burst of 100. Or the lable could be the burst, for example: a 50C battery would discharge at 25 continuous, 50 burst.
What’s the difference between these 2 things?
Me and my kids are starting what i use to like 35 yars ago and today is a total other world. So we have two aarma granite brush and a litle hyper go street basher truck , we have absolute no intention on competing or racin but your contant is so helping thank you for the info. Is there an 11.1v nimh battery for rc cars??? And my rc car has a nimh battery can you buy a conecter that changes it to deens and use lipo battery or you can't do that
Taha YT614 you can change the connector but be sure that your rc supports a lipo

Could anyone please help me with NIMH information as I am just getting contradicting answers all of the time.
1. Do you need to 'condition' a new NIMH battery by slow charging it and discharging it multiple times?
2. Is a slow charge better than a fast charge to ensure longevity of the battery?
3. What is the best charge rate for longevity? 0.1C, .05C, 1C?
Great video. I was wondering have you had tried Li ion 18650’s as they’re 3.7Volts and wouldn’t 3 together be 11.1V? I’m a newbie, but looking at LiPo, NiMH, and Lithium-ion, wouldn’t a lot of low voltage/run time be eliminated with the 18650 lithium-ion? And all the change time danger concerns be obsolete? I know nothing and looking to start out with my son, but the more I learn, the more I question the LiPo technology. I know weight is a factor too, but aren’t they relatively the same weight, just less cells with Li-ion? Thanks so much for any input. 😉🙏🏼🇨🇦
yes you can use 18650,s. the ones used by vapers have high discharge current. run them in series and parallel to get some serious power!
You don’t even understand how much you’ve helped me. I am a beginner with a Traxxas slash 4x4 with the stock battery and had no idea how these batteries worked and am just getting into the hobby so I’m buying a Traxxas trx4 sport and I couldn’t decide weather to buy a lipo battery or a NiMh battery until now. Also, anyone have a recommandations on what I should get next?
From what i have seen, the use of LIPO batteries is more complicated over the use of NIMH. Their care and use is complicated and seem to have no real advantage over NIMH. I am just a hobbyist and not dedicated RC FREAK, running TAMIYA 1/16 RC TANKS, and RC CROSS MC8 1/12 CRAWLER. I am not very technically minded but can see the use of LIPO in high performance RC, but in my case can see no real advantage for the extra care and sensitivity of LIPO. I would like your opinion as i currently have both batteries, the LIPO came with the RC CROSS KIT, so not sure whether to use it or just use NIMH. Appreciate your video. ps, i am an old fart.
You are absolutely correct. It all depends on your application, for a slower RC as in a Tank or a Rock Crawler or even a Tractor and Trailer you are better off using a NiMh Battery. LIPO batteries would be more recommended for any RC that has the capability of reaching very high speeds, like a Brushless Boat, Bashing or Racing RC. 👍 I hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

I respect the power and the many uses but once you tell me its flammable I'm out not for nothing I will have to settle for the nickels and I look at it this way if Traxxas is still making nickels its gotta be something substantial. All the warning signs on the lipo's is plenty of reasons to not use them.
So i have a question, i need a 7.4 volt barrery and i noticed that the lithium ion batteries are quite expensive for small ones, could i just use a 7.4 volt nimh battery instead?
You can use a 7.2Nimh battery. 👍

7:39 "Only use Lipo chargers for Lipo batteries". People really should extend that. It could've been a disaster for me if I wasn't around the battery. A beginner who knows nothing about RC, charging his cheap lipo battery with a cheap nimh charger

You will see a noticeable decrease in performance before your NiMH battery goes flat. With a LiMh battery it will stay consistent all the way through its use until it stops working
