  • Time moves fast enough, sure. But when you've had a slow month of fishing sometimes you really look forward to the next month. And today didn't disappoint! I caught my biggest fish in over 4 months, and every trout was a pretty decent size - or larger!
    The new lures from the fall resupply are paying dividends already!

    The exploring is more fun to watch. I’m mean it’s fun to see you catch fish, but there are 1000 channels of guys just catching fish. Your channel inspires to explore.

    Hi Aaron, so glad I stumbled upon ur channel. I too am from PA. Bucks county area. I have the same fine tail you are using with a steez ct sv tw with a 5.3gram dyi spool in it and it cast like a dream. Just got into bfs this year and I am in love. I was spinning my whole life. Never even owned a baitcaster until the steez and now I have two and an 22 aldebaran coming too. I fish small stream for trout and small mouth. Sooo much fun. Thank you for your videos. I really enjoy them.

      Awesome - sounds like similar story to me - always a spinning guy until this year! Steez is awesome. I'll get one eventually! Maybe we'll get a chance to chase a few together sometime.

    I could tell by the way your drag sounded that trout #2 was big. From the sound of your voice, your adrenaline was going too! Man... I love it. Some really nice trout on this day. Cool to see them jumping and following at times as well. 👍

    Some super trout there , if just stocked , they can tend to shoal up as they are fed on pellets at the farm , so you get pockets of em , but reckon you chose the right approach and found em . Fishing is like that here (France) , I flog away - nuthin - then some days locate a group of perch ( probably a cousin of your smallmouth) , yesterday after a tough session I caught a monster chub - biggest I've ever caught , I'm same mindset as you , like hack the jungle and get to spots others won't bother with .

    • @AaronHuntFishing
      @AaronHuntFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      definitely some recent stockers in there. But some nice holdover and well established fish too. I tie enough leaders and such without crossing lines with others. I definitely enjoy my space. Part of why Steelhead season lost it's appeal for me years ago.... so I'll probably go during bad weather just to have more space.

    Looks like a nice little trip.
    At least you got some decent sized trout. Our trout down here are much smaller. A 13" trout is a nice trout from one of our tiny rivers.

    • @AaronHuntFishing
      @AaronHuntFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of our streams that are true put and take stocked waters average 10-12". I'm thrilled I have a handful of special regulation streams that have larger fish around me. I never really knew about them until last year! Although I've yet to hook up in the "Trophy Trout" section - big water I haven't figured out. Probably need to take the crankbaits there and give it a go!

    Trout is one of the few species I keep to eat , they are all stock trout in my area of west virginia so its either keep and eat ir they just die out . I dont think any of them have ever been the size of those first 2 though , those were giants

    • @AaronHuntFishing
      @AaronHuntFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. They were definitely nice fish, and that stream absolutely has fish that survive the summer. In fact I think one of the fish I caught had some milt seeping. I didn't notice it when I was filming but saw it during editing. So it's a healthy stream for sure!

    Interesting that you like the Micro Fly braid. I had heard good things about it and ordered some 9lb test. It was the diameter advertised but only tested out at 3 pounds breaking strength. I would be very curious as to whether yours meets its listed strength.

    • @AaronHuntFishing
      @AaronHuntFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course I don't know for sure, but I do know that the Gekkabijin Braid and the Varivas Master Trout have broken on me while tying my fg knots. Can't recall the Kingdom doing that. Most of my largest fish this year have come on the Micro Fly. And I've used the PE 0.2, 0.4, and 0.6. The Varivas Master Trout Limited is really nice stuff though. Casts amazingly well. Haven't been thrilled with the Gekka braid or the Varivas Bait Finesse (of course it was on the AATW too, so...)
      I will say the Kingdom had some issues tying directly to lures, where the Varivas did not. But with the Fluoro leader I've really liked it.
      And I still need to get some Daiwa J-braid and give it a go.

    • @jayludvigh6958
      @jayludvigh6958 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AaronHuntFishing The J braid is very nice in all respects. The problem that I had with the Micro Fly was not knot strength. When testing with a digital scale, it would consistantly break between the knots at a tensile pull of 2.8 to 3.1 pounds. This breaking strain was consistant with its thin diameter. I wondered how such a thin line could be 9 lb test. It may be a fine 3 pound test line but my sample did not perform as rated.

    • @AaronHuntFishing
      @AaronHuntFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jayludvigh6958 It is cool that you test all those things. It seems to hold up well on my FG knots, but definitely had a few weird breakoffs when tying directly to the lure. I'll give the j-braid a try soon. Any suggestions on a budget rod to replace the Venom that broke?

    • @jayludvigh6958
      @jayludvigh6958 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AaronHuntFishing Two very good quality affordable rods that I like a lot are the 6'3" John Coo Vivid ( assuming you are OK with the bright blue band) and the 6" Mavlos Delicacy. Both of them come with ULand L tips. The CU Double is alsv very good but I don't like the handle (although Bass N Bonsai has a nice tutorial about how to replace it with cork.)
