Dude not only did they make fun of the show in all the right ways, ALL the actors absolutely NAILED every role! Having watched "Girls" religiously, this sketch deserves an award for one of the most spot on parodies.

I was super disappointed when I realised that this is a parody.

I think there are different types of emotional maturity.
For example, walking around in an Elsa-Frozen-onesie is considered childish, but I'd call it childlike.
You are still a mature woman, you just chose this because you liked it.
If you were to wear it to work, it'd be childlike-stupid, being unaware of the consequences.
AND (the most important one, if you ask me) immature behaviour towards other humans, like spamming messages to your ex with an anonymous phone. Or wishing bad things to people out of jealousy.
A.k.a. not being able to understand how others might feel, being self-centered and making social statements that might hurt feelings, is also very childish.
And that's the stereotype of the Americans. The complaining, judgemental people that can't think for themselves and are not open-minded.
And I think the Europeans are (stereotypically!!!) more mature when it comes to those things. But that doesn't mean we don't wear onesies or like unicorns.
Sums up this generation.
Now I am really sad that Blerta is not an actual character on the show...

When my boyfriend and I started dating, we watched Girls for 2 months. One night, after the show, I turned to him and asked him what he liked most about the show. He said he didn't know and that he was just watching it with me because I liked it so much. I just kind of blinked at him for 15 seconds before I said "Brian, I had never once seen this show before you turned it on after we had sex on the couch 4 weeks ago."
Turns out we had somehow each come to the conclusion that it was the other person's favorite show, and were watching it to make the other happy.

I watched one season and good damn! that was boring! not only that but felt like the writter made all the character unlikable on purpose, and i'm a person that saw and ENJOYED desperate housewives and Sex in the city . Yet they manage to make the girls from girls way more annoying,obnoxious and boring i swear i ask myself how HBO gave so many seasons to that!?
Dr Thuganomics LOL, I think Lena Dunham was one of the writers. I watched all of it, mostly for Adam Driver lol. But by the end of it, I was disappointed and annoyed with the whole show.

I actually thought it was the worst character impression- it was the most exaggerated. The character doesn't pout and speak in a baby voice and the head tilted down/eyes tilted down thing is a total Ally McBeal mannerism that Hannah Horvath doesn't do. It's an impression of generic feminine whininess, but not really an accurate replication of that character's mannerisms. I only know it's supposed to be her because I was told. Otherwise it seems like a teenage version of Calista Flockhart.

I'm afraid Blerta has a point. I have never been for euthanizing the simple-minded before. But the ... "Woman-children" on this show make me want to go to New York, and throw _them all_ into the Long Island Sound bay!

This is what I've always assumed happened in Girls...minus Blerta. Just a bunch a hipster girls struggling to decide what pair of overalls to wear at that one guys party who one of em loves but kinda doesn't because life is so hard, and they think their parents suck. lol basically a show designed for intense consumption of wine.

They used Albania, but I think it was just supposed to be "Generic Balkans/Slavic/Eastern European Lady"

Wotsma Naym You weren't, & that's why Girls' ratings slid so badly in it's 2nd season. Once the shock value of it's over-the-top sex scenes wore off, viewers realized it was just a Sex in the City rip-off with worse dialogue, sleazier situations & less likeable characters.

I love Girls and this was BEYOND spot on!! LoL All the actresses did the four characters perfectly. I miss this show so much...
This sketch was freaking amazing and the impersonations were just...wow. Watching this I can't help thinking that Nöel Wells was so overlooked on the show, and I'm sad for her to leave SNL.
By the way, Kate McKinnon is gonna be the next Kristen Wiig, she's by far the best cast member now on the show, amazing in every role.

Why people make controversy over stereotyping albanians?, At first I thought this was making fun of the shallow, silly and pretentious lives of the characters on the tv show.
Well that's what I saw.
Agreed. I felt the whole point was contrasting vapid, overpampered and overdramatic characters with someone who had actually survived a tough background. I absolutely loved it.
Partly because Eastern Europe/Balkans exist in a kind of limbo where they are "foreign and weird" to Americans, but they are also viewed as white enough so that it's okay to stereotype them as poor and undeveloped. No put in an African in Blerta's place and people would've lost their shit.
But yeah, the main joke is about the Girls characters, of course.
I had an Albanian roomate with long dark hair like that but her name was Gerta not blerta
