  • This 2007 Toyota 4Runner has a slight smoky smell that I would like to get rid of. Doing small things to help out such as cleaning everything real good and swapping the cabin air filter out may help.
    It was very easy to replace this filter. I show you just how I did it in this video.
    Also I did some research and the thing in the video that fell off that I did not know the name of, was a Glove Box Damper.
    Thank you for watching :)

    That was great!
    You can also buy a filter with charcoal to eliminate the smelly things that pass through it.

    Good way to save money, they will rake you over the coals for in cabin filters at the dealership or oil change place. My favorite is when they tell me I need a new cabin/engine filter after I've already replaced it myself, lol.

    Spray Lysol and a car air freshener like odor x in the fresh air intake just below the passenger windshield wiper

    My 4Runner is a 1994 > even IF it has one of these; I'm betting the plastic parts would break before bending, lol > glad I watched, but I think I'd better let it be...🥴

    Air flow arrows point down... Right?

    • @FreedomChaser
      @FreedomChaser  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It seem some of these filters will have an arrow pointing up and actually say "up" on the filters, where some will say "air flow" and point up but it should go upside down. The old filter said nothing of the two. Also when both sides of the new filter look identical... A tad confusing for the everyday person who knows not much about cars if you ask me. Thanks for pointing that out for us to learn better.

      @@FreedomChaser
      An arrow that says "UP" does not indicate air flow. It merely means "This Side Up". Up arrows should point up obviously. However, all horizontally mounted cabin air filters with the blower motor mounted below the filter will have downward air flow. Cabin air filters with arrows indicating air flow direction should point down. A cabin air filter with arrows but without the words "Air Flow" or "UP" should also point down because by default arrows on the edge of an air filter do indicate air flow direction. WIX & NAPA have such arrows. Thus the only time the arrows should point up is when it says "UP" next to the arrows like the OEM Toyota filter.
