  • I install the KC Flex Era 4 lights with red bezels on my 2020 Jeep Gladiator using the Jeep Aux Switches. I also add some red KC stickers to the lens covers to complete the look.
    **WARNING ***** UPDATE - I did a 4 hour road trip with the covers on and the back light on and there was enough heat generated to ripple the covers.*********************
    You can find the KC stickers here: www.etsy.com/l...

    Well done - even with a bum arm! One of the best install videos I have seen - ever. Appreciate the detail and not just skim over it. Also - thanks for not totally ruining your tutorial by playing horrible, discordant, loud, music over your dialog. Come on KC - only have five different tools just to install a simple bracket and adjust the light. Did you consider adding a sixth tool to remove the bezel? Why use one tool when two would also work?

    Thanks for the video👍 this helps me a lot, I’ve been staring at the wiring harness for days, and could not figure out if I’m supposed to wire that to red positive individually to each switch but it looks like you connect both red positive together on the KC harness and then wire those two on to One switch OEM wire? Then the white wire I’m assuming is a positive wire which gets connected individually? Is there a reason both red wires get connected together, is that how KC designed it? Or did they design it so the red wires were individual so the upper and lower lights are separate? If that makes any sense but I will copy what you did this helps a lot thank you!!!!

      I am glad it helped. The two red wires are both just tied into a high amp aux switch lead together and since I cut the white wire after the splice I just connect the single wire for the backlighting to another lower amp aux switch so I can manually control the backlight. Each of the red wires is primary power for each light, which is why you tie them together. there are two white wires tied together and they are just for the backlighting. Let me know if you have any questions and thanks for watching!

      So 2 reds to aux switch, 1 white to low power aux switch then black to ground and that’s it right?

  • @jkh168
    @jkh168 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    When switching between the main and backlights, do you need to turn off one switch first and then turn on the other? Or the internal circuit of the flex 4 will cut power from one power source before engaging the other?

    • @bluox
      @bluox  ปีที่แล้ว

      I never thought about that, I had to go out and check. The lights are so bright that I had a hard time but confirmed that if I have both on they are both on at the same time. If you did not want that then you would have to manually turn off the backlighting. Thanks for watching and great question!

    I have been considering having the Amber backlight come on with the running lights. That way I only use one aux switch.
    How often do you use the amber backlight? Do you use them kinda like a running light?

    • @bluox
      @bluox  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't use them at all. It is illegal to drive on road without the covers and the backlight will melt the black plastic covers (already happened to me once) plus you risk rock damage. I did purchase the clear covers which may not melt but I have not tested this yet. I had considered running them as you suggested if that works but I really do like the look of it with the black covers.

      The Foglight Covers do not Melt.. I opted to use one set of my Offroad flex3s as fog lights mainly for road driving. The lights are off-road rated. They have the backlight but are not those newer street legal dual modes. I did like you and opted for the red rings. I also discovered a clear SAE lense replacement. It changes some of the light dispersion dynamics to be SAE approved. (to be honest, I am not sure they are.. but they say they are on the replacement lense!) I then purchased the yellow fog light light covers for protection and, like I stated, to use as foglights. All I can say is, they are the absolute brightest and best fog lights ever. LOL. Plus, I can just pull the amber cover and use as road lights.

    Great video. Which aux switches (numbers) did you use? I don’t think I’m going to do the backlight and just use main light….

      I used AUX switch 2 for the lights and AUX switch 4 for the backlight. Thanks for watching!

      Why the two switches needed ? Couldn’t you do the backlighting to a wire with marker lights?

    Does the light reflecting off the hood bother you at all while driving?

    • @bluox

    On wiring harness, which Aux switch wire did you use for the white? Or does it even matter!
    Thanks

    • @bluox
      @bluox  ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn't really matter. I used Aux switch 2 (Green/Pink) for the main lights because it is a 40 AMP connection and I used Aux switch 4 (Blue/Pink) because it is a slight draw and that is a 15 AMP circuit but you could use Aux switch 3 (Pink/Orange) as well. Thanks for watching!
