- Historian and broadcaster Rafe Heydel-Mankoo says the English should be proud to celebrate their nation and national identity. He says that English nationalism and the flag of St. George have not been hijacked by the right. The Left hate English nationalism yet they have no problem with Scottish or Welsh nationalism.

I find it strange that terrorist organisations such as the IRA who used the Irish Tricolour as their emblem, yet the Tricolour is not held in such repugnance as is the Cross of Saint George.
