    I have the 100 watt mk2 and the mini and I've owned a 50 watt mk1 and every single one is amazing honestly. I've developed over 40 or so tones and effects on mine with the app, its really fun to do if you're a tone nerd like I am! Highly recommend anything by them and may just have to get the one too!

    I was never a confident guitar player, I never liked it when someone would listen to me or even watch me play. In the back of my head, they think I suck as a guitar player, I should just stop. But I got the mini amp and have been practicing on it. It got me more confident and more time to practice. Plus my dad freaked out that you played ABBA to test the speakers out. Love It Ola and all of your videos help me out a big time. Thank you 3000

    I went out and bought the Katana Air because of this video... Absolutely love it. The wireless pack is insanely convenient. It sounds great, the app is amazing... so many effects to choose from. It took me a little while to figure out how to save my own patches, but I had it on lock the first day without using a manual or youtube.... so it is simple enough for an idiot.
    I really like some of the stock patches... there is one I use for an 80's RR/Hair metal sound, the octave metal sound is great too.
    The patches themselves are totally customizable, and not just the obvious things like amps and effects. Boss allows you to choose your preferred signal chain and cabinet mix, to make sure your sound is exactly what you want.
    My only issues are as follows:
    1. There is no way to connect an external speaker, with 30 watts, the Katana Air could easily push a 1 x 12 or 2 x 12.
    2. There is no way to simultaneously use the headphone to record out, while letting the speaker on the amp play out as a monitor... it could be useful for simple recording setups.
    3. It uses double batteries instead of a rechargeable internal pack. I suppose this was talked about in the video, so it is my fault for not noticing... however, this isn't a deal breaker in any way.. it still sounds great unplugged and rechargeable batteries are cheap.
    Thank you Ola for a great recommendation.

    That's cool. Sounds much bigger than it actually is and the wireless feature is neat. Although I don't know if that's really that useful in a practice amp, since you're gonna sit right next to it anyway. But yeah, I guess it's nice not to get entangled, I like to use wireless mice on my PC even though I sit right next to that too...

      It's easy. Use a cabinet, use overdrive pedals , don't use too much gain. Use mids and go easy on the bass and treble. You'll get there :). The (lead channel)5150 on the katana is great for rhythm. At the end of the day the best way to get good tone is your ears and using the boss Katana software that can only be accessed through your computer.

    • @sacredxgeometry
      @sacredxgeometry 5 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      Getting a killer tone isn't hard. Just screw around on it until you get the kind of sound you like best. I dunno why people are always so insistent on having other people tell them how to use an amp when it's simple.

    • @yetojesse
      @yetojesse 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Got the katana head myself.
      It sounds kind of harsh and shallow by itself, but send the signal to a cab (using the speaker of a Marshall VS100) really improves the overall vibe of the sound.
      Still though, it's quite some tinkering combining the knobs and the sound of your guitar.

      Strange Brew for a tiny digital practice amp???

    • @BBOZ83
      @BBOZ83 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ioannis Tziallas Theres Bose or Klipsch bluetooth speakers that cost almost that much that are smaller and you can't play a guitar wirelessly in it with pre set tones. Or what about TV sound bars that cost that much?

    • @flingar
      @flingar 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Strange Brew Yes, I know, it’s a priority thing, though. I mean, think about it, a practice amp is just that. It can never be more than that (you’ll never gig with it and you won’t record your album with it), so why getting into the price range where you could find good sounding valve or ss amps new (bugera, jet city, Randall etc) or some of the classics in the second hand market? For me it’s a luxury I can’t afford when I have so many other priorities for my home studio so I find it a little bit over the top to spend the 400 on a practice amp. But if you have the money to spend why not?

    • @shawn_bullock
      @shawn_bullock 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Katana 100 is cheaper and does more. Yes. But, I'm totally down for the completely wireless aspect of it so I can go places and just... PLAY. The price tag comes from the wireless ability, and bluetooth speaker capability. And finally, I have a better BT speaker than my Echo Dot. :)

      All you have to do is mod it to have an external cab output, took me about 2 minutes and it makes a decent amp for band practice since it's 30W, makes it more than loud enough for any smaller venue and it has line out so any larger venue would have a pa to run through

      Honestly for playing at low volumes like this is for, a dedicated interface is probably the best solution, whether a solution that uses a computer phone. A Scarlet 2i2 is like 100-150 bucks and Amplitube 4 is 89 euros right now. While it's not wireless, most people aren't moving when they're just practising by themself.
