This game is way ahead of its time, the movement and game mechanics feels like it was a PS2 game.. it even make the XENA game on PS2 look like a PS1 game..
Would have loved sequels to this. I thought Kalabrax was a relatable character. I wouldn't mind being an immortal that's in this jail-like platform on Mount Olympus reading and taking in all books and knowledge. That's basically what I'm doing now but with the severe handicap of mortality and aging. It's funny that I actually remember the name of the villain. I just thought it was a cool villain with a memorable final battle. Yes, this is a great game. Though, as I said in the N64 Talisman Of Fate review, I really wish it was more fan-based (like Talisman). And I wish we got the N64 Xena adventure game to be able to compare and have two separate Xena adventure games (one on PSX and one on N64). This Xena feels like a concept where if Xena (the show) were more like Hercules (more light-hearted and adventurous). Like Xena, the Universal Studios movie (or even more like that Hercules & Xena: Battle For Mt. Olympus animated film, from what I remember). The worst part about the game is that it had to end and no sequels. Lara Croft got five games on the PSX and Xena only gets one. Imagine if they made more, adding on to what this was. I'm glad we got this game and the Evil Dead: Hail To The King game on Playstation. It was a good time to be a Sam Raimi / Rob Tapert / Bruce Campbell (Renaissance Pictures) fan. I think a big pain is that I want to forget the game so I can play it again, but everything in it was so memorable (which is a good thing). For the sequels that were never made, would have been cool to play as other characters (no more Gabrielle kidnappings). Maybe have Gabrielle saving Xena. Have some story progression like the show over multiple games would have been amazing. Maybe have Hercules show up. Do an epic Hercules & Xena game (I think Titus planned that with their games if they had gone all the way with their plans via controller paks that save game characters to transfer over to other games). I just see so much potential but I should be glad they at least had this.
Honestly I've yet to come across a modern game with the high calibur gameplay that this game offers. It was a very pleasant surprise. It deserves a ps5 remake, then it would be perfection.
One of the first games I've ever played, when I was 5 or 6. Just an underrated, perfect, legendary hack and slash. I would love a "level editor" for this game, so we could create our own levels.
You and me both. Last time I played that game I killed them all but couldn't activate the melody since the freaking skeleton harpies made me panic and roll of the cliff.
Awesome review....The best game I've ever played. I only wish she could make a double jump somersault on the air instead of one...and some steady slop jumps on the air right and left to avoid arrows and stuffs AND I WANT A NEW XENA GAME NOW....PS xena game for ps2 sucked all the way...Why there's no more xena games like this? Should be I II III IV V VI at least....Does anyone knows if they will make some new xena games like this one on 2019?

That would have been amazing. We could have come up with all kinds of fun challenges for the chakram.
That's right. I would come up with a level called "Pactolus Strikes Back". The whole level would take place inside his ship.

I remember magazines at the time giving it around a 7-8 out of 10 or so. It's easy to find, and usually less than $10.
