I love my Country,I’ve actually been to this part of town and it’s fascinating how diferent it looks now,the Places are now modernised and it looks so much new then to what it is now, thank you for uploading this,I wish you all the best who see this.❤️
Thanks for sharing this lovely footage. Would it be OK to use some of it in a music video for a song written about Galway? We are from Galway and would love to mix in a few short clips from this to go along with our Galway song
Cars back then had a bit of personality, didn't they? I'm not a car 'guy' tbh but it seems like since some time in the 1980's, every make, every model, more and more they all look the same - such that now, more often than not , I have to look at the badge to identify them. (Course I'm getting older, too!)
Inevitably... Twat. I mean, you can have a debate about "Is there too much immigration?", No problem, but it's comments like this that mean when people say "Paddy's? Mucksavages!!" you kind of can't blame them.
Why are there American flags when a cathedral was opening? Weere they left over from when JFK was here? The car seems to be moving slow by modern standards. Maybe there was a speed limit of 10mph.
It sounds like something's gone wrong... Reminds me of listening to MW radio late at night back in 'the old days' when you'd have Saarlouis fighting with Stuttgart!
Can't find anything wrong with music. Cheerful, but then I absolutely hate fogging tinwhistle tootling in so many Irish videos. Its kind of expected alongside " Tap A Da Maurnin to Ya" Interesting to see so many men in suits, not necessarily new clothes and wearing ties.
I got there 5 years later. I loved Old Galway. M
Thanks so much for this. Priceless
Beautiful...What a great town...still the best in the Country.
Amazing how in 50 years a place is so different and still as if nothing changed
Great video. Really enjoyed it.
The roads!! not a pot hole in sight!..nice post.

The cathedral was ok but I preferred the jail. Walking past those dark high walls at dawn used to terrify me. I loved that !
nice video , galway is great city , it has its problems now and the lockdown as well but hopefully things will improve .
this is amasing to see.if you have anymore old footage like this please post
great video. interesting to see so many tri colours on the houses-something lacking these days. This video could be from when Kennedy visited
Dr 😂
Amazing 58 years ago and it still looks the same!

great
yeah .. great movie, agree the music could be better, but where this this wonderful footage come from .. props to whoever
@imshaneh The Cathedral was opened by Cardinal Cashing of Boston, so it was probably in his honour.
Great video, like going back in time, pity about the music though, does not really do it justice. Something more tradition would have suited better.
class, the cars are so cool..

Aye. Maybe a few Yanks, but they came, spent money AND went home again.
Mohammed was the most popular boys name in Galway in 2022. Could that be true?
Gowls
Amazing, fifty years and it still looks the same. Many of the businesses are still there.

Wonderful lovely place for a chocolate factory.
that is strange to see
they should have used the music from naked gun haha
Flags of the United States and of the Vatican !
Why are there more American flags than Irish flags?
Nice video, but the backing music is absolutely atrocious
