    People who know drummer Steve Smith from Journey probally don't realize he was trained in jazz at Berklee in Boston and is really at his best in the Jazz/Fusion environment. What a solid drummer.

    • @skineyemin4276
      @skineyemin4276 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Well, he was Jean-Luc Ponty's "Enigmatic Ocean" album a few years before he joined Journey. However, I do think most people know this about Smith, and, many people way after the "Simon Phillips", "Terry Bozzio" and "Dennis Chambers" eras have no idea..., even though Simon, Terry and Steve all played within the same era.

      Greatest at what? It's all about taste. There are thousands of really good sax/reed players out there, all over the world. To me, Brecker was ok, although no Wayne Shorter. Yes, the reason why he is so famous is something of a mystery to me (much like with Steve Gadd).

    1曲目のBeirut(ベイルート)は何度聴いても圧巻です。テーマ部分は街中の緊迫した騒乱状態を思わせ、ドラムのシモンズは、さながら爆撃音でしょうか。後半のマイニエリのソロの後ろのブレッカーのシンプルな白玉フレーズは、この曲の主題とも言える箇所で、戦場の悲惨な状況を憂う人々の不安げな姿が目に浮かび、胸に迫るものがあります。

    Very cool to see this video. Never got the chance to see Smith play with this band. the whole band sounds amazing. Very cool to see Stern play with them too and of course D. Jones on bass. Solid. Thanks for posting .. a real treat. The Japanese fans really know music and they love jazz. So this looks to be a large concert event.. really great to see a quality video with excellent sound done of this show.. pretty much timeless. I dig hearing their use of the 80's tech in the music. It's tasteful and not over done.

    Comprei o disco quando saiu com 18 anos, hoje com 51 ainda o oiço como se fosse a primeira vez e fico arrepiado. Tudo grandes musicos. O Sax de Michael Brecker em "Sumo" aos 29:00 é simplesmente orgásmico!!! RIP
