      Coutts have done nothing wrong, Farage didn't have sufficient funds to continue with Coutts, so they offered him a regular nat west account which is not good enough for Farages ego simple as that he is so naffed off he is stirring up all this conspiracy nonsense. This is an absolute non story.

    • @eddewhurst7662
      @eddewhurst7662 ปีที่แล้ว

      On what grounds might that be? Coutts has not revealed why it closed Farage's account, although it has stated that is does not close accounts based solely on the political views of their customers. So most likely this was a commercial decision but we are unlikely to find out.

      Yes they have - Farage has a 30 page document from the bank giving their reasons.
      Its been widely published.
      There's also evidence that the CEO of NatWest gave a false narrative to the BBC.
      Again, well published.

    What is deplorable about Coutts is the fact they LIED about their customer. They smeared him and then LIED about it and still continue to lie. NatWest needs to compensate Nigel with millions, money that will come from the taxpayers. I am shocked that the CEO is paid £5mil of tax payers money. People should be enraged at NatWest's salary, not the BBC.

    When this story broke I was absolutely horrified that a bank would act like this - but then I learnt they had been doing this to hundreds of other people not so famous as Farage and had got away with it. Any bank acting in this manner should lose their banking licence. I am convinced this all goes back to Brexit, they hate Farage for it and will not forgive him. People power is a wonderful thing ! 💪

He wasn’t joking, he was just extremely bitter and sufferingly intolerable. His finances aren’t personally affected by brexit, just that he looks down at other people. Presumably myself as well.
      I am sickened by people who just parrot media talking points (like climate change, lgbtq wokeness, brexit bad, Russia bad, Trump bad, anti-vaxxers etc). These people don’t really respect or love others and are totally up themselves. As long as they get a kick out of telling others what to do. Doesn’t make them a good person. I am

      @vladtheimpaler, I can guarantee you will find that there are unsavoury global characters as their clients. I am from Africa and the rulers here are some of the most odious and corrupt. Most of them are thieves, looting state coffers to live luxurious lives while the people suffer and guess what, they stash this stolen money in banks like coutts and this lying bank accepts that money without question. I am also certain that many gulf Arab rulers who are incredibly wealthy have accounts at coutts. We all know how they treat migrant workers who build their infrastructure in the searing unbearable heat. But coutts won't shut their accounts will they. Many of these same rulers I have just mentioned hold the same views that the bank accuses nigel farage of having, so why are they singling him out..... But they have picked on the wrong guy, he is fearless and tenacious. He always insisted right from the get go that their decision was political and not a commercial one. I believed him right from the beginning. I have a deep mistrust of British banks and it is historical too.

    As the British taxpayer is a major shareholder in the parent company of Coutt's Bank, Nat West, the government on the behalf of British taxpayers, should take a far stronger line. There should be an extraordinary general meeting at the first opportunity for the Nat West CEO to explain her actions and, if they are found to be unsatisfactory, she should go. His money is in his banned account. Technically, his money now belongs not to him, but to the bank. At least for now. The cornerstone and slogan of modern democracy and capitalism: PRIVATE PROPERTY IS ̶I̶N̶VIOLABLE 🙃 Well, I am sure the issue will be resolved soon and his money will be returned to him. Just because he's too conspicuous a figure. It is much more difficult for simpler people to defend their rights.

    There was a rather strange (I thought) debate last night on Newsnight, between Nigel and a financial expert. She tried to make light of Nigel’s complaints and suggested he had initiated the problem. She was logical, persuasive, quizzical and seemed almost to convince Nigel that he had no point to make. A very skilled spokesperson.
    That was before the climbdown by the bank.

    It is never ‘a step towards’ with regard to totalising politics it is ‘another snitch taken by…’ as Albert Camus showed as all way back in the ‘60s the bacillus is always there - it is never not there. The job of us - our job - is to remain healthy which means feeding upon the things the disease wishes to own for itself which are several and four main things and the first of which is never never never to lose one’s lusty voice and if challenged to beetle up to the roof top and cry one’s lungs hoarse…

    Why should my values align with the values of a bank? Banks - profit driven all about making loads of money; huge bonuses for the bosses - poor pay for the front line staff; everyone has to bank on line which transfers the time taken and the risk to the customer and away from the bank so they can make more money; then their system crash for weeks on end RBS/Nat West, TSB; then they shut local branches; take insane risks to make even more money and then lose £bn and then the public have to bail them out; slow to put up interest rates to make even more profits; lend or borrow to/from dodgy busineeses or countries. I suspect almost nobody has values what align with this. Maybe we should all be de-banked.
