The fun part of the movie is it came out a few years after the debut of the WNBA so we know as an audience that there will eventually be a women’s league but Monica is navigating her career without that option. Which is why she insists she will play in the NBA
I’m a new subscriber and I’m bossed with you alls reviews! I also love how you guys are reviewing black movies as well. I would love to see a review from Secret Life of Bees! It’s a great, deep, and moving movie Nd story. But yeahh yall got me hookked. Its so interesting hearing other peoples opinions on movies.
It's Beautiful to see you both have this appreciation for these Black films and actors that I've loved for over 30 years. Actors like Sanaa Lathan and Omar Epps have always been top tier actors in the industry but they never got the high profile roles in mainstream media. Love & Basketball is one of my favorite all time films along with The Best Man and Love Jones. Not only Black excellence but just good films. Please check out Love Jones in the future.
To really drive home this movie’s impact, Sanaa Lathan went to a WNBA game last season and when they showed her on the Jumbotron, everyone went crazy, it was like she was the Queen. It’s because a lot of girls cite this movie as why they wanted to be a hooper and a lot of the girls in the league grew up and remember this as their first motivation
Love that you are going through all our classics and movies we grew up on. It's so interesting seeing people who are new to the genre watching it, and getting to watch them all over again with you guys. Love seeing Black cinema reaching more people. Also her name is pronounced “Sa-nah Lay-thin”.
Watching you guys react to this made me actually realize how well this movie was shot. Y’all are my favorite duo. Also her name is pronounced (Sa-nah Lay-than)
I’ve always silently watched this channel. Because I love the vibes of the reactions BUT it’s been great seeing y’all get into movies that were classics for me growing up !!!
I absolutely loved this reaction! Soul Food The Wood Boomerang The Temptations The Jackson Family biopic. The Five Heartbeats Side note: Sanaa Lathan in a recent interview said the ending scene of her in the WNBA was their first ever game as the WNBA in real life.
I can't believe you've missed out on Love and Basketball all these years, so happy you both loved it. One of my faves of all time and such a great reaction, thank you!
1. Harlem Nights -Eddie Murphy 2. Bait-Jamie Foxx 3. American Gangster Denzel Washington 4. Four Brothers- Mark walberg 5. Ransom- Mel Gibson 6. Kiss the Girls- Morgan Freeman 7. Money Talks- Chris Tucker 8. Fallen-Denzel Washington 9. nothing to Lose -Martin Lawrence 10.The Wood -Taye Diggs ,Omar Epps ,Sanaa Lathan
Sanaa Lathan's facial scar is real. It's not a prosthetic or makeup. She had it before filming, and they decided to included it into the movie with a story of how her character got the scar.
Thank you so much for reacting to this! So glad you enjoyed it. It was an absolute staple of my childhood and is still a comfort movie for sure. It's crazy to look back and realize how many incredible actors are in this one movie. We were so spoiled. 😆
This is my favorite movie of ALL TIME 🙌🏾 to see you guys watch and be into a black classic was top tier….especially @54:25 so into it 😂👏🏾❤️ love it. 1:04:28 (Suh-nye Lay-thin) Sanaa Lathan
One thing I wish people would talk about more is that this was Gina Prince-Bythewood’s first time writing and directing a feature film. I mean … 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Great REVIEW!!! Please, please, please do Love Jones next!!! And the WOOD!!!! And Jaby thank you for appreciating the talent of Sanaa...she doesn't get talked about enough. You guys should also do Out of Time..it's a suspense drama with her, Denzel Washington and Eva Mendez is in it. Great film too!
I love the soundtrack to this movie so much. They picked perfect songs for the scenes, especially "Fool of Me" when they're playing each other at the end. ETA: the song during the love making scene is Maxwell's version of Kate Bush's "This Woman's Work". He performed it during his live "MTV Unplugged" performance (back when they still played music, LOL). He did AMAZING job with it.
I love this movie and I'm so happy you guys loved it too, I remember bawling my eyes out on my way home from the theater after watching this movie because it was so good on so many levels and hearing Jaby's appreciation for the technical aspects off the film was greatly appreciated❤
Really love the perspectives and details u guys put into these movies and pay attention to, if y’all haven’t seen it yet I would highly recommend Remember The Titans
If you guys like young Omar Epps, you’ve got to watch Juice. He did that movie prior to The Program and Major League II. You’ll also come away impressed by how great Tupac is as an actor
This movie is what inspired me to play basketball as a little girl. Me and my Dad's favorite player was Magic Johnson and I wore the number 32 all the way through the end of my college career. So happy you guys enjoyed my all time favorite movie.
1:04:27 Her name is pronounced "suh-NAH LAYTH-en". Watching your movie reactions is really making me appreciate how amazing of an actress Sanaa is. I didn't recognize her range before. She really is a treasure.
Thanks. I love that they love Sanaa, but when they pronounced her name, it was like nails on a chalk board. I came to the comments in part to spell her names phonetically, but you beat me to it! I hope they continue watching her filmography. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Per celebrities like Sanaa Lathan who are so talented but don't get recognized for their craft, we call them "Black Famous" lol like to every Black family they are a household name and would be recognized immediately but they can largely exist in the rest of the world without anyone else ever knowing who they are - see also former Black famous celebs like: Frankie Beverly, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and even Keke Palmer!
Imho this is one of the best movies ever made. This, The Wood, Mo’ Betta Blues, School Daze and Crooklyn (and some others) will forever be in my top20 movies of all time. The music selections alone make them permanent top20s.

The fun part of the movie is it came out a few years after the debut of the WNBA so we know as an audience that there will eventually be a women’s league but Monica is navigating her career without that option. Which is why she insists she will play in the NBA
You two boys are great dissceting and elaborating and HILARIOUS. With a touch of my favourite films. Chefs kiss. ❤❤❤❤😂😂😂 encore, please ...
the best duo ❤️
- Jason’s Lyric
- The Help
- Good Deeds
- For colored girls

I’m a new subscriber and I’m bossed with you alls reviews! I also love how you guys are reviewing black movies as well. I would love to see a review from Secret Life of Bees! It’s a great, deep, and moving movie Nd story. But yeahh yall got me hookked. Its so interesting hearing other peoples opinions on movies.
Can you guys please react to "The Best Man Holiday"?🙏🏼
Yessir❤
Probably around December.
@@joshuacampbell7493Best Man Holiday came out in November
Agreed 💯
Most definitely “The Best Man Holiday” ❤
Also her name is pronounced
(Sa-nah Lay-than)
I’ve always silently watched this channel. Because I love the vibes of the reactions BUT it’s been great seeing y’all get into movies that were classics for me growing up !!!
My two favs on this channel! And PLEASE watch

Side note: Sanaa Lathan in a recent interview said the ending scene of her in the WNBA was their first ever game as the WNBA in real life.

Fantastic list recommendation!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Sanaa Lathan's facial scar is real. It's not a prosthetic or makeup. She had it before filming, and they decided to included it into the movie with a story of how her character got the scar.
1:06:28 Sanaa wasn't in Why Did I Get Married lol. She was in The Family that Preys and the Best Man though
LOL YUP, I think they meant Family that Preys and got confused because they first saw Lathan in the Tyler Perry-verse
Thank you so much for reacting to this! So glad you enjoyed it. It was an absolute staple of my childhood and is still a comfort movie for sure. It's crazy to look back and realize how many incredible actors are in this one movie. We were so spoiled. 😆
You guys have to watch "Out of Time" with Sanaa Lathan and Denzel Washington. It's a nail biter. You won't be disappointed! 😃
Dare I say her most underrated film
YES!!
@@keannahmooreyes
I concur
This is my favorite movie of ALL TIME 🙌🏾 to see you guys watch and be into a black classic was top tier….especially @54:25 so into it 😂👏🏾❤️ love it. 1:04:28 (Suh-nye Lay-thin) Sanaa Lathan
Thank you guys for watching these black classics, it's kinda rare to see from the big reaction channels
One of my fav movies. Fun fact Omar Epps & Sanaa Lathan dated in real life. Both great actors 👏🏾 👏🏾Great reaction as usual.
They dated during the filming of this movie
One thing I wish people would talk about more is that this was Gina Prince-Bythewood’s first time writing and directing a feature film. I mean … 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Y'all know Sanaa Lathan was Blade's mom right? She was also the lead in Alien VS Predator.
She was also in Disappearing Acts. So she was Wesley' mom and his girlfriend! The gag is she's possibly old enough to be his daughter 😭
Love Jones
Waiting to exhale
The five heartbeats
EVES BAYOU! EVES BAYOU PLEASE!
I promise you you will NOT be disappointed!
“You would be pretty if you did something with your hair” is absolutely wild to say to your daughter.
I love yalls channel ngl it's so comforting like watching a movie with friends ❤😂 keep them coming
You guys should check out the movie called The Last Holiday with Queen Latifah
Yes Last Holiday and bringing down the house
I love the soundtrack to this movie so much. They picked perfect songs for the scenes, especially "Fool of Me" when they're playing each other at the end. ETA: the song during the love making scene is Maxwell's version of Kate Bush's "This Woman's Work". He performed it during his live "MTV Unplugged" performance (back when they still played music, LOL). He did AMAZING job with it.
They couldn’t show it because it was a sex scene, but also Maxwell‘s a woman’s work! Best soundtrack! 😂
True
@@AuntieL_ATLyep
@@AuntieL_ATL Yep, I added that to my comment, I hadn't gotten to their commentary about the music yet. I tend to post as I go along, LOL.
OMG yess this soundtrack 😍😍😍
Omg love and basketball?? this is my favorite channel right now 😭
For the list: Remember the Titans & The Great Debaters
Yes they need to watch those movies . I love Remember the Titans!
Yes, “Remember the Titans”!
Ooo good choices!
You guys are so great to rewatch these great movies with. ❤
Me dying at the fact neither one recognised miss flight attendant is pre op Tyra Banks 😂😂😂😂
we did. we just didn't say her name out loud. that was the reason for my reaction.
@ Ah fair.
I love this movie and I'm so happy you guys loved it too, I remember bawling my eyes out on my way home from the theater after watching this movie because it was so good on so many levels and hearing Jaby's appreciation for the technical aspects off the film was greatly appreciated❤
i just love this duo, appreciate yall giving us these reactions and the discussions after. i’m surprised yall didn’t recognize more actors
📠 Omar Epps's role in higher learning was originally written for Tupac. He would have killed that
Sanaa's name is pronounced more like suh-nye lay-than. Her dad is Stan Lathan, a long celebrated director/producer. She grew up in the industry.
It’s not pronounced like Suh-nye. It’s pronounced like Suh-nah
@@gigiravenRight!
Omar Epps and Sanaa Lathan are both in The Wood. They would be a good movie to follow up with, love the reaction guys 💕
This movie is what inspired me to play basketball as a little girl. Me and my Dad's favorite player was Magic Johnson and I wore the number 32 all the way through the end of my college career. So happy you guys enjoyed my all time favorite movie.
"He seems stable" 😂😂💀
What did he mean by that
1:04:27 Her name is pronounced "suh-NAH LAYTH-en". Watching your movie reactions is really making me appreciate how amazing of an actress Sanaa is. I didn't recognize her range before. She really is a treasure.
Lol thank you for this😭
Thanks. I love that they love Sanaa, but when they pronounced her name, it was like nails on a chalk board. I came to the comments in part to spell her names phonetically, but you beat me to it! I hope they continue watching her filmography. 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
One of my fav movies ❤️…. The Woods, Best Man Holiday, This Christmas, & Just Wright!
