8 and a half years since you uploaded this video and I still remember seeing it for the first time - because it convinced me this was something I wanted to get into. Or at least give it a go anyway. The only Korg equipment I had previously used was a pair of the original Kaoss Pads that I used in my mixes. I’ve DJ’d since I was a kid and bought a pair of 1210’s about 19 years ago. However, even though I still do the odd bit of scratching, I very rarely mix anymore - you could argue that this video alone is entirely responsible for me making the switch from mixing vinyl and getting into production. With a “launchpad” phase somewhere in between !! I imagine that I would have probably gone this way eventually - it seems a natural progression from DJ’ing with other people’s music to wanting to create your own. And especially these days with how easy it is to build a bedroom studio and how accessible really good equipment is without having to take out a 2nd mortgage to pay for it. Anyways, I doubt you’ll see this considering how old this upload is - but after seeing this video in my search results, I just thought I would mention how big a part this video played in shaping my musical journey 😉 Peace ✌️
@NoR3m0rs3 On windows7 right click the volume icon in the system tray near the time/date. Select "recording devices". Right click on "Line In", select properties. Look for a check box labelled "Monitoring" and check it. I found it in a tab labelled "custom". That should fix the delay by monitoring the line-in for sound until it gets something and then immediately outputting it to the speakers. Turns your sound card into an amp.
Sick man, thanks. I have the little yellow Kaossilator and sold my Mini-KP for a KP3. Now I'm thinking about "upgrading" my Kaossilator to this. Thanks for the great live performance.
@TheCakeIsALie96 - If it required no talent then we would all be the next daft punk. To compose music takes alot of work. To compose good music takes alot of work and SKILL. Like anything else, practice, practice, practice. Thank you to KORG for making practice so much fun. I hate it when people say making electronic music takes no skill. Electronic and Dance music are actually more complex than most Rock. It's comparable to Jazz in its complexity levels. Which is very complex.
Korg should hire this dude and put his stuff in company DVDs. This is inspirational. Makes me want to go out and buy one. Dunno if I can reach this level though..
I will admit an inherent bias I harbor, which this video exposed, in my thinking. I had always considered devices such as these as "cheeseboxes", but you have made real music with it, so I guess it's essentially a new instrument (to me anyways). I still have no idea how you "play" it, but you are obviously performing (or manipulating) a piece in real time, so salute! Thanks for helping me expose and rethink my prejudice.
Gonna sound strange but as an old gamer who had a C64 and Amiga this takes me right back...very reminiscent of the amiga mod and C64 sid scenes...keep up the awesome work!
@gobs33 Have fun! Theoretically you can sync the clock to Ableton with MIDI, yes. Take a look at some of my other videos where I sync it to other synths' clocks.
@Dracopol The gate arp of the pro is my favorite part of this machine! Sliding higher breaks the notes into short spaced intervals, and sliding lower makes a longer space between notes which makes it sound choppy. I move it up and down to create different patterns of long/short spacing, and I found that if I move it in time to the beat it makes a cool sounding pattern!
Hey man!! This is top quality! I've had my pad for almost a year but never sat down to really get to know it yet! are these sounds custom or are they the sound readily available? Inspirational Tune! I wanna rock my pad just like this someday!!!
@Dracopol I never had the original Kaossilator so I can't really compare, but I gotta say the slider is really awesome. It's not hard to use once you get used to it. It may not have preset patterns but you can make a lot of different rhythms with it. I love the Electribe's gate arp so this is a dream come true for me to have it on the KPro.
I just got my Kaossilator Pro and can't put it down. Great song......not the style I want to dip in myself but still great work and a great song, thanks for this!!!
@StarmanDeluxe2001 I dunno, man! It's hard enough to keep the beat "by hand", as the audio-based recording of the loop requires. It's even harder to make a consistent beat pattern, unlike the 50 pre-set patterns and the handy cardboard chart provided with the regular (small) Kaossilator. Unless maybe you can program some with the software add-ons.
@MysticalMuffinDude Actually it's just going from the RCA output to my computer's stereo line in. Luckily I have an audio interface now so it should get even clearer :)
Well, yes and no. I have done similar things, for example the sampling in my other video "Astromance" uses a slowed down sample. The limitations are you can't really add/subtract from the sample except for erasing parts of the loop and it only loops linearly. Hope this helps.
@detroitsloth Well, I am actually classically trained and played keyboard in jazz bands as well as soloed jazz for some public venues, so just because I make electronic music, try not to judge my understanding of music theory. Thanks and have a good day. PS I am pretty sure the chord patch used in this song has 9th chords
You should look into a dedicated sampler/looper like the Kaoss Pad 3 if you need some more serious sampling functionality. Sampling on the KoPro is more like an add-on/bonus
Awesome. I bought the regular Kaossilator and tried a few videos. I should have saved more of my beans and bought the Kaossilator Pro. I don't understand how Gate Arpeggiator works on this model. What does the slide control do with the Gate Arp, and why do you jiggle it?
good work man, enjoyed it- also since i havent looked into it yet i dont understand how u made the entire song, but the improv etc, how did u record the whole lot into a song, external recording equipment or just use the editor software and load loops into a DAW and create from there? I actually havent downloaded the editor yet coz for some reason firewall in my apt block or something wont so i dunno what the editor is even like? only have Pro for 2 weeks.
@catzblu999 Everything done inside that little black box. No flash cards were harmed in the production of this film. If you want to hear this thing do sampling check out my latest video :)

This deserves to be recognized in the music world.
4 years later and this still amazes me. Good job, dude!
+Samuel Young Same here dude...

This was a great song, man. Keep it up! And thanks for sharing your fruits of labor with the rest of us.

I used to have loads of fun with software oscillators , this vid makes me miss it.
Korg should hire this dude and put his stuff in company DVDs.

10 years later and this device is still so usefull
Now this is what I call a 21st Century instrument. Revolutionary in every sense, easy to use, suitable for live performance.
if there was a definition for uber cool amazing super awesomeness, this would surely be shown beside it. its just mind blowing amazing!!!!!
What a beautiful creation from the ko3 pro! Mine should be here any day , and I purchased the plus edition, cannot wait!
holy crap, your finger dancing to the melody is awesome. i think i'm gonna get one of these now.
which means, it makes it easy for people to get down their ideas easier, allowing more people to make varieties of song styles, and sounds. =D
very cool stuff man i really enjoy this...im gonna pick one of these up this weekend hopefully
Definitely one of the best Kaossilator Pro vids I've seen on TH-cam
Awesome..!
Wahnsinn - der Sound kann immer wieder überraschen.
Very nicely done, great tune!
Awesome demo. I've got one of these but I haven't come close to creating anything this rich on it yet! Well done.
Just got mine a week ago...this is friggin' AWESOME!!!!!!!! Motivates me even more.
Very inspirational man.. U put some soul in that machine..
Epic music, Im getting one of these next month !!
Gonna sound strange but as an old gamer who had a C64 and Amiga this takes me right back...very reminiscent of the amiga mod and C64 sid scenes...keep up the awesome work!

Great eargasmic mix ❤❤
very nice, got chills at 1:25, Kudos.

@ChunkieTehMaster I believe it's minor blues. Thanks and rock on!
Great work! Can't imagine if you had a KP3 to go with it
Amazing. Just amazing.

Oh My God ... this is amazing.

Badass, this could have been the soundtrack for Tron 2011.
Very nice :) Reminds me of Daft Punk's sounds. Keep it up!

Great song dude! I want to get a Kaossilator Pro sooo bad!!

nice work on this. Very Daft Punk sounding.
I had a decision between choosing between a SH 101 and a KP. I' choosing the KP thanks to you.
I have one, I am learning to play it live
@kylesnyder1235 you can record external audio with it. for example a guitar, or your voice.
wow this was truly amazing...i enjoyed your video

@eldiepon1 Thanks so much! I'm still trying to top this one!!

This is the most 2010 thing I’ve see
@bmmb181763 I'm having a hard time visualizing that one, but it sounds like it's possible since they both have midi in and out
My Jeans Creamith OVER!
Excelente!
@7seidl7 Thanks I really appreciate that!
I GOTTA GET ME ONE OF THOSE!
@catzblu999 Everything done inside that little black box. No flash cards were harmed in the production of this film. If you want to hear this thing do sampling check out my latest video :)
TQ very much
@ChunkieTehMaster Funnily enough, I didn't even know who Deadmau5 was when I made this XD. But I recently started enjoying his beats a lot!
@NoR3m0rs3 pick up an audio interface (external sound card) or get an internal one and that should fix your latency and quality issues :)
