- Heading up to Nakusp BC, Greg camps out and hunts for mushrooms with @CanadianFunGuy (AKA Mushroom Joe) and his band or merry foragers. Greg also catches a rainbow trout and cooks it under the fire.
Greg is a self-taught survivalist from Canal Flats, British Colombia, who, since he was a boy, has read nearly every book on the topic. When he is not out in the wilderness, he is a professional dry-waller. He started his first bow drill fire when he was thirteen and spent the next forty years learning bushcraft and studying plants and edibles. He has even developed some of his own survival techniques and is a skilled hunter with both a bow and a slingshot.

We do keep a tight leash on the bear population though - do visit sometime, you'll feel right at home in the Norwegian rain forest! Even Bear Grylls gave up surviving a stormy autumn night here. Wonderful company and content, you warm my heart with your adventures I would love to come camping and adventure with you, it has been too long. I did the homeless life for two years rode the trains and so on, I miss it and am toying with the idea of hitting the road and finishing my days in that way.I figure I would be less of a burden to love ones when I deteriorate LOL. I just may do it and share the songs God has put in me as I travel about camping time will tell we will see. Love and blessings

Where I live in northern Michigan, almost everyone is a mushroom person. We do it as tradition to go with our venison and fish. We love Joe, your mushroom guy, but in truth, we love Fin more. And I think you are right; he's the most famous dog in the world, at least to woods people. You and Joe are practically as handsome as Fin, but in the end, Fin wears the crown! Much love. Stay safe. Kiss that dog for me.

Years ago my brother and I did a circular camping trip around BC. We caught a big trout at Maligne Lake and wax told a great way to cook it. Wrap the fish in wet newspaper quite thickly, then wrap it all in tin foil. throw it on the coals for a bit and flip it after a few minutes. when cooked and you open the tin foil the fish skin sticks to the newspaper and reveals the insides for all to eat..

I wish we had the variety of mushrooms that you do. Here we get morels for 2-3 weeks and then that’s it til the next year. Every now and then on wet years you can find some oysters in the fall
