      Yeah she's smiling because the crowd were singing along. When you talked about how old they were here I couldn't help but laugh, Pau wrote this incredible song when she was 13.

      This is a really nice side of Paulina, if you want to hear the best example of this side of her watch her playing on their old out of tune piano at home and singing Creep by Radiohead, if it doesn’t move you to tears I would be extremely surprised!

  • @roywall8169

    She is smiling, because she can hear the audience singing along. It must be quite a rush to have people sing your songs back to you.

    • @GlassMoonGaming
      @GlassMoonGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      I can't say anything personally about having an audience sing my own song back (I've only been in cover bands), but yes, it's amazing when you have an interactive audience. Just changes the whole atmosphere! Must be crazy at her age to hear an audience sing her own song for sure!

    Easiest explanation of how a 13-year-old Pau can write such a devastating song about addiction is that Pau is awesome.

  • @roywall8169
    @roywall8169 2 ปีที่แล้ว +24

    To the best of my recollection, this was last played live at the Whisky in 2020. I may be wrong, it wouldn’t be the first time. As to others writing for the band, that is not the case. The girls went from covering legacy bands straight to writing and performing their own music.

    Pau wrote this at 13 years old. Its about addiction.

    The Warning has never had anyone write their songs, other than the covers they have done all songs are written by the three sisters. Paulina is the one that usually comes up with the beginnings of a song, a basic melody or chord progression and a theme for the lyrics. She has before Mayday written songs that were inspired by things she has read in books, movies or the newspaper (which was the inspiration for this song, Black Holes, where she read about a person and who addiction ruined their life and the life of the people around them). She had written some songs from Mayday that were quite personal to her. She then takes her ideas for songs to Dany and Ale who then work on the lyrics and the rest of the music with Pau.

  • @RandyTWA

    No way, no how a 13 year old should be able to tap into the utter despair of the throws of addiction!
    But Paulina was no ordinary 13 year old.

    Pau wrote this song when she was about 13 years old and she is smiling because the crowd are singing along with her .This song is about either drug or alcohol addiction .I've seen one or two comments from the past suggesting that it was about a family friend which ended tragically and that's what inspired Pau to write it , but not confirmed .

    I cannot get through this song…this performance…without emotion hitting hard. It’s uncanny really that there isn’t a single song in their catalog that I would choose not to listen to. There is nothing I have tired of hearing. Then…there are the live versions…and their performances just take the level of incredible to another level.

      Definitely plan on it. This one was kind of last minute since the one I wanted to post this week ended up in TH-cam jail for the time being. Even TH-cam tech support doesn't know why it's blocked still. LOL

    • @Divedown_25
      @Divedown_25 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@GlassMoonGaming TH-cam blocking is a mystery. All TW’s songs before Lava are their own and no blocking should happen but there are unwanted “middlemen” who are interfering and report songs they have nothing to do for blocking. I don’t get what they try to get out if it, it’s like holding a song hostage and asking for a ransom

    • @GlassMoonGaming
      @GlassMoonGaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yep, it's definitely not TH-cam, it's UMG who blocked it. Standard on blocking is after a dispute, it stays blocked for 48 hours and then is unblocked until it's settled. In this case, it never became unblocked and even TH-cam says they are stumped as to why and are "looking into it". I don't even care about making money from them or anything; not being able to monetize it is fine and understandable. Like you said, it's the auto blocking and such that's just annoying while they hold everything hostage.

    They began making covers in their basement, The Warning Cave, and uploaded the videos to TH-cam for their relatives, then the Enter Sandman cover went viral and has a lot of attention, even a visit to Ellen´s Show, this was in 2015, at 15, 13 and 10 years old. Later they began to write their own songs and experimenting with different styles and made the EP "Escape the Mind". Then made their first album "XXI Century Blood" in 2017, Black Holes is the 5th song of the album and was written by Pau at 13 yo. In 2018 they released their 2nd album "Queen of the Murder Scene", Pau´s Emo phase, in her own words. By 2019 they has almost all the songs for a new album but the pandemic and later negotiations with Lava Records put a breack to record it. At last in October 2020 they went three months to New Jersey with David Bendeth and record 12 songs, the first 6 was released during 2021 in a EP "Mayday" and in 2022 released the 7th song "Money" first played opening to Foo Fighters 03/15/22 in Foro Sol, Mexico City in front +50,000 people. In April they began the "Mayday Tour" and go to visit about 25 cities in the States and Canada, and later this year they go on tour with Halestorm and The Pretty Reckless. They have more than 45 original songs and not a single one is bad or filler. The sky is the limit for this talented ladies. Good reaction.

    Thank you for another great reaction. Some of the other The Warning fans may correct me, but I believe the last time they played this song live was at the Whiskey A Go Go back in 2019. I think that this song may unfortunately be played less often, since it was part of their first album and may now want to promote more the stuff from their third album. They have 40-some songs now on their catalog...and counting. So, Black Holes may unfortunately be played less often. They are amazing at writing Power ballads/Ballads. Hopefully, there is one such song on the balance of their new album (2nd part of Mayday -- 5 songs left to be released, I believe). Anyways, Black Holes is clearly in my top 3 songs from The Warning and will remain for a long time. It conveys so much emotions and power at once. Once you also understand that it is about struggling with addiction, but that it was written at such a young age (Pau was 13 y.o. when she wrote this), you understand the genius and talent those young ladies have. Keep them coming!

    • @robertkrawitz8237

      It also needs a piano to be played at all. For Survive they have an alternate opening with guitar and bass, but that wouldn't work for Black Holes (or likely The End).

    This short video gives a little information on their writing process. They have occasionally worked with someone on parts of a song while writing but they have never had anyone completely write a song for them and the list of what they asked for help on is short. The only one that definitely comes to mind is Narcisista when they asked their mom to check out the grammar.

    They write and arrange all of their songs themselves. Pau wrote this when she was 13 years old. I hope you get to see them sometime soon. I saw them for my 2nd time in Berkeley last week (1st time was January 16th, 2020 at The Whisky a Go-Go in Hollywood, California). Great reaction- The Warning started doing covers but moved into writing their own music. They do not use song written by others. It was either famous covers (up until 2017) or their own music (from 2017 forward). Pau is smiling in this performance because the audience is singing along with her. She is trying to stay serious but smiles because she hears the crowd singing with her. This is Pau's baby. She wrote this when she was 13 years old about addiction. They have not played this in recent years but when they did Paulina always steps away from the drums and plays the keyboards.

      Don’t be surprised if they start recording the occasional song written by someone else. Not for lack of creativity, but just because another successful artist wrote a song specifically with them in mind as the performers. We already know that they have two songs on the new album co-written with David Bendeth. And Lzzy Hale said they had a writing session together. Also, they’ve specifically said being on a label gives them the opportunity to write songs for other artists, which they seem open to as well. All this being said, I wouldn’t be surprised if they record a song down the road fully written by someone else for them. I don’t think it would ever turn into a regular thing though. More of an oddity on one or two albums throughout the years.

    WITH AFFECTION I PASS ON TO YOU SEVERAL IMPORTANT POINTS OF THIS EXCELLENT SONG. THE PIECE DESCRIBES THE SURRENDER OF AN ADDICT TO THE CLUTCHES OF DRUGS. IT IS OBVIOUSLY A CRUDE BUT REAL TOPIC THAT EXISTS IN THE WORLD, THE IMPLAUSIBLE THING IS THAT IT WAS CREATED BY PAULINA WHEN SHE WAS 13. WHEN SHE SMILES AT THE BEGINNING IT WASN'T BECAUSE OF THE MESSAGE OF THE SONG, IT WAS BECAUSE THE AUDIENCE KNEW THE LYRICS AND WERE CHANTING IT, HOPEFULLY THIS INFORMATION WILL HELP YOU, THIS SONG HAS BROKEN MANY WHO IDENTIFY WITH THE MESSAGE. LONG LIVE THE WARNING!!!👍🤟⚡💯💯💯🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽

      Fun fact, like Pau says: I see a lot of reactions for this song and some people thinks talk about drugs, other alcohol and even relationships, I think depends the background and personal experiencies of the people they feel it in different ways. It is the magic of a good song, people listen it and make it their own.

    They aren't performing this song on their current Mayday Tour. They aren't using keyboards with their current lineup of songs. Maybe it's logistical, having to arrange for extra equipment. I don't know. But I think the main reason is that they have a contractual obligation to promote their most recent work from the Mayday EP and their current single Money that is from the same session, but it's part of the other six songs they recorded in the studio with David Bendeth. When they perform a full set it is usually around an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes. When they open for another band usually they only get 30 minutes. I think one show I've seen on TH-cam they got 40 minutes. Their songs are usually between three and a half to four and half minutes in length. They have around 40 songs, now, I think. So, obviously they can only cover their Mayday session stuff for the shorter shows adding in crowd favorites like Narcisista, Dust to Dust, and Enter Sandman. For their full sets they are doing a lot of stuff from the Queen of the Murder Scene album and Survive from the XXI Century Blood Album. Dany has been doing When I'm Alone, one of her songs that, like Black Holes and Survive, is from their XXI Century Blood album. That song has has a guitar and vocal intro before the other two come in with their instruments and backing vocal support, but no keyboard required. I think a couple of the songs they are performing during their tour have keyboards on the studio version but they've rearranged them to have guitar instead.

    One drummer did try adding a light drum part; I wasn't too enthusiastic about it. Ale effectively provides the percussion with her bass, and of course the piano is a somewhat percussive instrument itself. I suppose they could use a track for the piano, but the piano is such a fundamental part of the song that using a track (even though they would surely record it themselves, as they do every other track) would not feel right. She did a solo piano recital for Pau Day about a year ago, where this was the first song she played: th-cam.com/video/FSDRCFQ5VEE/w-d-xo.html. She's always viewed as a very aggressive drummer, and this recital shows a very different side of her.
    I hope that at some point when they're not specifically trying to promote newer music that they add more ov the older songs as well. This song really exhibits their versatility; they have skills that go well beyond hard rock. As others have commented, it really is unfathomable how a 13 year old with no personal experience could write such a song. The other rumor about it is that Pau read about addiction in the local newspaper, and that motivated the song. It could of course be both, a family friend and her reading.
    I don't believe anyone ever wrote music for them. They went straight from their early covers to writing their own. I believe it was Ale's teacher Pablo Gonzalez of Los Klaxons who first challenged them to start writing songs, and they jumped right in.
