    For some reason if I don't edit a video straight away I find that very difficult to work on it after some time. I still have a lot of interesting footage from south of Russia, Georgia, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Macau, and Cambodia. I'll do these videos before this year ends, and also show you a few more countries I'm about to visit this year (the Philippines soon!) ❤

    Thank you Niki for all you share. I use videos like this to help with my 11 year old in our homeschool. This shows him a point of view that is interesting to him and he has developed a true love for the ways of life in other Countries. This is information and seeing places in a way he can't learn and see from 'school' videos or text books. So thank you for helping me and my kiddo to learn culture all the way to America!!

    So interesting to see the video! Welcome to China~
    At 7 min in this video, like your friend said, I saw some related videos on the bilibili website, we also privately say about restrictions on freedom of talk in offline social. Some time we also share our thoughts on politics, economy, culture, religion in chinese website. Some specific sensitive topics will be restricted, maybe it lead to people lost the right to know the truth of things. But sometimes things are not simple and require a lot of information to judge, most of the time for ordinary people is spent on specific things in life, so we don't have enough time and relevant professional knowledge to support our credible standpoint. so maybe, discussions of some issues can become confusing.
    I believe we all want peace, have great sympathy for all those who suffered in the riots.

      @@louiswu6300 What I was getting at is life expectancy tells us very little. I believe in the aggregate, any person who emigrates to the US will live longer than in their native country. It sort of makes sense. Age is related to genetics. If you emigrate to the US that means you've got money or will be employed in the US, so you'll have good housing, food, and medical care along with good genes from the old country.

    Chongqing is not China's largest city. So called Chinese cities are really geographical subdivisions within a province. Chongqing was carved out of Szechuan province a few decades ago to speed up development of China's interior, encompassing 80000 km^2, that is roughly the same size as Austria. Out of the 30+ million people living there I would guess that the buildup area of Chongqing holds no more than 10 million people, probably a lot less as this is one of the lesser developed areas in China, and the rest of the population being rural. Shanghai is at least 3 times larger.

      my best bet is they were probably americans until america turned against them to a point where they don't want to refer to themselves as "americans" anymore. it's no surprise that a lot of chinese-americans share this sentiment in recent days due to the backlash they get for the pandemic. the russian guy sounds awfully american so id assume he also got pretty fed up with the constant demonization of his people with the recent war in ukraine.

      Taiwan and Hong Kong have the same culture as China. So as far as the Chinese culture is concerned, you have seen it. The standard of living is higher in both Taiwan and Hong King. However, China has been very aggressive on its technology advancement. Also due to the rapid economic development, China has brought close to 800 million of its population out of poverty. China has many world heritage historical sites if you are interested in history. If you like food then you are in for a big treat in China. There will be thousands of local cousins to chose from.

      More than half are on the Russia side since we see the war as a conflict between the US/NATO and Russia, not simply an invasion of Ukraine. We respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, but also respect the Russia's demand of security and against the expansion of NATO.
      Sadly, probably no one will win in the end. Personally I want to see it ends earlier rather than later.

      I live in a democratic country and most people aren't interested in politics or world news. I think they would probably wouldn't notice or care if they lived under a 'China-style system' as long as they had a steady income, a place to live, healthcare, rule of law, etc.

    @adamd9610 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Niki, I love your content and personality but (there's alway 'but' haha) there's one slightly negative thing I feel an urge to point out here.
    After spending 5 years in China, I would imagine you should have a good sense of which the largest cities in China are. Therefore, coming accross the ranking that lists Chonqging at the top I feel like you should at least raise an eyebrow and investigate it bit more thoroughly, before puting it in your facts about China section of the video.
    Even it is kind of true, when Chonquqguing minicipality is treated as a 'city proper' which means in administrative terms, it's just a classification technicality, as it's quite hard to treat a mostly rural area the size of Austria as an actual city (only including this rural area Chonquing is over 30 mil in population). In terms or urban, most city like population, Chongquing gets listed ususaly somewhere between 4th-7th place (it's quite dificult to tell due to internal workers migrations)
    Other than that and not expecting you to be a demographics expert (just a bit more alert to questionable data), good job on your videos and keep them coming.
