Late summer '93, I randomly caught this on MTV's Headbanger's Ball, recording it onto a VHS that I still have somewhere. The brutal tones, vocals, and groove were just mesmirizing, and this video still holds up after 26 years. Every time I hear it, I am 13 again.
Saw these guys at Saratoga Winners (with BoneBox and Mutha's Day Out) in like 1991 and they were incredible. This album is still in my regular rotation...
The mid 90's was a strange era for me, awesome alternative rock but I was usually in a different state of mind and this type of music kept me going like gears working together in a swiss watch.
I saw them live in Tampa on the campus of USF and this was the last song they played, and right after the drums and went into the last verse the skies opened up and it rained like a mother...no pun intended!!
@@Pedroleum100 no worries. I actually just watching Jane's Addiction concert on Amazon prime and was thinking about I Mother Earth when Stop came on. Took me back to the 90s..... good times!

Robo Q-Man Never noticed it but I can see a bit of that resemblance. This is also far more adrenalized than Galactic Cowboys. "Why Can't You Believe in Me" is a phenomenal Galactic Cowboys track, although it hews much closer sonically to King's X than I Mother Earth. And "Over My Head" is a great King's X track, too, speaking of them.☺
I don't think that's possible, there were no digital cameras shooting in FullHD in the early 90s. Only if recording label or someone from the band would release the original themselves, although it'd probably be in 4:3 anyways. I was lucky enough to get a TV-rip version myself at the time of uploading on YT. (:
It's a shame this video was so underselling. It almost made the band look boring, but after years of listening, this is the most unboring song recorded.
After the second album, it wasn't IME anymore. The music was horrible. The Quicksilver Meat Dream? I guess they were under the impression that obscure references in their music was their 'niche'. Bring back Edwin and we'll talk.
This is my favourite song ever
Can you pin this comment

I'm in my 60s and I dig the hell out of Dig. Killer album.
I was in 8th grade when this album came out, got it as part of a music club "Get 12 albums for a Penny!" best penny I ever spent.
@skeletordanzig4999 As to "best penny I ever spent" 👍 I can definitely see that! 👍. Never get bored listening to that album!
So good, Canada can do awesome 🎼🎵
Still kicks ass in 2023!
Absolutely!

“Dig” is a masterpiece of a debut album.
This band is so underrated.
Agreed, it was the album that started me playing guitar.
Hultsfred, Sweden 1993 What a show!!! Whohoo ❤️❤️❤️
This album was huge for me. Wore this cassette out in my shitbox car.
Same, this and edges of Twilight by TTP.
This is just the best song ever and Dig was the greatest rock album of all time.
Dig is a masterpiece from start to finish. Why this band didn’t break in the States is beyond me.
They had a minor hit. 4th song maybe?
I love it when you love a song 30 years ago and years go by and you hear it again and you love it all over again. Timeless.

that’s some solid 🇨🇦 rock right there.
Killer bass!!
Killer Bnd for its Style and Delivery of some Kewl Ass jamz!! \m/
I was just going to say, this song is more about the drums, percussion and vocal melody, but the bass definitely carries the groove hard!!
So underrated
He slappa the hell out of that bass
Very funky bassline
WHoo hoo awesome song, awesome memories. One of the very best.
One of the best albums ever
Edwin with IME..Love!!
Great audio quality :-)
Paramount humans reaching their artistic pinnacle for the good of mankind!!
What an awesome song and the drums and percussion are out of this world!🤘🏽🎸❤️

I watched the industry bidding war for this band on television. Waited well over a year for the album to come out in America.
Great band
This is one of my favorite tracks by this band. I went and saw them when they played After The Gold Rush back in 1994.
THIS SONG ROCKS!!!!!!
The guitar riff at the beginning reminds me of the beginning of _"Been Caught Steelin'"_ by *Jane's Addiction.*
Listen to Jane's Addiction "Stop" then this, almost identical opening riff
@@Boltsfan22 - You are right. I confused those two riffs. Sorry.

So excellent. In my opinion one of the greatest albums to come out of the 90s.

Unreal vocals at 4:10
This tune has the best groove...
just fantastic
Amazing song
Great alt band.
Sounds like the beginning of Stop by Jane’s Addiction,
They remind of Galactic Cowboys for some reason. A but more funky tho. Good jam.

classic
In the 90s you couldn't walk in a desert without being pinned to the floor ALA Jesus Christ pose.
I Mother Earth started and ended with Edwin. They should have created a new name when Brian entered the group. No disrespect to Brian.. He's a legend.
Agreed. IME just wasn't the same once Edwin left. Glad he's back and am looking forward to new music
Totally agree, didn't like IME without Edwin
Summertime in the void was a flipin amazing song!! But i do agree Edwin is the man for the band🖒
