I bought a fleetstar 201OA at an an auction a few years ago. It was a near by county fire dept. water tanker. The tank was rusted out in the tank bottom, but truck was nice. Bidding started at $50, a couple of guys ran it up to $200 than bidding stopped at$200. I bid $250 and got the truck. I used it for tree trimming around the farm. Drive it under a tree with a 8 foot ladder and trim high. I sold it to a man who needed the engine for a nice profit! Nice truck memory. Why didn't the seller give it a good wash job?

Awesome to see you growing your equipment as well as your viewers. Proud for you. Keep the vids coming and thanks for being us along. They do not build trucks like that anymore…..too much regulation from the government and the environmentalists.

Nice truck. 40 years ago I drove 69 International 2010a tandem dump truck for 5 years. It was a nice driving truck and had the smaller 478 V8. Slower than other 5) Ford L8000 all with Cat 3208 and it sucked more than twice the fuel at 2.3 mpg.

The town next to where I live used to have fire pumper truck that had a 549 in it. It had ignition systems in it.

I worked for an International dealer in Casper WYOMING in the early 1970s and these trucks were quite popular those were great trucks and very good engine's, I tuned up a lot of them I want to say they were rated at 220 horsepower and close to 500 foot pounds of torque nice clean truck. I tell you with the cost of diesel fuel and the problems with these diesel engines you can run a lot of trouble free miles with that gas engine. Tune it up ever so often and service all you have to do.

Nice old ih. I've got a 78 loadstar with the 446 gaser. Mpg is low lol. Best I've ever had was 7 loaded and 9 unloaded.

Yeah I think was getting 5 the whole way home but that was blowing tags cob webs out of the carb and then going as fast as it would the whole way so should go up slightly now that it’s home

Nice clean, straight original truck! 549 is a great engine, just really thirsty on gas. Had a '62 V-196, she passed everything but gas stations. Good luck!

Nice addition to the farm. We used to refer to the IH’s as “Binders,” because they take about a 40-acre field just to turn them around. From what you showed, it looks pretty sound - especially for farm use. 👍

    • @knappfarms

It’s from the old terms corn binder and grain binder, which IH was widely known for. So people called them that because of their relationship to the farm equipment.

Oh hell yes!! The Loadstar and Fleetstar trucks from that era are among the coolest ever made, and tough, as shown by how great it still looks and runs after 55 years, especially after working as a logging truck in its earlier life. Is that a speaker up at the front of the headliner? I wonder if IH used tube radios in ‘68. If they did, it just might take a couple minutes for it to warm up after you turn it on. But really, that’s one hell of an amazing purchase. I’m jealous. I’d make it my daily driver around the ‘burbs!
