I’ve been on the farm my whole life, and I loved this video! Stumbled upon it watching other farm videos like my own and admire what you are doing. Your terminology may be a little off, but your drive to do what you are doing and willingness to learn is spot on and I love that! There’s too much of a removal in this world between people and how their food is produced creating all sorts of misconceptions. It’s videos like this that show people what it’s all about without argument or misrepresentation, just entertainment.
    Keep up the great work!

Thank you for that comment. Buying this combine was something I was told was useless and it was only good for scrap. After I did the beans I had more local people switch and tell me how great it was. Gearing up for corn now I couldn’t be more happy with the direction it’s going. I’m learning a new thing and showing people the entire process and not caring about my lack of knowledge. I’ve had lots of good help from some local farmers and will keep going. Thank you very much for the feedback. Means a lot. Take care

I grew up with these machines. Our farm had a 6600 and a 7700 which were the big brother to your 4400. We farmed 2400 acres of corn and soybeans with them and in my opinion for the finest machines Deere ever produced. My dad both operated the 7700 and maintained each combine and would tear them down every summer after cultivating and prep them for harvest. To my knowledge they never broke down during harvest once. When you cleaned the hopper out between each field you are lucky to get an ice cream pail of grain they did such a fine job of cleaning themselves out. As far as quality is concerned, later combines never really got better at harvesting only faster.

Since your new to the whole combine thing...
When you start your separator, do it at idle...
Grease and lubrication are a must...
    Keep it clean and dry...

I wasn’t going to comment but like Jax said “screw them it’s your channel”. I had a best friends father pass away suddenly when I was younger out here in Alberta. His Dad had a fair sized grain operation and with the harvest around the corner it was absolutely amazing how the farming community rallied around him. I took two weeks of vacation to help out and never worked so hard In my life and the same time never felt more gratified! It’s a strong bond in the farming community and I learnt some new! Like my Dad said if your not doing and learning your not contributing!

You're living my dream right down to the 4020, my grandpas workhorse. I always idolized my grandpa farming and wanted to follow in his footsteps. The generation before me pissed away all of grandpas land and equipment for him. Family that is left that still farms isn't interested in any help from me. So, I am thinking fuck it, I will do it myself. My kid graduates in 10 years and I think I could sort out buying a 50-100 acre farm by then. I want to use older/primitive equipment I can mostly service myself in most cases. I can learn on youtube and claim "insurance" until I have profitable crops. I think I can do this. I just tire of farmers complaining that small family farms are dying but wont do fuckall to help it or accept free help for someone to learn. Farming is competitive and sometimes ugly.
