Lovely. I so wish I had been there.I have some replies for the trash talkers who seem to not understand much. This was a recording that could never (well, maybe) capture the delicacy, the nuance, the hummingbird wing quavers that those who were there for the performance got to experience. Those that understand acoustics as well as the physics behind music and who have experienced a wide body of live music know what I refer to. This was still special to listen to. Thank you Robert.
to all people that laugh about the guy that doesn't play a note: He provides silence, which is indeed a Fripp concept, you can see this in many orchestras that plays Fripp compositions, so don't laugh about this guy, he does a very descent job
What? No. Are you insane? Nobody can play Smoke on the Water. It's impossible. In fact, I'm pretty sure that song doesn't even exist. What's this 035 thing anyways? 368? Never heard of it. Who's Deep Purple? What? You're telling me songs can be played on one string? Why didn't anyone tell me this? Where was this when I started off playing barre chords, complicated blues licks and intricate solos?
Did you guys try the final three chords as a whiz? I'd imagine it could go quite fast and be quite fun depending on your numbers. Great performance! Thanks for sharing the videos from this show!
Well played! I thought the first piece actually made better use of the circle of guitars and I thought that it was curiously ironic that a bunch of guitarists playing a Fripp tune were standing up. I mean if you really want to Fripp it up, you'd be sitting down in homage to the master. No biggie, good music though!
You can see it in the reactions they were waiting for the guy that signaled stop to signal start again but the people started clapping and then that looked at him like are we done or??
Fraser Maccallum There's footage of lots of amazing stuff on here. Have you ever tried playing one sitting down though? It slides out from under you, a big pain in the ass. But aside from their shape, my main beef with ovation is that they're stamped out in plastic molds. Call me a purist but I prefer a wooden guitar. Most Ovations I've played sound beautiful, especially plugged in, but it simply is a comfort issue. And IMO ovations are the most uncomfortable mass produced guitars.
Fraser Maccallum Yeah standing up with a strap they're fine and it might help the guitar from sliding around while sitting down, but you shouldn't have to wear a strap when your playing sitting down. I just want to be able to pick up and play and not have to worry about wearing a strap, especially when playing acoustic.
What is the point of this or the whole band in general? Everyones playing the same thing, some add an ovtave or harmony or something sometimes? This could be achieved with 4 guitarist.

This sounds so incredibly boring compared to the Original version of this song. Please Everybody should listen to "King Crimson In the court of the Crimson King".
The "circle of guitars" adds nothing to the song, and I fail to see what having so many guitars doing the exact same thing achieves? At least in a real orchestra everyone plays a small part that adds to the whole. I wanted to love becausw i love the original but this but this is just boring and very pointless.
pinkletoes If you look at other things the Circle do, they do have that variation between different guitarists (playing different parts), and usually what you'll find in an orchestra is that the "small parts" are usually (or at least often) performed in unison by instrument sets (an orchestra being built on the idea that playing more instruments at the same time is louder and sounds fuller, hence that fact).
+pinkletoes And they seem a bit sloppy compared to Fripp. For a much better version that is a real reinterpretation instead of an attempt at a slavish copy listen to the Von Hertzen Brothers version.
@@humanman2358 If she was a cool hippie chick, ripped jeans, Metallica T-shirt, messed up hair, cigarette hanging out of the side of her mouth with that 7 AM no coffee look she wouldn't have annoyed me that much Or if she was a goth chick with multiple piercings and a pink mohawk and tattoos on the side of her head then she wouldn't have annoyed me at all. I now know the 21st Century Schizoid man plays a red guitar. My day is now complete.
Is the unic that dont' have the OVATION Guitar
Red guitar guy's like, Oh fuck, I practised a different song!
He was like
Dang I learned pictures of a city instead
Quite an accomplishment for so many musicians to pull off "Mirrors" live. Wow!

Thank you Robert.
It takes a very good guitarist to play this song without messing up
guy in with red guitar was the best
actually he is listening and counting
He's the visual representation of the silence (from which music originates).
LOL!
:-)))) well seen ! :-)
shades of Bill Bruford's 'admirable restraint'?

very impressive skill, unbelievable performance

maybe his first day on the guitar !
frigital I love it when he does a completely irrelevant vibrato
jenous44 hm... maybe hes there just for the hearing experience! i bet it sounds amazing to just listen it all up close
Sometimes the best note to play is silence.
Who bought the LP just because of the cover? I certainly did and it was a revelation to a 16 year old.
Why does Serj Tankian not play any notes? Did he miss practice or something?
Lmao

poor left handers
great video by the way
No left handers allowed ?!?.....
i dont like comunism
Well, Robert Fripp himself is left-handed, although he plays right-handed, so...
@@redwiresound both of my cousins are left handed (a guitarist and drummer) and both play their instruments in a right handed fashion

awesome
Not quite the same without a saxophone but very creative nontheless!

fripp ,...god
3:44 yeah
The first three minutes and 40 seconds are so painful! It picks up after that.
Why is everyone playing Ovations?
Fraser Maccallum The curved back makes playing sitting down impossible and looks like a big onion.. except no one cries when you cut an ovation.
I'm sure there is footage of seated players playing them... Anyway what's wrong with ovations
Fraser Maccallum There's footage of lots of amazing stuff on here. Have you ever tried playing one sitting down though? It slides out from under you, a big pain in the ass. Well done.
The main point is the unison of all the players. Making the whole band sound like one giant guitar

I personally think is a good version despite preffering the original.
But I agree with you about everyone listening in the court of the crinsom King
Er, by point of fact I believe Mr. Fripp trained this group...
i call bull.
oh my bad. i thought fripp was extremely introverted and didn't talk to anyone. thats a pretty big surprise for me.
He is SUPER surprising. Very unusual individual. :)
