You are so right!! It's very true regarding the fit of things lining up after a accident. Someone hit my car in a p-lot, and on the surface, it looked pretty minor. But once you looked underneath there were things bent that you couldn't see if you didn't know what you were looking for, and this caused the gaps around the hood and doors to look off. The cost doubled after the inspection. But it was the only way to get things to line up correctly again so that all the gaps were symmetrical. It's easy to tell if a car was hit if the gaps around the hood, and doors are not even. Some people wouldn't mind, but I'm a stickler for it being done right. The cost was worth it to me.
Definitely a great tip to put all! Panels on to make sure they fit. I bought two wings for a Audi A4 b7 got the old wing off, new wing on Checked the holes lined up painted it all up went to fit it and the bumper wouldn't fit because the Audi b7 is the same car as the b6 only difference is the bumper and the swage line I didn't bother to look at🙈
Second that. I've been learning from TH-cam for years +. I'm not a painter, just a DIY'er and love learning about things I'm interested in. You are well on with making a great channel and the content is very well executed. Doing a great job - wish you much success. Hook up with some other channel providers and get a bump, you deserve more exposure. I doubt 2021 will start with 2K subscribers, x10 or more.
I very much appreciate your kind words and your positive comment on my channel. I have been trying to Collab with other channels as I know my content is good and I just need the exposure but for now the small community is good and we will see where it goes. I wish you a happy new year!
Love your vids man and i follow a couple paint guys i have to say, your vids look are edited like you have 100k + subs really put time into it you can tell. Anyway 2 questions, is the sealer more for saving paint because ive never had problems spraying my bases over primers or does the sealer give a better color match and lays the metallics down better? and what psi do you use for your base and clear gun? Thanks!
Thanks Alex! I edit my videos to try and capture an audience to gain more subscribers to the paint society so we can all learn together so I do appreciate you noticing the time and effort behind the editing and the video tools to make them possible. I never was a fan of sealers until I started using them, first off they create better adhesion so less rock chipping because it creates a cushion between the primer and the top coat, secondly I use it for coverage because sometimes covering primer can be tough, the way that base lays over sealer is so smooth, and lastly its cheap insurance in case you have some stray sanding marks. Hope this helps!
Brian yet another great vlog you are excellent at spraying the finish is like a mirror I am new to this I would be grateful if you would tell me when you sanded the doors for the blend what grit did you use and to blend the doors did you put a base coat and clear coat or just a clear
Thanks Brian! I sanded with 800 grit and a gray scuff pad. To Blend the doors, I used clear base where the basecoat would End, then I sprayed the base, then clear coat
Brian Owens always will! Did you hear the opening phrase? Learning doesn’t stop when the video ends! It’s how I want my channel to be. Happy New Years Brian!
Tinted sealer wet on wet. No sanding. Straight to base after. Sure does save a lot of material to have tintable sealer from sikkens. It’s called colorbuild.
Hi brian my car is the same color as this rdx but it's a 2020 last night someone did a hit and run and hit my drivers side rear quarter panel. Now it got a big dent and scratch. I contact my dealership here in Vancouver Canada and the said my cars color is hard to spray and there's only 3 shop can do it. I was wondering if you can enumerate the type of paint that was used in this repair. Thank you in advance!
I can’t really compare them because I use them for two different needs. The ws400 really breaks up the clear wel while the dv1 can lay down the hardest metallics with ease.
Hello Brian, what sealer are you using, i am going to paint my car sonic blue and was thinking of doing a sealer before paint, is there anything in nason that you recommend?
Hey, there is not much detailed info on yt about hardener and reducers and what temps to use them can u make a quick vid explaining in the near future! What temp should u use a fast slow or med hardener and reducers for base and for clear for both temp outside and temp on metal and all that fun stuff, thanks and happy new year
Tinting the sealer is built into our system, the actual system is called color build and it allows you to mix different shades according to which chip you pick out
Thank you for your reply, my next question would be: do you think adding a little bit of base to let’s say gray sealer to do some tinting would work? Or mixing base and sealer would result in some sort of unwanted reaction? Thanks in advance
OK, just thought maybe you had some prior experience with something like that. Wasn’t sure how the system at your shop worked if it actually added some basecoat to sealer or if it was some dedicated toner that was made specifically for sealer
Hey Brian good job where are you located are you in California is that sickens the water base or solvent I've been painting 32 years no more solvent just water but I do use the low voc solvent in California on different occasions great job bro keep it going
Hey mine was in a a small accident like that but after I got it back it has some lights on like adaptive curse control malfunction see your dealer, I think the code was b1376
Hey! I actually chatted about the inside of the hood but left it out of the video just to keep the video within 20 minutes. Basically what I said was that nowadays manufactures are getting really cheap and making it easier on us actually. The inside of the hood just got base and then I threw some clear base over it. The original hood barely had any coverage over the e-coat in some areas you can see right down to the sealer, so in order to keep it “factory” that’s what we do.
Looks awesome!! So if you had to pick just one sealer gun, one primer gun, one base gun and one clear gun what would they be? Just looking for some good input. Looking to expand my gun cabinet!
Wesley Johnson the Copper will do it all. Dv1 is great for metallics but for sure my copper is the work horse. Have had it over ten years. Sprays like day 1
At times there are stickers under the hood for the catalytic converter or serpentine belt guides, how do you guys go about removing those to transfer them to the new hood? Can’t pass smog without the stickers at times.
Love the videos brother, can you tell me about the sealer, the car I'm working on is 01G silver, I am putting 3 panels from a white car on it, I am planning on spraying the whole car 01G silver once I'm done doing the bodywork, what should I use for a sealer or can I just spray the 01G base and done?
Really enjoying your videos! A non-professional/painter question here. I have an Accord in Still Water Pearl, and I have a couple questions if you don’t mind. How hard and thick is the factory paint? I notice it’s easily scuffed past the base coat due to our garbage cans getting knocked in the wind. Is this considered an easy or hard color to paint match?
Very good video exerlent is that solvent base paint, what size tip did you use on the gun. Cause interested in a new base coat gun. Ether the Sata x5550 with o pattern or that that gun. Give me your option on it. The clear laid on flat looks like no buffing. Anyway try the Dv1 gun with a bigger tip and see what happen s. Again Beautiful video👌👍
We are using solvent-based paint. The 5500 is a really good gun and I actually use it from time to time on base. Every car get some buffing here and there from natural nibs that are under the paint, no job is ever perfect and I plan on showing how to take care of small fish eyes or Trash in the future.
Yes and it is all I have used for the past 10 years, they hold the pressure right where you dial it in so you Don’t get that rush of air when you pull the trigger.
I've to I've seen many TH-cam painters, gunman, motivated painter and many more use this trial light. But only see them use it for that trial day. After that they never use it again.Just wondering why they give it such great reviews, but don't use it more than once.
They are both great painters and although I can’t speak for them the main reason why I see the light is for coverage, all of us have great booth lighting but that light actually shows me where I need to add more layers of paint so that we do not see the primer underneath, everyone will use a tool for their particular need and it suits me just well for that need.
@@PaintSociety oh I totally agree, with some of this Nason paints needing 6 or 7 coats to cover, that light definitely helps to make sure coverage has been accomplished. Was just wondering why many just use it once. But like you said they have other flashlight like tools for that purpose.
I always love your videos. You can really tell that you put a lot of work into your videos, excellent editing etc. Thank you for that!
This is one of your best videos yet!! That light is so cool!!
Shout out to luma iii! Glad you
Enjoyed the video, I watched it on the big screen today.
I need that light!!!!!!

Is it not important to also blend the passenger A pillar? or is it too small of an area to matter?

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
My RDX got repaired everything came out flawless with oem parts but the hood is higher from the front than one side, how can I adjust it ?

Yes this video was a general rebuild video, other videos I get more technical. I will keep that in mind for future videos
Hey, I have a 05 Acura RL how much would it cost Me to get it painted that same Apex Blue Pearl ????? I'm very serious please help 🙏
Another great video Brian. Quick question for you, how do you tint the sealer?

david lee it’s a ton of a kind system and we love it. Saves on material and time.

WOUTERR100 factory is like that as well on a brand new one
How do you bend back bent edges/ lips of a hood or trunk that has been in a wreck? Big pliers with a soft cloth? Is there a more professional way?
That’s how I do it ! 👍
Looks awesome!! So if you had to pick just one sealer gun, one primer gun, one base gun and one clear gun what would they be? Just looking for some good input. Looking to expand my gun cabinet!
Sounds like a good video to me. Get a devilbiss tekna and it will do all those really good! Primer you can just use a finish line
I currently have two tekna prolites as well as the tekna clearcoat gun
For sure gonna get a dv1 also
Wesley Johnson the Copper will do it all. Dv1 is great for metallics but for sure my copper is the work horse. Have had it over ten years. Sprays like day 1

You should seal. It will make for a nicer finish in the end and you’ll use much less paint and have better hold out against paint shrinkage.
@@PaintSociety do you have a video explaining the whole sealing process, and what is the sealer that we speak about?
Thank you!
It will be a tough tough to blend, factory paint isn’t too thick. Light Metallics can be tricky !
What color blue is that i beleive its my favorite so far
Tony's DIY Vehicle Flips & Rebuilds Tennessee , I think he said "Apex Blue Pearl".
So paint scratch gives it to the name apex blue pearl but by Acura it’s called still night blue pearl and the paint code is B575p

Marklyn Smith 1.4

Yes and it is all I have used for the past 10 years, they hold the pressure right where you dial it in so you
Don’t get that rush of air when you pull the trigger.
