- I take in a whistlestop tour of Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire, William Shakespeare's birthplace, The Royal Shakespeare Theatre, and a full walkabout around the shops with a Town Tour! I check out the local fudge shop and see how it's made. Walk through some of the riverside parks and have a look at the Holy Trinity Church.
Stratford-upon-Avon, a medieval market town in England’s West Midlands, is the 16th-century birthplace of William Shakespeare. Possibly the most famous writer in the English language, Shakespeare is known for his sonnets and plays such as 'Romeo and Juliet' and 'Hamlet'. The Royal Shakespeare Company performs his plays in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and adjacent Swan Theatre on the banks of the River Avon

Thank you so much I appreciate your support 🙏
I LOVE Stratford! We got married there. Go twice a year, we're going in August for my husbands birthday to see Merry Wives of Windsor. I left my bouquet on Shakespeare's grave. Holy Trinity has changed - you used to be able to go straight into the main entrance and up to the grave. We always stay in the same hotel, The Falcon, but a conglomerate took it over and now it's called Hotel Indigo, but it's still great. Had such happy times there. Thanks for the film.
Oh wow, that’s amazing! I also really love Stratford and used to work there a long time ago, I remember having a drink in the falcon once. I hope they haven’t over restored it? Maybe it would be a good place for a hotel review 🤔
@@andrewemmerson Have to admit I was disappointed when they changed it to Hotel Indigo. I don't think they've over restored it, but I think they should have kept the name, it was The Falcon for centuries. Shakespeare would be turning in his grave (if he's really in there)... I think it would be a great place to review - breakfasts are good. I saw Anthony Sher walking round the grounds of Holy Trinity (years ago).
@@smorgsie I agree they really should have kept the name, It was always well known for people to meet up there!
Also, I got my engagement ring from George Pragnell! My husband (Neil) proposed outside the RSC he had asked them if he could propose on the empty stage but they wouldn't allow it (tut). I also recommend Lambs of Sheep Street for dinner, it's our favourite.
Ahh so Stratford is really special for you! Yes I used to go to Lambs quite frequently too!
What a beautiful town ❤ but omg it looks so busy! Was this filmed on a weekend?
Yes it was! It was filmed on a Saturday also I think it was half term in some towns, so made it more crowded, still a beautiful place to see though!
Our hotel is opposite New Place.
Ahh The Falcon!
i’ve been to the theatre, it was great, although our seats where very steep :?
I remember our seats were steep too, however creates a good atmosphere!
