My massive 2017 cruise around the canals of England is drawing to a close and in this episode I take on the massive 21-lock Hatton flight again - this time with a Special Guest Crew.
After that it's a quick hop around Warwick and Leamington, up and down some more locks and the end is in sight. The vlogs ARE continuing over winter, fret not, but it's back to fireside chats and DIY rather than cruising videos.

Another season of soporific splendour afloat comes to a close. The DIYs are so good for your fellow boaters and I did, out of a combination of loyalty and curiosity watch those of other seasons. Re the "Danger of falling" sign on the lock gate, I was once on a tour of a Royal Navy destroyer and the gun turret, capable of launching a terrifying amount of explosive death over the horizon, was helpfully labelled "Caution: turret may move without warning."
I look forward to each adventure. It was nice to see a crew this time and plenty of traffic along the way!

I wouldn't mind a little cold, lot of snow. I can't say the same for everyone in my area though. One flake hits the road, no one seems to know how to drive it seems. :|

Our cut cruiser is based there but sadly I won't be aboard cruising again until next June ahhhhhhhh so long away! But thanks to your vlogs I still have my canal moments!! Braunston if I remember has many a kingfisher, such beautiful bird.

Ok this is uncanny - I toggle back and forth amongst various nb vloggers (oldest vids to newest, in order) and lo and behold, watched you visit the Narrowboat Experience on day 11 of their holiday, then in the very next video I watched Kate and Anna crewing your boat! The end of an epic journey. Congratulations David - a job very well done. Thank you so much for all the work you put in not only running the boat but making all the videos too.
O.k. here it is David. Your obligatory cycling slam. It's much easier for some to cycle to shops, laundry, and cafes due to joint issues and it's safer off road rather than on. I make the boys stay on the pavement rather than the road because it is safer even out in a rural setting. They are more courteous than most pedestrians and always leave plenty of passing space . I myself use the pavement on busy high traffic roads if no bike lane is available or cars are parked on both sides . Very few if any pedestrian vs cyclist fatalities. A lot of car vs cyclist fatalities. That said, very nice summer of vlogs. Very much enjoyed all of them. It was very nice of the girls to come and crew for you. Good deal too if only for the price of lunch. TTFN.

I was born (1945) alongside the cut in Leamington Spa. There were still working barges in those days and always got a wave from the burgees as they chugged past my back yard.
Watching your videos I’m amazed at the amount of traffic with all the social boating these days. I left Leamington for Australia in 1966.

I just want to say your vlog has been worth it's weight in gold! I must have watched about 30 episodes in the last 2 weeks (and only just found out your name is David!) The boat we bought was only the 4th one we looked at and although it felt like we rushed into it a bit at the time, nothing I've seen on your vlog since has made me feel that way any more! I think we got a bargain (partly due to my wifes stunning good looks and powers of persuasion!) I love your presentation and the way you keep it simple. Another superb vid there CTC. Your very chilled out these days, all this fine cruising your doing. Nice to see Hatton Locks, just a few miles away and it’s the place that got me into NB’s many years ago. Winter repairs eh, what’s on the list, anything major? I have a small fleet of hire boats to paint by mid March mostly on my own😳 Over a dozen boats and most of them being stripped for full paint jobs. All good fun and if I can’t paint a boat after that I’m off! Take care, enjoy the lay up.
