My longest video to date sorry about that guys. I just didn't wanna leave out anything I thought was interesting. I did quite a few pours on this one and although I was a bit disappointed I'm still kinda happy with the outcome. Another step closer to cracking the target which isn't far away now . Still an awesome heap of pieces to add to the stack. Anyway enough of my rambling do have yourself an awesome day and be sure to comment for the algorithm but most Importantly have yourself an absolutely awesome weekend and I'll see you all next Friday. I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to melt but I know I'm gonna enjoy it😁👋🏻
The crucible shedding off Graphite from it is probably due to the amount of times it's been used and heated. So the layers are slowly delaminating from the surface and literally cracking and breaking off. The main problem causing it could be a lack of time to let it cool down but it could also be wear and tear. After it's heated up you could probably put it in some Ice Water so the heat has time to dissipate easier through the Water, but I'm not entirely sure if it would fix it if the Delamination is already happening.
This man arose at the crack of zero-too-early to go through the bins at Tetanus-A-GoGo for our entertainment; he has never missed a Friday since the beginning. BigstackD is a giant among humans. ❤
He truly is an amazing human being... I only discovered his videos a while back and have watched all the current videos and also started at the beginning I'm about 1/2 way through year 6 I think... Much ❤ from Washington State, U.S.A.
Am i the only one who was cracked up by the sheer silliness of flipping through a book to obtain the ingredients for the BigsnackD? You brightened up my day with that little interlude. Thank you for that.
Leaf lettuce does have potassium in it 70 mg. Tomatoes have 10 mg iodine per kg. and yes there is nickel in white bread. He actually had them on the right page. That "samwich" looked delicious.
yeah, I cracked up when the bigsnack ingredients were found in the book and on a shelf. like the tomato was just laying in the book unnoticed until he flipped the page. 😂
46:59 My favorite part is the fact you spend so much time and money doing this despite only getting $11 (American) out of it. That's dedication and shows how much you love melting stuff.
Love these junkyard melts. But really wanna see a melt of somethings in your jars like the sanding dust or such. Think a bunch of small coins or small objects with it be awesome.
I feel I need to be honest and tell you I give all your videos a thumbs up before even watching them because I know the puppies will be in them and I'm very easily pleased.
🗑🔥🌟 This guy is a true treasure hunter, braving the early hours and digging through dumpsters to find hidden gems for our entertainment. His dedication and consistency are commendable, never missing a Friday. BigstackD is a legend among us, turning trash into treasure and showcasing incredible metal melting skills. Keep up the amazing work! 💪👏🔥
Great storytelling. I like the comfort of repeated plots but different characters. Metals are different, snackDs are individual and often innovative like today.
Your videos are the best! There are no worst or best parts the whole thing from start to finish is exactly what it needs to be! Keep up the great work we all know how much time you put into making these videos and it is so very much appreciated! Cheers from Southern Utah, USA!
AHHHHH BEST CHANNEL EVER! ready to spend some time with bullion and ingot, the BEST boy's. and the guy who melts stuff and gives the boys the treats he is pretty cool too. TY for all the content D.
Also, MUCH nicer than what came out of the bin. It’s always wonderful when metals that would have been wasted is reclaimed, no matter what shape it’s in. You do great work!
Haven't watched the video yet, thought I would pop in to make my weekly contribution. Rode 1,000 km today to finally get to Darwin!! I'll binge watch your uploads in 11 days when I get home. Have a great weekend my friend.
No worries at all buddy. They’ll be waiting for you when you’re safely off the road. About five years ago I backpacked around Australia and honestly I was very disappointed with the Northern Territory and don’t think I’ll ever go back. Although I must admit I did spend a few awesome nights in Alice Springs but there was a lot of bad eggs around when I went through. Ride safe my friend👊🏻😁
One of the reasons that I watch your videos is that I like just about everything you do. From scrapping in the bins, disassembly & stripping of pieces, selection & loading up of the crucibles, the melts and pours, BigSnackD, clown abuse, sock reveal, ingot clean up, stack addition and overview and time with the boys. I even like the weather commentary. 3 months ago we had to wait for a day without fire restrictions and now it is only 12 degrees Celcius and we're getting rain (that the furnace helps dry out). I miss that the only wildlife shown were the dogs. Where were the insects, mice, spiders lizards, and birds we've seen before? Now that (I think) you've finished setting up your new digs, I would like to get a workshop tour (but that is probably a video all on it's own) including the TFE that you have. You know that exhaust you have when you are cleaning/polishing the bars. Where does that vent to? What about all the other safety equipment you use? Do you have plans for any upgrades (we know about your desire for a water tank from this episode as an example).
Hello from the US! I've been watching you for a good while now, and really enjoy your content. I particularly like watching you break down bigger items into their components, separate the various metals and explain what you're doing. This video had it all! Plus your humor and good nature shine through and put a smile on my face 😊😊 Thanks for the years of hard work and great videos, cheers! 🍻🍻
Lengthy videos are amazing! I use these to fall asleep and I always go back to the last spot I remember; so a long video can last me the whole week sometimes!❤
Right on man, I like the long ones. Friday nights are pretty quiet around these parts, so its cool to enjoy with a beer. cheers, have a good weekend mate.
Love the melt and the subtle humour.... nothing to dislike. Have started to melt metal myself... Have started a channel with my son, will send you the link soon. Thanks for all your inspiration. Never realised how much fun this was until I tried it for myself.
I’d have to say you have topped yourself. This video is now my favorite. Key points, dumpster diving, melting, that handburger, and those pups. That piece you bought off of E-bay I kinda feel like it was stamped right after being poured. I can’t help myself but to search and see how it’s done.
I am sure that you already know this, but I will say this anyway. Stuff you find with chrome on it, will most likely have a brass core. Brass is perfect for adding a chrome layer to it. When I find chrome bits, I always take them with me. Thought I should share this with you. Thumbs up for these video's.
My comment is, I liked all the video :) The bubbling on those molds, was probably because of having the molds out (sand) and the humidity / weather got absorbed, having a higher water content inside. The crucibles being discoloured and the 'scale' build up on them is a series of associated things, it is basically oxidizing the crucible, between 'too much flux' and temperature changes in the heating container, absorbing moisture from the air and then being heated, and then sums of slag (dross) that slowly absorb through the crucible wall and oxidize it on heating etc.
Awwww! Nooo! How can you resist him! Sad I know, but every time I hug my dog, it is a hug I won't get again when he is gone, so I do every chance I get! 😂Loved this as usual. So relaxing... Would love for you to cast a batleth! 😂
I have been watching consistently over a year and I really enjoyed this longer one. I watch with my boy and it’s a good way to show him, that if it isn’t right try it again. Keep up the hard work. We watch this every weekend here in Texas.
I’ve been a big fan of yours since you started. I had to binge watch the past month and a half worth of videos because of long work hours. But glad I’ve caught up. Got to say my favourite pours are Copper and Aluminium with the big Ingots. From a Kiwi fan across the ditch.
The best part is when the videos start, The worst part is at the very end when the videos are over! I could watch all day long if I could and the videos were that long... LOL
As a scrapper, seeing the sheer amount of pristine prepared steel and even HMS that you passed up hurt so bad. I guess i better start hitting the dumpsters again.
Gday mate, love your vids! Thanks so much for the entertainment and inspiration to start such a wonderful and cool (actually quite hot) hobby! Your video quality is just getting better and better, and you have the most consistent upload schedule I have ever seen. I haven’t seen the video yet but great job on the bars! I know they will be amazing! Please give Ingot and Bullion a nice treat and have a great day!

The problem with brass is that the zinc wants to boil off and oxidise, that's why there so much slag. A good hand full of borax and fine silica sand will form a seal over the melt and help keep oxidation to a minimum. If the melted borax and silica ends up in the mould, no problem just chip it off the ingot afterwards.

Interesting in that he probably spent 5X that amount to produce the metal trinkets. Truly a passionate interest.
Yes but the actual value from doing that is from video revenue, so it's actually worth it to him
When the price of all this metal goes up he will be the last one laughin 😊
The money from the video pays his bills, the metal is just a bonus, lol
