  • The question is to buy or build, I chose build. Building an overland pop-up truck camper or a pickup pop up as I like to call it. The plan is to have it act like a wedge camper as well as a full pop up. Not doing the vanlife or trucklife so the camper needs to be able to come on and off. It also needs come apart to store in a small space.
    More info will be here:
    boulderunderground.com/camp/c...
List of all dimensions and materials coming later with the same link
If you need a link to anything about the build, just leave a comment and I will get it added.

Thanks for sharing your design. I've been searching the web for quite sometime to find a build like this. Eagerly waiting for the rest of your series.

I love building with 8020 myself, and I can't wait to see your progress. I'm contemplating the same sort of build as well. Thanks for sharing.

This is excellent and exactly what we are currently attempting. Your detailed study and application are right on for diy builders. Look forward to seeing more. Thanks!

I used the anchor and butt joints and they work VERY well.

LOVE, LOVE 80/20! I'm it's biggest promoter. However, it's WAY too heavy for a camper. Looks great but off-road that mass will be scary.

Thank you so much. Do you have a video of you actually installing the frame on your truck? I am a visual learner. I like to turn the sound off and watch. What you're building is an amazing process, but it's a lot to follow along with your communication teaching style.

Install videos are coming soon. I don't have too much footage but I will be doing a total teardown and rebuild. Going to make lots of timelapse to show everything. I plan to transition to more visual videos. I wasn't going to do a build series so I only captured a little bit of the process. There is a lot of talking trying to catch up but that will change.

Lock tight and or. Lock washers would make not come apart . ? Right ?

from the looks of your video I need to acquire a CNC and a suite of computer software in order to build a camper... should I construct a spray booth too?

Or you can make the camper into a spray booth for my CNC projects.

Where did you find those long 1.5"x3"? I've been looking but the 80/20 site doesn't give U.S as a country option. ..🤔

      For 80/20 search under the "15 Series" - 8020.net/1530.html
80/20 just changed their max length on pieces. They directed me to a couple of their distributors where I can by the long pieces again.
