  • The question is to buy or build, I chose build. Building an overland pop-up truck camper or a pickup pop up as I like to call it. The plan is to have it act like a wedge camper as well as a full pop up. Not doing the vanlife or trucklife so the camper needs to be able to come on and off. It also needs come apart to store in a small space.
    More info will be here:

List of all dimensions and materials coming later with the same link
If you need a link to anything about the build, just leave a comment and I will get it added.

Will the camper be a solo sleeper? I ask because of the orientation of the popup.
Like what you have come up with so far.

This is a fascinating build, and I’m working my way through all your videos. I think I’ll be spending my winter designing my own now.

Thank you for the great videos. I'm currently designing my own build.
Is it feasible to extend the cantilever 4ft and support it with roof racks?

Check out youtuber ripcord @RipcordHQ. He has a little shorty rack sherpaec.com/products/animas . I think that might be the way to go if it will fit. The camper articulates separately from the cab so there still needs to be a gap between them while driving but can attach them at night for support

The build in my head so far...no farther than that, uses the folding wall system similar to the Hiatus Camper, check it out! Nice job so far!

They have a great idea going for them. Hopefully I will be able to come up with something that works as smoothly as theirs.

Awesome build!! I'm trying to design an 8020 camper and was wondering if you had any tips and suggestions for materials for leak proofing the camper?
