    A little science info for you: some rubbers, plastics , polycarbonate ( HDPE is the most widely used polyethylene film for food packaging. It is semi-translucent and highly solvent-resistant.) are very similar molecularly to oils and fats in foods. So much so, they often bond at a molecular level. Hence the propensity for staining and why those stains can be so hard to clean off. The more you know lol

      On another note, It could also be related to the soap and wash cycle settings of the dishwasher. The convenience pods dont have a prewash allotment so you need a powder/liquid/gel additive. As well, the pods sometimes overdose the soap for that wash type which can leave spots and soapy residue on the newly cleaned containers, plates, etc.

One way to check food grade silicone: stretch the product, if the stretch stays clear it's good, if it turns while while stretching, return it. Also, food safe silicone should not have a smell, if it smells like any sort of plastic, return it.

    To get food stains out of plastic, I have found that putting the item in direct sunlight for a day or so works really quite well. I'd try the same thing with the bags. Yeah, all the red flags were super huge when he showed them, they'r so obvious. Also I bet the item listing wasn't even new, they just copy-pasted over their last item listing for bluetooth earbuds or color changing coffee mugs and changed out the pictures, bet the older reviews are like "took forever to get my coffee mug but it's okay, only it doesn't even change colors". Because these guysa re usually so lazy they just switch all the info for whatever they're selling now and change their brand name to reflect it.
      Sometimes they don't even get the whole listing changed and you'll be reading about the silicone bag and suddenly there's part of the description about "these earbuds connect seamless to your phone with bluetooth technology. You will be satisfied with the clear sound..." and you're like wait what product am I looking at again? Many many times I've gone back to old orders to look something up or re-purchase something I liked and the listing is some totally different item.

      I have similar bags and they're really not, you just pull them inside out, wipe it, rinse it, dry it inside out, then turn it right side out and let the outside dry. It takes 1 second to turn it inside out like any bag. Unless you have an issue with using your hands it's not an issue, and if it is you probably have trouble washing anything. jars and containers have an inside and you can't even turn those inside out for easy access.. and you could still wash these like any container lol your hand can fit inside you know... I've never been able to wash the inside of a jar easily if the opening is too small, I have to put the sponge inside the jar and then use a spoon to scrub it around and then use the spoon to tug the sponge back out of the jar, how is this harder than that BS?

    They're too stiff to put "bigger" items in. They just don't flex the same an plastic freezer bags.

    Great review, James! First, they are way too expensive. Anything with a high acid content will stain the material, period. Try soaking and scrubbing them in hot water with Dawn and bleach. For a much cheaper solution, use disposable/reusable plastic containers such as those made by Glad. When they get stained, throw them away. I never store acidic foods such as tomato sauce in reusable containers unless they are made of glass.

    I learned years ago to NOT use a dishwasher for silicon items - they always come out in a powdery film.
    I handwash & it's fine.
    Tip: For any food stain on any plastic or silicon container - put a tissue sheet or 1/2 a papertowel sheet in the container...squirt in a tiny bit of any dish detegent, 1/2 fill with super hot tap water, close up container & shake until bubbly & paper has hit all sides.
    Tip out & rinse.
    Works on tomato, curry, tumeric, cocoa, fruit stains & takes away any rotting smell of forgotten veg, cheese or meat.
    Tissue or paper towel & squirt of soap method also works well on nonstick pans & meat dishes that have been washed but still have an oily film.
    Bubble up the hot water by hand & slide the paper up the sides of item etc. Tissue is surprising strong when wet.

Comparing the cost of these silicon bags to the rolls I purchase for my Food Saver, I'll stick with the vacuum sealer. Even the reusable Food Saver zipper vacuum bags, which are not cheap, seem like a bargain next to these.

    I purchased the Food Bunker 9-piece set and had the same shipping time and experience you had. I'm of mixed opinion about the bags -- the silicone seems rugged enough and I like the concept, but 3 of the bags have at least one clip that will not engage and therefore won't seal the bag. And on one bag, the clip assembly pops off one end of the bag entirely. The bags with functional clips work great. I wish I had seen the Wiselly product first and may try the large size with the heavy-duty clips.
    ETA if you look up Wiselly on Amazon, the seller is listed as FoodBunker but the word WISELLY is clearly visible on the product. 🤔

  • @evantroyka6017
    @evantroyka6017 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for the video. It's very informative. I am wondering why. Why would someone want these bags when we have other containers? Is the shape what's important? Regular, reusable, square or round food containers (glass, plastic, silicon, whatever) do everything these bags do. And they don't have convoluted sealing mechanisms like these bags do and they are easier to clean. Is the desire to have the containers be flat when empty while storing super high? These aren't flat like disposable bags. I just can't find a reason to choose these containers over traditional containers that do the same exact thing. If one wants to save the planet from disposable "baggies", there are cheaper, simpler, and more durable options that have been around for decades.

    • @barcham
      @barcham 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RadioStaring Putting it away hot won't make you sick, but there is a risk of a hot container cracking if you put it directly in a sub-zero temperature like a freezer. Refrigerator and freezer manufacturers also do not recommend it as it can raise the temperature of other items already in the fridge, bringing them into a non-safe temperature which could cause them to spoil or have bacteria growth. And it is more likely to stain a plastic bag or container.
      It is always better to let cooked food drop considerably in temperature before refrigerating or freezing them. If it is too hot to handle, or still feels hot to the touch, wait before putting it in. If you have an IR thermometer, wait until the temperature has dropped below 95 °F.

    Just got off work, showered now in bed. Then I see what I always love seeing, that “Freakin’ Reviews” in my notifications. Gonna watch you before I go to sleep. It’s 10:30 pm 🕥 here in Alabama.

    I'd love to see a review on that small portable account unit that uses water to cool the room. Claims it will cool 400 sq ft to 65 degrees

    I tried the Stasher silicon brand and they have the same issue. Hard to clean and stained :(

      I feel like it's a universal thing with plastics. I have had the same issue with tupperware/rubbermaid containers for decades.

      I just bought one to try. Thanks for the heads up. I like the feel of it; hopefully it's easy to close! It's not clips like these.
