Have the same problem on our Mk6 golf, but also found the two rubber plugs the the rear under the bumper in the 20mm diameter holes had become brittle and broken and water was entering there. Replaced the plugs with new ones from VW. Also sealed up the taillights and replaced the rubber gasket there as one was found to be holding water, likely because the single plastic bolt was not properly tightened. Tested with a hose in the driveway - all sealed up now! Bit of advice to anyone trying to track down leaks - test with a hose before replacing the bumper; I had to remove/replace mine 4 times in the process before catching everything.

Hi I was working on my Golf mk6 yesterday following a long period of water in exactly the same areas as you.
I did find that water was coming in through the light unit gasket as the gasket was saturated. I would watch that gasket also if you have further water penetration. However I hadn't realised the problem was also around the vents so I'm soon to check those. Thanks for your video and don't forget to consider the light unit gasket points.

I've fixed my leak. I don't believe its coming in through the pressure vents!. You must get inside the vehicle and do a water test. The water is using the rear door Gasket as a down pipe which is all hidden from the eye.
It all starts at the top of the roof where the water enters the Gasket and makes its way down until it meets a thickness of metal enabling it to run in at this point. Now the water is drawing into the car for as long as it continues to rain. The collection of water will fill the well where the spare is kept and depending whether the vehicle is parked out of level water will travel in that direction and making its way towards the foot well in the back of the vehicle. This is what I experienced with my problem. I only had to remove the base carpet from the boot and there is a vertical side carpet left and right and the plastic trim which is easy to pop off. Job done!!

Same leak point around rear vents on 2013 Mk7 Golf! Mine have tiny rubber seal around edge but rubber has hardened and lost elasticity - so that is why it leaks. Took rear bumper off to access vents - very tricky owing to concealed fastners - popped vents out, cleaned edges and used silicone sealer to refit them.

FOR EVERY GOLF 7 OWNER: check these out:
(tip: keep a toilet paper roll in the sidepockets of the booth. Thats how i noticed my problem, it was wet, even tho no water was visible)
    1. slam vents (water in booth or underneath the backseat) take vents off, clean and apply tons of silicone, new ones will corrode eventually.
    2. Panoramic roof drains (they might be clogged leading to infiltration by the panoramic roof) ugly mess, stained interior on all walls down to the footwell.
    3. Speaker sealant foam (all 4)(water underneath the speakers grill and on the inside of the door sealant at speaker level, leads to water in the footwell and mold later) ugglier mess.
    4. Reverse camera cover/drain pipe (water in the booth).
I was lucky. Had all of them.
    5. Tail lights. Water in booth. Dont know how to fix this, but check after pressure washing your car.

Same here. Im still figuring the issue out. Have a strong feelings its also coming from the vent. My left-rear seat is soaking wet after some heavy rain. I feel like it flows from the airvent to the seat. My footwell is all dry though

I've been getting a mildew smell and discovered my right passenger foot well is full of water. This seems to be a common problem from the others posting here.
