Toen ik mijn genet kreeg was ze 6 weken, maar ze is geflest vanaf 3 weken oud. Tam zijn ze zeer zeker niet, ik heb er echt veel tijd ingestoken en het kan behoorlijk frustrerend zijn. Mijn genet leeft in huis, ze heeft geen kooi oid en ik heb de nodige aanpassingen gedaan, en voor mij werkt het prima zo.
Dat mijn Genet zo aanhankelijk (tam) is, ligt deels natuurlijk in de tijd en aandacht maar ook zeker aan het karakter van het dier. Veel genetten ook met de hand grootgebrachte dieren zoeken weinig interactie met mensen, behalve met voeren of spelen bijvoorbeeld. Het zijn dieren die erg eenkennig zijn, een vaak genoemde bewering is dat ze ook nooit meer zo'n band opbouwen met diegene die ze heeft grootgebracht.

I still think it's more fascinating to observe these animals in the wild where they truly belong, please let them be, they're not an object or a companion, they are living creatures, buy an actual domestic animal instead if you want a pet friend! Seriously why this need to take wild animals in a house? Don't you have enough choices with a cat, a dog or a rat?
pfft, you don't know the first thing about domestication Cats and dogs can be just as bad if not worse when feral (wild),. Genets can be well suited for companionship, but they're very unique and require special care. Many pets we have today, like many species of pet birds, aren't domesticated. Just like any companion animal, they all start out wild. Domesticated pets like cats and dogs are great, it's just some of us admire genets.
You do realize the only reason modern civilization exists today is due to the domestication of cows, pigs, horses dogs and other animals and plants. Grow up.
I've heard that they are actually very good bonding wise. I'm not sure how I stand on this, but I think I stand more on letting them live in the wild, but maybe a few as pets wont hurt the environment

@@slappy8941 They are more closely related to mongooses then either of those. A raccoon is more closely related to cats and dogs then genets.
It kinda depends on where you live. I'm from Spain and we have savauge genettes but they're originally from Africa, so it's really easy to get one
