2011: China has been barred from the ISS since 2011, when Congress passed a law prohibiting official American contact with the Chinese space program due to concerns about national security.
2022 April 27: NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said on Tuesday China continues to display a lack of transparency and willingness to cooperate with the United States in China space station.
😅But he forgot it is against the U$A law for China to have contact with NASA .

The US is in a race with itself, not with China, to bring the stranded astronauts back to earth 😂

    • @omsi-fanmark
      @omsi-fanmark หลายเดือนก่อน +6

Actually *that* is *not* a race. It is not as if there was any emergency there. Although it's a shame that Boeing's Starliner is such a big failure and that NASA still isn't pulling the plug in favor of other companies being ready to do better. For example, there is the Dreamliner, which is soon to be tested for cargo and has a crewed version planned as the next step. The "stranded" astronauts are perfectly safe. Only a serious emergency on the station with emergency departure of all personnel and docked spacecrafts before the arrival of the next Crew Dragon from SpaceX might result in danger, because their evacuation would then have to be improvised. As for the extended stay on the ISS, that's something astronauts dream of, so they won't be sorry for that unexpected opportunity. It is mostly sad for the next Crew Dragon crew members who have to stay behind, because next Crew Dragon will launch with only 2 out of 4 seats occupied, but with two additional SpaceX suits for those two from the Starliner test mission to be taken back home early 2025.
However, if the US and NASA don't want China to be the first with a first permanent human settlement on the moon or any other celestial body, they'll have to speed up a lot. That requires a different mindset both in US politics and at NASA's leadership. Like Biden, Bill Nelson isn't a bad guy - but way too old for the job. And nothing good will come out of it w/o the required funding or with politicians granting funinding only of speciftic companies are to be iinvolved, it *requires* free competition to go forward. And no cost-plus contracts for the "old space" companies just because they are used to them.

There's a huge difference between the Apollo Era and now. The goal this time is permanence on the Moon, whereas in the Apollo Era it was everything that they could do just to reach it. Also this time NASA is in partnership with SpaceX and others. The Cold War sense of urgency isn't there, but SpaceX has its own reasons to be urgent.

You do know that China already has some aerospace technologies that the US lacks, right? Not just the ability to bring back lunar samples without the need for astronauts which was mentioned in the video.
One particular piece of tech that scares the US military speechless is China's Hyperglider, officially being developed as escape pods for China's space station but that if used as a drone can potentially deliver a large payload anywhere in the world regardless of where it's launched from, can maneuver in hypersonic speed (meaning it would be almost impossible to shot down with current air defenses), can stay loitering in orbit waiting for the signal to attack (so China could potentially stockpile them in orbit before a conflict), and has even shown the capability to detach sub-objects (like missiles) while flying in hypersonic speeds. It was tested successfully - including the capability of detaching objects in hypercruise - a couple years ago (with the US and most US news channels calling it a missile, mind).

There is one major flaw in this story: the DW reporter suggests that the United States is making major investments in space. But, during the height of the original Space Race in 1969, NASA's budget was about 4.7% of the overall U.S. federal budget. After the Apollo program ended, NASA's budget plummeted. According to Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson, NASA's current $25 billion per year budget is now about 0.35% of the overall federal government budget. Even with all of the contracts for launches that SpaceX has won, that's still a pale fraction of what America spent in 1969.

    • @KityKatKiller

The point is that it's still more than in the 2000s and it's definetley more than it's competitors spend.
What also shouldn't be neglected is that the USA is the only place, where private investment is as big as it is.
Jeff Bezos sells 1 to 2 billion Dollars worth of Amazon stock every year to invest into Blue Origin.
And SpaceX alread y has a profitable buisness with Starlink where profits are used to invest into their new rocket. Other countries don't have that.

A "World Super Power" is one that can exert it's influence/dominance on the World's stage. For example, USA has the USD as the reserve currency of the world whereas China is the factory of the world and also the largest exporter of trade of the World. Russia, on the other hand, is one of the top 5 oil producing country and also the country with the largest number of nuclear arsenal. In addition, Russia also happens to be largest country of the world in terms of land mass and also one of the largest resources rich country. Take a look at how big the size of Russia on the map? What about India?
      1) World Super Super Power , India , wanted to pay cheap and heavily discounted Russian oil in Rupees to take advantage of the Ukraine's crisis/war but was ordered to pay in Chinese Yuan instead.
      2) World Super Super Power , India , objects to BRICS expansion but everyone in BRICS ignored India's demand and went ahead and expanded BRICS (refer to BRICS Summit)
      3) World Super Super Power , India , said that they are "Global leader of technology". However, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has said that India's attempt to develop an artificial intelligence tool like ChatGPT is "hopeless" and that is why Sam Altman over the weekend called for enhanced collaboration between the U.S. and China on artificial intelligence development? Is Sam Altman, the inventor of ChatGPT, belittling India and praising China?

The Indian ego and dishonesty in Indian culture: "Whatever means necessary"
Part 1: In year 2013 or 2014, India claimed to be the "First Asian Country" to "reach" Mars. One deep thorough check, India's space navigational system, NAVIC, was only operational in year 2018. So how did India navigate into space without a space navigational system? India did a time travel in year 2013 or 2014 and travelled into the future in year 2018, took NAVIC, and went back to year 2013 or 2014? 😅Obviously not. India uses America's GPS space navigational system and performed a Mars Orbital. Reaching Mars orbit is not the same as reaching Mars. There is no Indian space rover or astronaunts in Mars. 🤭🤥🥱 Do you know what is the definition of "orbit" ? Hovering around Mars thousands/millions of kilometers around Mars is not "reaching Mars". China is the real "first Asian country" to reach Mars in year 2021 with their Mars Rovers landing on planet Mars.
Part 2: Bollywood scripts changes all the time. Prior to NASA and China's statement that India never reached the South Pole of the Moon, Indians say that they are first country to reach the Moon's South Pole. Now at 7:59 , P.Veeramhthuvel, director Chandrayann-3 project, said: We became the first country to go to the, *Near* to the South Pole of the Moon . Notice how fast Bollywood script changes so quickly? Honesty Issues.
Let me tell you another secret, the first country to ever land, Near to the south Pole of the Moon is China, not India. China landed on "South Pole-Aitken basin" from Chang'e -4 in year 2018 or 2019, which is located near to the South Pole of the Moon: A preliminary monochrome mosaic of the Moon from the LROC Wide Angle Camera (WAC), centered in the middle of the South Pole-Aitken basin. Arrow points to the South Pole and an X marks the Constellation region of interest (Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera)

How old is USA? The history of space exploration in China stretches back to 900 A.D., China created the rocket during the Sung dynasty (A.D. 960-1279). The first known use of the military rocket occurred in 1232 when the Chinese used fei huo tsiang (flying fire lances) against Mongols besieging the city of Kai-fung-fu.
