Wow, a lot for a model. Soooo looking forward to view the final product with all the speciality items installed!! Oh and thanks for the cost breakdown.
Yeah this is coming along! also going to be my personal cash pad in texas for the double, the model is just the single 40ft we are using for the guest house!
Thanks for the breakdown. Anyway you could elaborate more on the welding. Thinking the complex roof and overhangs, decking were a huge part. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Blake! Great job man. I've been following your videos for few months now and I have to give it to you. You're dedicated and relentless. Huge respect. I moved to OR 5 years ago from Jax, FL where I worked as residential architect and designed a lot of homes ranging from 300k to 2-3M. I believe $175/sf is not bad price at all and 1,000 sf, well designed is plenty of space. Anyway, good luck with everything. Keep up a good work!
Im savy so I can build this with half your spending and that's what I'm planning and researching. Thanks for all the content because I learn a lot from you and other container home owners on TH-cam
For future videos can you please separate out the cost of raw materials + labor, per category? I am planning on building my own container home and will do majority of the labor myself - and this price is inflated probably by 50%+ due to labor costs. Obviously, certain aspects I will pay for expertise and convenience (concrete work as an example), but the majority of it and especially the finishings, can be done myself to save massively and reduce the overall price per sqft. Just consider separating the pricing out in the future so people can see this is a cost effective option if you perform the labor yourself.
I think you people are forgetting that building your own home from scratch is gonna cost regardless. Different if you already have a foundation, plumbing, and power on site.
My uncle owns a historic register house in Suburban NY (special district north of the city). All OEM stuff (that's a century old) needs to be replaced with the same stuff, so all wood. The price he was quoted was 100K for the entire place. It's a large house, but you'd be surprised how quickly custom window work tends to escalate in price. Edit: He's done well in this life, but he is not wealthy.
Most impressed with the solar number. For a 6kw system, it actually sounds like a bargain; is your figure all inclusive for the solar company to install/labor etc or is that your cost for the equipment only? Will be looking forward to the solar video!
I have a silly question: is polished concrete more expensive as a material? My lack of knowledge and gut say that you could polish without fancy concrete and some elbow grease, however I could be DEAD WRONG! Please advise!!
hahah so a company has to come in and sand the floors with a bunch of different pads until it becomes super shiny and sealed! its like $1.5 per sqft to polish, so its almost a wash to some in expensive flooring options
@@ContainingLuxury I respect that. I see so many of these People in the “Tiny house” movement spending double of what I could build with sticks and bricks. It just doesn’t make financial sense to me but what ever makes a person happy. I actually have rental lots that i rent to people with Tiny homes and I’m usually shocked when they tell me how much they spent on their Tiny house . I’m very happy to rent to them but I can’t see how it ever pays off.
Awesome video. I had one question because you have built a few of these things, I am building something I cant seem to find any info on. I want to use the side I will cut out of 1 container to be a roof between 2 containers 4'6" apart. Will that side corrugated 14 gauge steel span 4'8" without needing supports ?
@@ZackWolfMusic Not really. I am building a work area between 3 containers. I was gonna set the middle container in the - well middle. But a 4'6" space with 6" of floor height differential is more than I can manage. So I am moving the middle container to butt against the one on the right. So a 9' space will now be 6" lower, and is easier to manage. So I now can do like 10' of clear plastic roof, then use the steel from the sides for the other 30'.
So keep paying our mortgages for our larger houses with garages that can actually be financed since few of us have 100’s of thousands of dollars sitting around…. Got it.
I really enjoy Containing Luxury. However, I prefer the videos filmed in the containers. Convincing people to live in containers from within your expansive traditional home is off putting. Aside from that, thanks for the Texas Build. More relatable.
Hard work swinging a hammer! People under estimate how much construction guys make with zero education. I was once homeless and only have a Highschool diploma. Yet on to my 5th company and properties across the country. All from swinging a hammer and working hard. Kids need to be taught a hard days work not how to avoid getting their feelings hurt :)
Ha, ha, if your trying to save -you won't ,...unless you've construction skills, own tons of equipmentand have at least 100k-150k and at least 6 months to do manual labor-so this isn't the 20 foot container with 20k budget and learn as you go...
@@CurvcoSteelBuildings What's the largest size you offer with shipping containers included along with total square footage? Are you guy's able to travel to Indiana to assemble or no?

Gr8 Job. Thx a Ton for the Post.
Made this into a game and I was way off on exterior painting..."sore subject". Nailed a few though. Love the videos and ideas. Thanks 👍
Wow!! A 40 foot container here in Puerto Rico is going for 9,000. Can you imagine the rest of the cost? Massive.
Is there a walkthrough on this setup? I’m definitely interested in this type of setup.
I love tiny houses ❤❤❤
Is containers home 👍
Yes. I like something like that but a tiny home.
Appreciate the square foot cost breakdown and great explanation. Great videos as always.

beautiful build and great breakdown
$175 per sq ft, that's awesome! Where I live in Wyoming it's at $255 sq ft. 45 minutes from me in Jackson Hole, it's $760 sq ft.
lol did he pay you to write that?
@@celyl No, it's now between $285 - $300 sq ft in my area to build.
If your cost is $150K - $175K, what is the client's cost...?
I think you people are forgetting that building your own home from scratch is gonna cost regardless. Different if you already have a foundation, plumbing, and power on site.
Where did you find the containers so cheap?
You should have put your power cable threw the gap in your table to hide the cable. Rest of your house is immaculate sorry that bugged me lol.
Hahah good call! Thanks!
Agreed Bro, that is HIGH
$20K for windows and doors!? Is that normal?
EDIT - with these figures, the client must be wealthy 🧐
The windows and door are customized, so they will cost way more than the regular house windows/doors

Hey can you put a link to the type of trailer you use?
Has he posted the drawings for this house anywhere? Is this the house he is going to live in?
Wheres the video of joining the two together?
Is this the container home that you built? Are you in Florida?

I enjoy watching these videos but I think I will just keep building the sticks and bricks.
thats why we make this videos so people get the real numbers so they can really make the decision on if this is the best way to go or not!

How much was the foam insulation
You forgot the isolation ?
Did I! Oh man will have to add that in! I spent another $3,800 on spray foam!
20.000 for windows !! Woww
That’s cheap considering what regular homes go for
