I have caught some pretty nice fish on this rod and reel. When my children were young this rod and reel came out. 100 times better than a kids pole. Easy travel rod too for a quick impromptu fishing stop.

I just realized that you bent the rod backwards at first, since it is a casting rod not a spinning rod. That might be why the foam was splitting. You are going against the spine, not with it. They have a spinning version as well.
The two versions are the same just a different grip. The blank extents beyond that foam into the reel seat where it is welded to the handle with massive amounts of epoxy. I know this because I took one apart to see how it worked. The foam splitting doesn't matter, it's actually cosmetic and can be completely removed.
This is a great channel, I love fishing TH-cam channels like this. Trying to break a dock demon, it was awesome that it could lift a propane tank 25 lbs.
So I was watching these cause I love the concept of the dock demon and I went out with my buddy to a new place, caught my personal best today on my little dock demon with 6 lb line. It was a 9 lb flat 27 inch carp, the first carp of my life! Best fight I have ever had =)
You need to do a comparison between conventional rods and glass rods (which is what the dock demon is). Fiberglass rods are stronger but more susceptible to extreme colds.

I've had this rod for a few yrs. Great in small crreks with tight places . also never take kayak without this one rod. Now i didnt think it was this strong lmao. I see i need to up line on mine. As well as get a few more

One thing when you put the spinning reel on the rod you are completely going against the spline of the rod that rod was built for a bait caster or closed face reel.
These things are unbelievably strong .I have the deluxe. The reel stopped working after 2 trips. It was garbage. The short rod length makes hook setting and casting a bit difficult. But its strong. As I was watching this, I got mine out and it does in fact bend from end to end.

Lots of your videos are fun by the way, but trying to break a rod with a 20lb propane tank and a kayak is hardcore. Lol. Zebco Dock Demon=Impressive. Looks like a sensitive rod too, which is good for light biters/bite detection.
I think they designed it so that it will not break if the largest eye touches the reel, at that point it is purely line strength. By using a smaller reel it might be possible but then the max drag might not be strong enough.
ive been using a zebco dock demon rod for many many years paired with a zebco zse20 reel, 20lb mono and a 4/0 circle hook. i have caught countless catfish like this but recently decided to change it up a bit. i just put a Penn Pursuit4 4000 reel with 30lb braid and a 6/0 circle hook on it. cant wait to go catfishing again. its hilarious seeing the reaction of people when they see me land a fish that is longer than the pole im using. i thought about putting one of my Pursuit4 6000 or 8000 reels on but the wont fit without modifications and thats not happening.
I enjoyed it because I like you guys it was fun. I would like to see you throw the original real on and see how much the real can take. I look forward to more fishing tips as well.

Zebco should be very pleased with this demo. Hope that is not your favorite reel. Seeing a propane can pulled around made me a bit nervous. If I get a Dock Demon, I will wrap that top foam with some Gorilla or T-Rex tape before first use. Well done.

I’d only recommend upgrading the reel. The reel is plastic junk and will break super easy. I upgraded to a Lews aluminum reel and it works 1000x. Super far and accurate casting with 4 pound test. This is a good setup for this rod
Dock Demons are the shit! i have one everywhere I go. It is easily going to beat my old abu cardinal for number of fish caught in just a few months because of it always being in my pocket. Could have come with better line but I am not gonna complain. I got it for 10 bucks. I mean really 10 bucks the reel on it is solid. Friggin solid for its size. have landed some good bass on it.

I thought I caught a log so I reeled my line in and I was bringing it up to the surface and it was a 50 pound snapping turtle
dude same shit happened to me I was like stupid log and as I lifted up bam huge snapping turtle staring right up at me
if I had to guess, the foam was breaking because you put a spinning reel on a casting rod, which put the weight upside down.
I got a US Dock Runner and it snaped when i tried to lift a 10lbs plate, this is what i'm getting.
Edit: I lifted a 15 lbs with the Doc Demon, unreal.
